00:09We're backstage here at the NME Awards. I've been joined by My Chemical Romance, who are not only the winners
00:13of Best International Band, but they also just won Best Video as well. Congratulations. How are you feeling?
00:18I feel great. I feel on fire.
00:22How does it feel to pick up two awards this evening?
00:24Really good. We only have one, but we need a lot more middle figures, I feel.
00:30You won Best International Band, which has been voted for a lot by the UK fans. They seem to absolutely
00:36adore you, the UK fans. Can you explain it?
00:38I think a lot of it is because we love them.
00:40Feelings are beautiful.
00:42And they've always made us feel like this was actually our home, and we grew up loving so much British
00:48music.
00:48So I don't know, there's something there. It's magical when we come here.
00:52When I got here this morning, they were already camped out outside. It's crazy.
00:56Yeah. They like the cold. I think they like to hang out in the cold.
00:59You have to in this country. How was the UK tour then? Because obviously you saw a lot of them
01:03just now.
01:04Oh, yeah. It's been amazing, man. Seriously. I mean, we've been a band ten years now, and to still have
01:09new kids coming to the shows and stuff, it's pretty amazing.
01:12I love the way they're really defensive of you guys as well. If we step out of line, they let
01:16us know.
01:17Absolutely, yeah. I guess it's great about them. I think we're lucky to have those kind of fans.
01:22And obviously you won Best Video earlier on this evening for 9 Nas.
01:279 Nas. There should have been like 47, but there's only 9.
01:30How does that feel to win for that video? Because it's a very striking concept.
01:33Well, it feels great because we did it together. We did it as friends.
01:37And I had an amazing DP, two amazing co-directors, amazing editor, you know, and just these...
01:46It was like nobody was telling us what to do, and there was no rules. And I think that's why
01:52it's really special.
01:53How great is it to take a concept like you have for the record and put that into a video?
01:58Every time we make a record, there's this moment where the vision in your head that you share together,
02:04and you make the music for, gets realized. And it's almost always the first video.
02:08And so that always feels really magical.
02:12Obviously, with this one, it was a concept idea to a degree. The last album as well.
02:18Having seen what's gone on recently, ever thought about maybe a musical or a film?
02:22Well, musical, we said no to for Black Parade a long time ago.
02:25But this concept, or at least this record, this world that we've created, kind of feels like, I don't know,
02:31like we're not done living in it yet. So I think it would translate really well to a film. That'd
02:35be great.
02:36And in terms of the sort of film ideas, I know you were working on one for your graphic novel,
02:43Abrella Academy. Is that going anywhere?
02:45I mean, it might. I mean, that's kind of the thing. Like, you spend a lot of time getting these
02:49things right.
02:50And obviously, like, my number one thing is the band. And I just, you know, I love putting a lot
02:55of time into it.
02:55So it's hard for me to always be there on it. But there's a lot of great people working on
02:59it.
02:59I mean, I hope to see it. I mean, I wrote the comic. So it's different for me. It's like,
03:04I told the story.
03:05I'm very happy they're making it as a movie, but I told the story. So I feel good.
03:10You could be the purist at the back, going, oh, they changed that.
03:12Yeah. I don't even know if I'd feel that. I would just kind of be like, you know, I told
03:16the story.
03:16I still got the book.
03:18And just finally, you played, obviously, opened the show tonight, which was absolutely fantastic.

03:27I thought you were just saying it was so cold in Britain.
