You can 'charge' a mese fuel storage item with any fuel by cooking it in a furnace, charge it a little or a lot, then when you need some fuel pop it in the furnace as a fuel. A fully charge mese fuel storage item can cook for four thousand seconds, that's just a little over an hour of burn time. Unlike normal fuels it stops burning once there is no further material to cook.

00:00Welcome back to the Luanti mod review. Today we are looking at the Mies fuel storage mod
00:06which adds these Mies fuel cells, I suppose we'll call them.
00:12And they let you store heat energy for furnaces. Now quick, get this out of the way, this only
00:22works for mind test game furnaces. Now because it overrides their behavior to do this, it
00:27will not work for anything outside of mind test game. So just bear that in mind as you're
00:33watching this. It's the only game you can use it with and only with the default furnaces.
00:38Any other furnaces this will not work with. So basically we get a Mies fuel storage and
00:48we have empty and we have, well this one is 59% full. It's been burning for quite some
00:54time. So let's go ahead and take a look at the craft recipe to start with. So we have
00:59the non-charged version, which of course we can turn into the charged version by cooking
01:06it. And to craft it initially, we'll need some glass Mies crystals, steel ingots, and a bit
01:13of coal. And yeah, slap that together in your crafting grid. Get yourself a fuel storage cell
01:20here. And then to use it, it's as simple as going to a furnace, popping it in the top
01:27slot, throwing your fuel of choice in the bottom slot, and then yeah, you wait and wait. As
01:37you can see, this has a 4000 second capacity. I don't know what the math comes out to on that,
01:45but that's a long time. This has been cooking for quite some time. We're only charged up
01:50to 61%. This was 99 coal blocks to start with, so we've burned through six coal blocks to charge
01:57at 60%. So maybe one coal block to 10% of a charge. I kind of want it though, so
02:06I'm just
02:06going to grab it. It's got more than ample charge. We should be fine to do what we need
02:12to do. You know, I have a couple more furnaces here charging them, just because there's some
02:17things I want to know. And then we'll come over here, and yeah, to use it as a fuel, we
02:23just pop
02:23a charged fuel storage in, and let it do its thing. So here I have 50 lumps of sand, 50
02:32lumps,
02:3250 sand nodes, turning them into glass, because, I mean, that's what you do. I thought I had extra
02:38coal, but I guess I didn't grab extra coal. That's kind of unfortunate. But yeah, I mean,
02:46I don't suppose it's too important that that one keeps charging, so we can just go ahead and do this.
02:51No, actually, you know what? A better idea. I've got one that's only 2% of a charge. Let's go
02:57ahead
02:58and throw that 2% in here. Let's see what 2% will do us. Will 2% get us
03:02all 50 sand nodes? We'll find
03:04out. We've got 14, and we're down 1%. So I have a feeling that the 50 is not going to
03:10get us both,
03:11but that's fine. While that's doing its thing, we're going to go ahead and grab these, because I
03:16am curious. Can we combine? No. No, we cannot. Okay. I was just curious. I was like, hmm, if I
03:25have
03:26two that are charged at 50, can I get one at 100 and one at zero? But it does not
03:30appear as if that's
03:31the case. I'm going to go ahead and throw this back in, because I have coal to burn. May
03:37as well burn it. You know, use it to do the thing. Oh, and we're out. Oh, but it's still
03:49going. Interesting. What? Is this supposed to work? Is this 0% actually not 0%? We are
04:08still getting more glass. Okay. Interesting. It does say fuel 0% when you have a Mies fuel
04:20storage in, and actually if we go over to either of these that are still cooking, and we look
04:25at the info text, it'll say item 0%, even though the item's at 64%. And then I have these that
04:33are still burning, even though there's nothing in there for them to burn, because they just
04:37have to burn up the, oh, here we go. We're out. Okay. So now we're actually, ah, so once
04:42it's truly at 0%, it just loses the 0%. So I could say 0%, but still actually have some
04:48percent. Now, I don't know how exact that 2% was that we had. It could have been at the,
04:53you know, 2.0, 2.0, I guess, as the cool kids would say, or it could have been at
05:002.9. Who
05:02knows? So, I, you know, I guess, I guess we don't know. And here, ah, what were we at?
05:10I don't remember now. Oh no. I feel like it was 61%. So we went down 3% to cook
05:17all, all 50
05:19glass, which honestly I would say not too bad, not too bad. So now what, what's, what's
05:27the advantage to this over, oh, I don't know, just having a whole bunch of coal blocks. Well,
05:35I kind of feel bad about doing this, but I really don't care because this world will not
05:38exist after this video is done recording. So it won't even matter. Um, the big advantage
05:44here, sure. We'll just grab this. No, you know what? I better not. Let's grab one that
05:48has some charge in it. Okay. These are essentially their tools. Um, they are not, are they really
05:55tools? I don't, they may not be registered as tools. I'm not a hundred percent sure, but
05:59they're not stackable in the charged or non-charged forms. Um, that's because they have extra metadata
06:04storing the amount of charge that they have. But, and I also don't know how much cook time
06:11you get out of one block of coal. Um, so this, the math's not gonna math at all. The advantage
06:19to this is if you fully charge it, you have 4,000 seconds of burn time in a single stack.
06:26The
06:27my test game highest burn time, whatever we want to call it, is a block of coal. Now, I didn't
06:36burn any
06:37of these long enough to know if this actually, uh, comes out. I don't know if it's more efficient
06:44to have one stack of 99 coal blocks, or if it's more efficient to have a single Mies fuel
06:53storage. Um, yeah. I kind of feel like the way this is going, you're actually better off
07:00using the coal blocks. Because if this started with 99, and I'm down to 92, and this is only
07:07charged to 68%, I feel like 10% of these might get this to about 100%. So I feel like
07:15we're
07:15actually much better off carrying around coal blocks rather than the Mies fuel storage.
07:23Um, so, yeah. Um, maybe, maybe check the math on that. But I feel like I have too much coal
07:32block left, which means that using coal block is actually more efficient, because in the
07:38same amount of space, you get higher quantity burn time. Now, I will say this, though. The,
07:47when you use a coal block and you throw it in a furnace, you burn the whole coal block,
07:51regardless of how much cooking you're doing. You know, once that coal block's caught on fire,
07:55you can't stop it from burning and have a partial coal block left. This, it uses the power for whatever
08:01you're doing, and then it stops. So, potentially, there is an advantage in that light, because you're
08:08not utilizing the entire stored energy of this cell, whereas you are utilizing the entire
08:15potential stored energy of a block of coal. Now, of course, you could have a whole block
08:20of coal and put one, that's not what I want. I want, here, I want this. You could take a
08:27full
08:27block, throw it in here, and get your nine coal lumps, and then you could burn one coal lump
08:31if you're not cooking a whole lot of stuff, and save on using, save on your coal usage that
08:37way. Um, then you do have to have two empty slots, one for the blocks, and then one for the
08:41individual pieces of coal. Um, but honestly, you're probably still going to have more potential
08:47energy stored than if you have two Mies fuel storages, because you'd be using two cells of
08:54your inventory for the coal, so you could instead have two of these. Um, yeah, so, I may have
09:04convinced myself that the math doesn't math, and carrying around full blocks of coal is better.
09:12Um, although it should be noted these can be charged with anything that burns. So, you know,
09:17I'm using coal blocks here, but I could also use coal lumps, I could use, I don't know what else
09:22you
09:23have available as fuel. Wood. I could burn wood. I don't, can you burn grass? You know, I think actually
09:29you can burn grass. I don't play enough to know. I just make these videos, you know. You know what
09:35I'm saying? You know what I'm saying, man? You know what I'm saying? Oh yeah, see, so you could,
09:42so you could burn a lot of junk and turn it into power, and then use that power again. So
09:47maybe,
09:48maybe they are worthwhile, maybe not. I don't know, it's really up to you to decide, and whether or not
09:53you want to use them. Again, like I said, this is only compatible with the default furnaces from
09:59MindTestGame. Theoretically, any game that builds upon, or even just uses the default mod from MindTestGame,
10:06assuming it's not making any alterations to the furnaces itself, this will work with as well.
