00:00John, in the update, we had some audio from ESPN.
00:03It's Mark Spears.
00:04He talked to Isaiah Stewart about Jalen Duren,
00:08trying to get a sense of how Duren feels right now.
00:11Mark Spears, ESPN.
00:33So part of the reason it just went one ear out the other,
00:36it was a reaction, no question,
00:38is I don't know how many people with the Scooble stuff going on,
00:42the Tigers implosion, football season starting up.
00:47NBA is not top of mind.
00:49No.
00:50And here is the thing.
00:52I don't know that.
00:52Is there another sport where the regular season means less than in the NBA?
01:00It's simply just get in.
01:02And, yes, you want to try and have home court.
01:05You'd love to be the one seed.
01:07But as we find out.
01:09Yeah, flip a switch all the time.
01:10Right.
01:11The Knicks flip the switch and end up winning an NBA championship.
01:17Yes, what you do in the regular season is part of your body of work.
01:22What you do in the postseason, in the NBA,
01:27and, I mean, how many times have we talked about the greatest players
01:29that have not won a championship?
01:32A lot of times it comes down to what you do in the postseason, in the NBA.
01:38If your game is negated by anything an opponent does,
01:42especially multiple opponents,
01:45and you can't perform at the same level or near the same level in the postseason,
01:50it absolutely matters.
01:52And, no, Jalen Duren is not a max contract player.
01:59But it all makes sense when you hear that.
02:01Well, that's a player's perspective.
02:02I expect that from a player, especially a friend of player.
02:07Yeah, but it's too many people in Jalen's Duren life patting him on the ass for his regular season
02:11and minimizing what happened in the postseason.
02:13Of course the postseason mattered.
02:15Of course you were exposed, and the team has to factor that into negotiations.
02:20But it checks out that he doesn't think that's a big deal,
02:23and he's a max player and pay me my money.
02:25That's why he's unsigned.
02:28Quickly, you mentioned football season.
02:29Yeah.
02:30Inside the den, caught a little bit of that last night.
02:33They put out some of the draft stuff with Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell.
02:36A couple things that stood out to me.
02:37They showed how the Lions attempted to trade up for Blake Miller with Miami.
02:43But when Miami stayed, they let it play out.
02:47They gambled a little bit.
02:48They got their guy big bear hug from Dan Campbell to Brad Holmes when they made the pick.
02:53And then they had Brad Holmes talking more about Blake Miller.
02:56He loved his opener in 2024 against Georgia.
02:59He said his favorite game to watch was the Boston College game because he was mauling people.
03:04And then I thought it was really cool.
03:06Like the job interview portion with Blake Miller and Hank Fraley.
03:09And I'm sure you'd be able to relate to this, John.
03:11But they're asking him, what does grit mean to you?
03:15What are the strengths of your game?
03:16And he goes, the physicality, putting people on the ground.
03:20And then they're showing like film.
03:22Now they blur out the film, but watching him go through, well, here's what the guard will do.
03:26And if they looped, then here's who's got him.
03:29They were really impressed with Blake Miller.
03:32And you can see exactly why.
03:34Oh, they're excited, as am I.
03:36About, one, it's the mentality.
03:38Now it's one thing to say things, but then you back it up with the film.
03:41And you see that mentality translate to, I like to dominate people on the football field.
03:48It may take a little time for him to get there at the NFL level.
03:51But if he does, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho.
03:54Licking your chops.
03:55You have a Max Clark question.
03:56We'll get to it at 635.
03:57John Marossi, 702.
03:59Do you?
03:59Do you, of course.
