00:16Minister of Health of Spain, President of European Cancer Leagues, President of the Spanish Association Against Cancer,
00:24Dear young advocates, distinguished participants.
01:21I am sure that none of you here today would go to the cafeteria
01:29and order a cocktail of ammonia, cadmium, tar, acrolaine, carbon monoxide, acetone, arsenic,
01:44hydrogen cyanide, nicotine, and formaldehyde, among other ingredients.
01:53Addressing an issue like the tobacco epidemic requires intelligence, unity,
01:59and a coordinated strategy that integrates prevention, legal, and care measures,
02:05as well as control policies that have the potential to reduce its negative impact on health.
02:12Professor Carlos López Otín always reminds us that prevention is a culture of life,
02:20and a healthy life requires curiosity, knowledge that helps us make all those daily decisions that affect our health,
02:30meaning what we eat, drink, breathe, think, what we do not smoke, and the exercise we do,
02:41every single day of our life.
02:44Let us promote that individual responsibility, and now let us listen during these three days
02:52to those who really know.
02:53Thank you very much, and good luck.
02:55Thank you.
