00:00Five controversial plots from the Turkish series Mrs. Fazalet and Her Daughters that the Mexican
00:06remake Mrs. Garcia and Her Daughters preferred to stay far away from. Fazalet didn't want her
00:13eldest daughter to be born. When the daughter's in the hospital, there's a scene where the mother,
00:18relieved that she's okay, guiltily remembers when she was pregnant and used to hit her belly
00:23trying to lose the baby. Hazan was the product of her husband's abuse. The man abused Fazalet and
00:30later bought her from her family. The high school student married to an old man. Ece was still in
00:39school when she married Hazim. There's even a scene where the entire school bullies her because of it
00:44and she has to lock herself in the bathroom. Well, I think this change was more than necessary, right?
00:50Mar was already in her 20s, so it was more acceptable for her to marry a much older man.
00:56The supposed affair between Ece and Yaz, the character equivalent to Nicholas.
01:03Before the wedding with Hazim, several characters actually thought Ece was dating the adopted son,
01:09so much so that Yasin, the jealous ex-boyfriend, breaks into the family mansion armed, trying to
01:15hurt poor Yaz. On top of that, when she finds out her daughter is pregnant, Fazalet believes Yaz is the
01:22baby's father.
01:25The sides.
01:27More than one character takes their own life at the end of the original Turkish series.
01:33Karima, the psychopathic mother, ends up in prison, just like in the Mexican version.
01:37But Yaz wasn't as understanding as Nicholas, who opened up to getting to know his biological mother.
01:44Seeing herself completely abandoned and tormented by guilt, the woman hangs herself in her cell.
01:50It's important to remember that Karima even tried to bury Hazan and Yaz alive, while Rocio just played
01:57gossip girl by filming Valeria and Nicholas kissing. Later, she even shot her son, but it was more of an
02:04accidentally-purpose thing. Another one who ends her own existence is Selene, the annoying youngest
02:11daughter, who, after committing several crimes and being completely out of her mind, shoots herself in
02:17the head in front of the family.
02:19Sinan's evil side.
02:21In the Mexican version, after Arthur finds out about Nicholas and Valeria, he stays a bit pissed for a day
02:27or two,
02:28then decides to respect her decision. The original character, however, becomes highly detestable,
02:34inventing amnesia stories, manipulating everyone around him, and even revealing the truth about
02:40his brother's origins in the cruelest and most humiliating way possible.
02:45What did you think of the Mexican remake deciding to cut all these controversial events?
02:51Was it better this way? After all, it's an adaptation that, besides being shorter, had to adapt to its
02:57country's audience? Or, considering that several Mexican plots have even darker storylines, should
03:03they have included more from the original version? On one hand, I can't help but see the Mexican
03:09version as shallow and condensed, even though I like it a lot. On the other hand, it managed to make
03:15some characters more palatable, and the novella ended up being lighter to watch. For those who love heavy
03:22drama, the Turkish one is definitely the preferred choice. For those who enjoy a less dense story and don't like
03:29to suffer too much, the Mexican one is the safer version. I like both, but I see them as separate
03:35productions with different proposals.
