00:25I'm an Afro-Latina, and it's amazing to see Essence celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.
00:31I'm honored. I'm sure my whole family's going to be going crazy.
00:34The ones in New York and the ones in Puerto Rico, they're going to be like, yes, got to get
00:37Essence.
00:38So it's important, you know, to celebrate your culture, to celebrate your roots and who you are.
00:44So to be able to be a face of that and to be celebrated is amazing.
00:58When Afro-Latina women see this, I want them to see a strong, powerful woman that is a representation of
01:04who they are.
01:05That represents finally being recognized because for so long, you know, when you heard just the word Latina, this look
01:12is not what you thought of.
01:18I'm so proud to be black. I'm proud to be Hispanic, and I want to be celebrated as an Afro
01:23-Latina because that's important to me.
01:25That's my culture. I'm black and I'm Puerto Rican.
01:29It's amazing to be able to represent such amazing people, amazing cultures, amazing style, amazing swag.
01:36So I'm honored.
01:41My number one title is being a mom. It's the most rewarding.
01:44There is no rule book going, OK, do it this way and you're going to get that outcome, do it
01:49that way.
01:49You just got to try and see what works for your kid.
01:52But being a mom has brought me the most joy in my entire life.
01:56So shout out to my son, Kyanne.
02:00And the career part, I mean, I love to be able to do a lot of different things.
02:04I always said I wasn't going to let anybody put me in a box and just say, OK, you start
02:08on the radio.
02:09That's all you could do. You're on TV. That's all you could do.
02:11I was like, why can't I do a bunch of different things and be extremely successful at all of them?
02:16And I'm showing that you can do that.
02:18And I just want to be an inspiration for people out there.
02:21I make sure to tell young girls and young women that, like, so many times we try to find validation
02:27from everyone on the outside.
02:28And that's what makes us feel good when it all starts and ends with yourself.
02:32Because no matter what you do, not everybody's going to like it.
02:34Somebody's watching this and not going to like my hair.
02:36Somebody's watching this and not going to like these gloves.
02:38Somebody's watching this and not going to like these gloves.
02:39It's just people.
02:40No one's going to ever like everything you do.
02:42As long as you feel confident and strong in whatever you're doing, that's all that matters and that's important.
