00:04My name is Joe, I play bass for Wilder. We are at Norwich. This is Wilder's first night
00:10of the NME tour but I think the actual NME tour started last night. So yeah, this night
00:15is going to be even better then obviously. Brief history of Wilder. We all live in Bristol,
00:22we all met in Bristol, we all played music in Bristol and we all came together in Bristol
00:27really. I've been playing for about a year and a half, signed to Rough Trade Records last
00:31year and you know, just trying to get out there really. I'll be honest, I haven't actually
00:37heard any joy formidable stuff but I have heard good things. Chapel Club, they're a bit too
00:45close to the Smiths for my liking, I'm not a Smiths fan so I just don't get it. And Flats,
00:54a bit derivative of Crass and those sorts of guys so I'd say that we're probably the most
01:01original band playing tonight. I think the music industry is looking for, it searches for ways
01:10to define bands and I think it needs to move past defining bands in genres because we live
01:18in like a post-genre society now where you know, you can just pick and choose from any
01:23sort of musical style and create something different so I think we need to move away
01:27from genres and start concentrating on bands. Wilder is a band, Wilder is a new genre so you
01:34know. I think bands, I think bands need to speak their mind a bit more to be honest. Everyone's
01:41trying to be friends with everyone else but behind closed doors everyone's cynical of everyone
01:45else so I think we need to move away from this sort of age of cynicism and because it seems
01:53to be cool to be less cynic so but now everyone's a cynic surely it's just commonplace so you need
01:59to actually you know say what you like and say what you love now instead. Do you know what I
02:05mean?
02:13The drums, the drums and the drums are probably the three most overhyped bands of this year and they're
02:21just so dull. They do nothing for me, they inspire nothing within me. We have got our first proper
02:31nationwide tour starting at the beginning of October. We're playing in Thecler in Bristol is
02:37our first date on the fourth sort of a homecoming show which is going to be great. Looking forward
02:41to that one and then playing all over the country like check on MySpace for details. We've we've done
02:46the odd few gigs but we haven't like we're only really just getting going now like you know the
02:52world will soon hear wilder so. We supported the Maccabees in February. They're they were all really
02:59sound and like really nice guys and we all genuinely dig their music so that was good. We were on
03:06tour
03:06with Julian Casablancas but that was immediately after we got signed like over last Christmas sort
03:11of time. That was cool it was too cool for school didn't give us the time of day and apart
03:17from the one
03:18fact that he came into our dressing room on one of the nights and went over to Jay our keyboard
03:23player
03:24and had a little fondle of his hair because Jay's got feathers in his hair and was like I like
03:29this
03:29I'm going to steal this and then a few months later in his new video came out with all feathers
03:32in his
03:33hair so that's a wilder original Julian.
