00:13She's very nuanced, and so I just was very excited to find a character of such depth.
00:18I really look forward as an actress to the challenge of getting an accent right and to
00:22getting to aging for so many years.
00:25But also, I mean, just on a human level, she's a late bloomer.
00:29And she's somebody who really doesn't have it figured out when she's young and seems
00:34to think that she ought to.
00:36And that's something I really related to.
00:39Yeah, well, people hate him as well.
00:40I've had a bit of, like, you know, people can't stand him.
00:43And people love him.
00:44Yeah, he's a bit of a lovable, rogue idiot, I suppose.
00:48You know, he makes a lot of bad decisions in life.
00:51But I think he has such a lust for life.
00:54He's quite an infectious character.
00:55You sort of want to be around him, I guess, at times.
00:57I bet you can have a good laugh with Dexter.
01:00I think we need some rules.

01:02I'm not taking any chances with our friendship.
01:04Separate bedrooms.
01:05No flirting.
01:06And absolutely no skinny dipping.
01:10I think it's nice to read a story about people, you know, good people, intelligent people,
01:15who get things wrong and then sometimes get things right.
01:18And I don't know, I think it's a very true story.
01:20And obviously, I mean, most people, myself included, were suckers for unrequited love.
01:25You draw from your own life and you, you know, you know these characters from memories of your own past.
01:31So everybody has a different version of these people, you know.
01:35The problem is I fancy pretty much everyone.
01:40No, I mean, anyone.
01:42Really, I mean, it's like I've just gone out of prison all the time.
01:44The person who wrote the screenplay wrote the book, you know, and so he knows these characters and this story
01:49more better than anybody.
01:50So he was, you know, it was a real badge of honor just to have him, you know, weave this
01:55story and condense it and play around with it and, you know, adapt it for the screen.
02:01I threw the book across the room.
02:04I was crying so hard.
02:05I couldn't hold it anymore.
02:06I just launched it.
02:07I'm going to be one of those inspirational teachers.
02:10Those who can do and those who can't teach.
02:13And those who can't teach.

02:17I just don't like you anymore.
02:20I don't think Jim and Dexter really have anything in common except they're both two really lovable people.
02:26I mean, I found Dexter frustrating but really sweet and lovable.
02:31But Jim's amazing and I actually thought he was more like Emma than he was like Dexter.
02:37The kindest, nicest, most fun, honest person.
02:41Just can't say enough nice things about him.
02:43She's an activist at heart.
02:44Anne is as well, you know.
02:45They both share that sort of quality that if they could change the world and make it a better place,
02:50they would, you know, and try and figure out ways of doing so.
02:53So they definitely have that very strong sort of sense of belief and, you know, the righteous path of doing
02:59the right thing.
