राज्यसभा में प्रश्नकाल के दौरान उस समय तीखी नोकझोंक देखने को मिली जब आरजेडी सांसद मनोज झा ने सरकार से सवाल पूछते हुए प्रधानमंत्री और गृह मंत्री की सदन में अनुपस्थिति का मुद्दा उठाया। सभापति ने उन्हें केवल संबंधित प्रश्न पर बोलने की सलाह दी, जिसके बाद कुछ देर के लिए सदन में हंगामे जैसी स्थिति बन गई। इस बीच सत्ता पक्ष और विपक्ष के सदस्यों के बीच भी तीखी टिप्पणियां सुनने को मिलीं। बाद में केंद्रीय मंत्री प्रल्हाद जोशी ने सरकार की ओर से जवाब देते हुए स्पष्ट किया कि राष्ट्रीय खाद्य सुरक्षा से जुड़े प्रस्तावित संशोधनों के कारण किसी भी लाभार्थी का राशन कम नहीं होगा। उन्होंने कहा कि 79 करोड़ से अधिक पात्र लोगों को पहले की तरह खाद्यान्न मिलता रहेगा और किसी भी राज्य के हिस्से में कोई कटौती नहीं की जाएगी। मंत्री ने भरोसा दिलाया कि सरकार खाद्य सुरक्षा के प्रति पूरी तरह प्रतिबद्ध है और पात्र लाभार्थियों के हितों पर किसी भी प्रकार का प्रतिकूल प्रभाव नहीं पड़ेगा।

Later, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi responded on behalf of the government, clarifying that the proposed amendments related to the National Food Security framework would not result in any reduction of food grain benefits for eligible beneficiaries. He stated that more than 79 crore eligible people would continue to receive food grains as before, and no state's allocation or beneficiary quota would be reduced. The minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to food security, assuring the House that the interests of eligible beneficiaries would remain fully protected.
