00:08quite upsetting but I've had different farmers contact me basically just wanted me to put
00:16something out there about this blue tongue virus which is hitting us really hard here in Devon
00:23and this strain that is out this year is a lot more serious we're seeing animals just dropping
00:30down dead in the fields I've been feeling guilty because we didn't vaccinate for it
00:38last year but I just want people to know that they're not alone everyone's ordering in the
00:47vaccine now it takes three weeks to work we don't 100% know that we've got it but we've had
00:53blood
00:53tests taken but the tests take two weeks to come back to confirm whether it is that or not there's
01:02no compensation for it but it's really the emotional loss you're going around checking
01:13going around scared to check the sheep literally jabbing them with antibiotics and jabbing them
01:20with anti-inflammatories giving them giving them energy to try and just help them to keep going
01:27but obviously it's a virus there's not a cure for it the antibiotics are just for secondary infections
01:36again it's it's it's it's really tough so I just want to make sure that people know they're not
01:40alone we thought we were alone we didn't know we didn't know it was blue tongue we hadn't heard
01:47that much about it it's been really quiet there's been nothing in the media so we didn't know what the
01:53hell was going on why were our animals dying we had the best we had the best lambing this year

01:59didn't lose a single ewe during lambing but now it's really it's it's really hit us now so if anyone
02:06wants to laugh dad reckons the reason for all this bad luck is because we bailed the hay on a

02:12so hopefully that makes someone laugh at that
