The group of Rohingya refugees who gathered outside the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Jalan Bukit Petaling on Monday (July 27) have been moved to the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent Headquarters for documentation and identity verification.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus confirmed that all 126 foreign nationals were transferred to the police headquarters on Monday night.

00:10has returned to normal following the relocation of 126 Rohingya refugees who had set up a temporary settlement there.
00:18Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsas said the area is a sensitive location
00:25and cannot be used as a temporary settlement by any individual or group.
00:30He said police, together with the Immigration Department, relocated all 126 refugees
00:36to the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent Headquarters for screening and documentation.
00:42According to Fadil, those without valid documents will be detained,
00:46while the status of refugees holding valid UNHCR cards will be verified by the UNHCR.
00:54He added that the UNHCR, together with its support units and non-governmental organizations,
01:01will identify suitable accommodation for refugees whose documents are confirmed to be valid
01:07as they cannot be detained under the Immigration Act.
01:10Of the 126 refugees relocated, 58 were adults, while the remainder were children.
01:18The relocation operation began at about 8.20pm on Monday,
01:23using four police trucks after the two vehicles initially deployed
01:27were found to be insufficient to transport the refugees and their belongings.
01:33Checks on Tuesday morning found no Rohingya refugees remaining outside the UNHCR office.
01:40Only refugees with scheduled appointments were seen entering the premises,
01:45while Alam Flora workers carried out clean-up operations at the site.
