The answer is in your past. Thousands of years ago, humans had thick fur. When they were scared, their fur stood up to make them look bigger and scare predators.
Today we don't have fur, but we still have the same muscle called arrector pili. When you feel strong emotion, cold, fear, or listen to emotional music, your brain triggers it.
That is why you get goosebumps when you hear your favorite song. Your body thinks you still have fur.
