00:00Hello, this is TampiLongNose and welcome to a Minecraft Let's Play video and I'm sure you're probably wondering why I'm
00:06starting off this video on the Minecraft menu screen
00:08and that is because today I'm going to be doing the 404 challenge and I'm going to load up the
00:13map quickly while I explain what the 404 challenge is.
00:16It was made popular in the PC version and then it basically got read off as a new update, meant
00:21that the seeds wouldn't generate the same.
00:23But it's now back on the Xbox version as long as you haven't done the most recent update, the one
00:28that had a creative mode.
00:29And it basically is this big patch of gravel here and under that piece of gravel is a big pit
00:33and apparently there's just a massive cave in there.
00:36And the challenge is to basically go in the cave, see how long you can survive, see how deep you
00:39can get and that's pretty much it.
00:41And you've got the day to gather materials and stuff so basically I've got until sun goes down to get
00:47as many trees and saplings and stuff and get a load of wood and supplies before I go down into
00:52that pit.
00:53So that's what I'm going to do quickly now and then once you're into the pit you basically just explore.
00:56There's lots of different variants of it, a lot of them say that you're not allowed to use torches when
01:00you're in there.
01:01I am not going to be doing that basically because I'm making a video and if I was to go
01:05in there not using torches the video would be so dark and it would be really annoying to watch.
01:09So I'm going to allow myself to use torches and there's a whole load of people sort of posting how
01:14you should do it effectively and stuff.
01:15I've ignored all of that and I'm just going to go in completely blind and see how well I've got
01:19to do.
01:19So basically right now I want to go around, I want to get some seeds so once I get down
01:23there I can hopefully grow some wheat but most importantly I want to get wood and saplings because if I
01:29take some torches with me I should actually be able to plant some trees down in the pit so I
01:33should have a bit more of an endless supply of wood.
01:35So first thing I want to do is I want to make myself a crafting table and then I want
01:39to make myself an axe so I can get some wood slightly quicker.
01:42I'm not going to be able to make a stone axe yet though am I?
01:46Do I have enough to make a wooden axe?
01:47I don't have enough wood to make an axe.
01:49I hate that.
01:50I hate the fact that you need an axe to get wood and then you need wood to make an
01:53axe.
01:53You know it's just sort of that endless cycle of you not being able to do it.

01:58Oh no I need to make it into planks that's why.

02:00How long have I been playing Minecraft for and I still don't know how to make a bloody axe?
02:03So yeah this is a pretty cool thing and unfortunately it will be gone now that the update's come out.
02:08Assuming that the update has come out by the time we upload this video.
02:11I'm uploading this I believe hopefully probably about the time the update does come out.
02:16But if you feel annoyed that you've sort of missed out in doing this challenge and you think it's something
02:19that you would like to do.
02:20There will be places where you can download it online.
02:23If you didn't know you can actually download maps for the Xbox version.
02:26It's not easy per se.
02:28You need a PC to do it and you basically need a USB stick and you can sort of take
02:32maps from the PC and put them onto the Xbox and sort of vice versa.
02:36You can actually save your maps and bring them forward and then put them onto the PC.
02:39So that's a pretty cool thing that you can do but unfortunately I don't actually own a PC.
02:43I'm a Mac user and as far as I know you can't actually do it with the Mac so that's
02:48a bit crappy for me.
02:49That's why I sort of wanted to do this video now before I lose my opportunity to do it and
02:54I realised that I haven't done very well.
02:55I've only got 10 blocks of wood so far so I'm going to have to get a move on and
02:58get as much wood as I can.
02:59And then once I get down there my first priority will be able to get coal so I can put
03:03some torches up.
03:04There's no real point in making a bed because you don't really need to sleep since you're going to be
03:09underground.
03:10And this is just quite a cool little challenge and apparently it's really difficult.
03:12I've been speaking to some people that have been doing it and apparently they like survive for about 10 minutes
03:16and they always get killed or fall in lava or something like that.
03:18And apparently it's just like an absolutely massive cave system down there that goes on for ages.
03:22So yeah it's just a pretty cool little fun challenge that I thought I'd do and it's just something different
03:26for one of my videos.
03:27And so let's just try and get absolutely as much wood as I can.
03:30I would go and like try and get some stone to make like a stone axe or get some iron
03:34or something but I just don't think it's worth it.
03:35I don't think I'm going to have like the time to do much else.
03:38So my big priority is getting saplings I suppose because once I've got some saplings I can plant some trees
03:44down in the cave which is a bit of a weird thing to do.
03:46But I think that's going to be a better supply.
03:48I also want to take some flowers with me.
03:49So if I do make a little home down there I can decorate it with some flowers.
03:54Yeah don't think about using this video for tips if you want to do the challenge yourself because this is
03:58my first time attempting anything like this.
04:00And I am rubbish at anything in Minecraft to do with survival or like PvP stuff.
04:06I'm not very good at building but I don't know I think I spend enough time doing trial and error
04:10that I sometimes end up making something that looks semi good.
04:13But in terms of actually just like I don't know being efficient and being effective and tactical I'm not by
04:19far the best Minecraft player that there is online.
04:23But I don't know I've got a decent supply of wood now I've got 35 wood so I think that
04:29should do me okay.
04:30And I mean the main reason why you need wood is for obviously making all of your tools and for
04:33making torches.
04:34As I said there are variants where they say you're not allowed to use torches and the only way you'll
04:39be able to light is then by using lava.
04:41So you basically have to put like lava behind glass or something in order to light your way.
04:44I don't want to do that just because as I say half the video would be really dark and difficult
04:49for you to see.
04:49And I hate really dark Minecraft videos you know.
04:51I hate people that do like Minecraft videos at night and it's like really hard to see in the video.
04:56So I'm determined to not do that even though I know I am going to be going straight down into
05:00a cave.
05:01I suppose my priority should be making a sword to be honest.
05:04I know that the first thing I'm going to face is a bloody creeper or something down there so I
05:07really should make sure I equip myself.
05:09I don't know if it's going to be worth actually making like a wooden sword or something just before I
05:12go down there.
05:13Even though wooden swords are like the most useless thing in the world.
05:15You might as well hit them with a stick because wooden swords do absolutely suck.
05:19And I realise that my axe is just about to get destroyed so I'm going to quickly shove down a
05:22crafting table and make another one.
05:24And then I keep going to automatically make a stone axe.
05:27I realise that I don't even have enough materials to make a bloody stone axe.
05:30People always have a go at me in my world because I always still use stone tools.
05:34They're like why don't you use bloody iron or anything?
05:36And I don't know I've always felt that with iron because it can be used to make other things.
05:40Using it like as a tool is a bit of a waste because you know it's going to get destroyed.
05:45You know you're kind of just wasting the tool.
05:47And I don't know it doesn't take that much longer to destroy something with a stone pickaxe than it does
05:50an iron pickaxe.
05:52Yeah so apparently if I just break one of these blocks everything should just fall down.
05:55And oh my god it's just crushed me.
05:57That would have been a good start wouldn't it?
05:59I break the first block and I just get crushed by all the gravel.
06:01Oh this is really cool look at it all like really gradually falling down.
06:04Oh there's a nice little trail of water.
06:06So let's go down here this looks to be the safest way down going down through the water.
06:11It's basically just going to become like a big mining expedition.
06:14But I don't mind that.

06:20I do I do purposely try and like keep jokes down to a minimum in these videos.
06:24Like sometimes funny stuff happens sometimes like I don't know like I'll get killed by someone or my dog will
06:29do something stupid and it'll be funny.
06:31But in terms of just sort of bad puns and stuff I try and keep them down to a minimum
06:34because they're generally not very punny.

11:16But to be honest running out of stone isn't going to be my biggest problem down here.

11:21And this was the absolute worst place for me to go.

11:31You're supposed to like stick to like the natural cave.

11:41So as I said what I'm really looking for is like a kind of big open area where I can
11:46sort of set up some sort of a home base kind of type place.
11:49Somewhere where I can put some chests down.
11:51I can make a furnace and a crafting table and I can keep coming back to it.
11:54And this place might work all right.
11:55This is quite a big open area.
11:57I need to block it off a bit.
11:59I need to make sure that nothing can come at me from every direction.

12:54some cobblestone.
12:55And hopefully I can sort of set up some sort of a little base here.

13:45I've also sealed off all of the entrances so there's no way any more googly's can get
13:50in and scare me.
13:52I've put like the tree here with like a big open bit there and some of my mushrooms have
13:57spread.
13:58My brown mushroom wasn't spreading at all so I put it over here just in case it needs
14:02to be darker for it to spread.
14:04Though I'm not sure if it is actually going to spread.
14:06So in this video my goals are one get more mushrooms so I can make more mushroom stew to
14:13get my health back up because I have no way of getting my health up right now.
14:16Also I want to get some water because I want to make an infinite water source because I think
14:22water is a good thing to have.
14:23It's easy to get to places and like to put over lava and stuff like that.
14:27And yeah just explore.
14:29I also want to put torches like around the area near my house so that when I go in and
14:34out my house hopefully I won't get killed like the second I go out the door.
14:38But first I'm going to sort of just decorate the area in here a little bit.
14:41Like I'm never going to make this place look pretty.
14:43I mean bloody look at it.

14:44But I'm just going to put up a little sign down here just saying that this is in fact
14:48Stampy's Den.

16:03And plant those seeds down.
16:05Because you need free wheat in order to make some bread.
16:08And I've only got two right now.
16:10So I'm going to have to go venturing without any way of giving myself health.
16:14Which is a pretty dangerous thing to do.
16:16But I just want to spend the whole time hiding in here.
16:18I think that's not in the spirit of the 404 challenge.
16:21It's just to spend your whole time just sort of hiding in a cave down here.
16:24And not going to explore.
16:25So I'm going to make a bunch of torches now.
16:27And then I'm going to go out.
16:28And I'm going to try and like torch up the area.
16:30And try and make it so that like just outside of Stampy's Den isn't all dark.
16:35So that stuff won't come in.
16:36So this is where things are going to get dangerous.
16:38I think I'm quite lucky having the lava here.
16:40Because that sort of lights up the area a little bit anyway.
16:43So I think they shouldn't spawn directly out here.
16:45Oh no there's a zombie there.
16:46Look can you see those trousers.
16:47Can you see just those trousers of a zombie right there.
16:50Actually this is actually quite a good like trap.
16:52Because they can come at me.
16:54And then they just get taken straight to that lava and burn.
16:56And so I think I've got like quite a good like defence mechanism naturally there.
17:01So okay well let's venture forth.
17:03And just sort of see what I'm dealing with just outside my den here.
17:07I'm going to throw down as many torches as I can while on the way.
17:10A lot of lava down here.
17:12I think that's why like this place is so dangerous.
17:14There's just lava at like every single turn.
17:16And I can hear a skeleton.
17:17Actually no I think that was a skeleton dying in lava there.
17:19So that's okay.
17:20I don't mind if they die.
17:22I've actually collected up a whole load of redstone as well.
17:24Just in case I ever do need it for anything.
17:27I was going to set up some TNT traps.
17:29But I realised that to make TNT and like glass and stuff you need sand.
17:33And something that I didn't think about getting before I came down here was sand.
17:35And I really wish I did now.
17:36Because there's no way I'm going to get sand.
17:38Because I'm going to keep going down.
17:40You only really get like sand near the surface.
17:42That kind of sucks.
17:43And okay well I'm just sort of having a look around here.
17:46And hopefully not going to get lost and lose my house.
17:49And oh well I found some gold and a creeper.
17:50It's always like hot and cold you know.
17:52You find something good and then you find something that's going to try and kill you.
17:55You never just find something good.
17:56But I'm just going to get rid of this guy down here.

18:05Like it doesn't really matter if a creeper explodes.
18:07The only time like a creeper is a big nuisance is if you're really weak and about to die.
18:12Or like if it's near your house and it's going to blow everything up.

18:16I remember seeing all this gold before and getting annoyed that like I lost it.
18:19It looks like I went in like a massive circle or something then.
18:22I also remember Googly's attacking me here.
18:25So I'm going to have to be very much on my guard.

18:27I found a literal gold mine down here.
18:29I think I'm quite near where I set up my old base.
