00:00All right, let's hit the skins.
00:01Trading camp is upon us.
00:04Isn't that a good thing to say?
00:06It is great to say.
00:08I may have gotten my dates off by one day.
00:11Today is 27th, correct?
00:13Today is 27th.
00:14So players report tomorrow.
00:15That's tomorrow.
00:16That's tomorrow, not today.
00:18I couldn't keep it in my pants for trading camp,
00:22so I was one day early.
00:24Tomorrow, that's important.
00:26Rookies have been there since Friday.
00:29Yes, they report on the 24th.
00:32Well, there's obviously a lot going on.
00:34Still a lot of questions.
00:35It'll be interesting to see as the veterans report
00:39and the real competition starts to heat up.
00:41Who kind of shakes out where?
00:43The one position that all of us in the media
00:46and the fan base has been really hyper-focused on
00:49has been the wide receiver position.
00:52Hopefully there's some more stability there.
00:54People are still wondering who's going to be that number two guy.
00:56But with Terry there under contract
00:59and not missing anything,
01:00certainly has something to prove
01:01after really kind of going through
01:03his first real injury-plagued season last season,
01:06expecting him to rebound back into form.
01:10But he's pretty confident in this group.
01:12He's got some great quotes.
01:15As far as everybody kind of knows what Terry's going to do,
01:18provided he's able to stay healthy
01:20and get back on track.
01:21But who's going to be that next guy?
01:24And here's what Terry says.
01:25Somebody's going to step up.
01:27Most of the guys are going to step up.
01:29And I think guys are going to be ready for their opportunities.
01:31We have guys who've played in the league.
01:33We have guys who've had success.
01:34We have guys who are just waiting for the opportunity
01:36to really show what they can do.
01:37And as a leader,
01:39I'm just looking forward to help pushing the room,
01:41having them push me as well.
01:42I'm looking forward to see who steps up
01:44because somebody will.
01:47You think DQ will tell me tonight
01:49who he expects to be the number two?
01:51I don't know.
01:52I'm going to guess he will dance around it.
01:56He's going to dance around it.
01:56If you ask him that directly.
01:58Now, I'm going to get into some of these options here.
02:02John Kime actually put out his 53-man roster prediction.
02:07Okay.
02:08And let me see.
02:09I want to make sure I have it right in front of me.
02:11It's nothing super surprising, to be honest with you.
02:17Just give me a second.
02:18I've got to make sure I pull it up.
02:19I was going to say,
02:20can I try and predict the receivers?
02:23Yeah, of course.
02:25But, yeah, if you want to go through the receivers, go ahead.
02:27All right.
02:27So, obviously, T-Mac, Berks, Antonio, Diami, McCaffrey, Lane,
02:37and I'm going to guess Van Jefferson.
02:39No, Van Jefferson's not there.
02:40He has only six.
02:41Oh, he only has six.
02:42He has only six.
02:42So, who knows?
02:43I mean, it's just an early prediction.
02:44All right.
02:45But it was interesting to me.
02:46Van Jefferson's first guy that when DQ,
02:49when these guys were having their minicamps hyped up
02:51and talked about was Van Jefferson.
02:54You know, he certainly has made some positive impressions.
02:56But if he keeps six, he might be on the outside looking in.
02:59Who knows?
03:00Of course, injuries can happen.
03:01That can change things.
03:03Guys will also be released and then re-signed to the practice squad,
03:06including veterans, and they're just going to rotate some of these guys.
03:09So, it almost doesn't matter.
03:11You know, in their overall, like, 75 or 80 guys,
03:15whatever the number is that they keep,
03:16that there's going to be a couple extra guys here at receiver.
03:20They're going to have seven or eight at their disposal.
03:23But on the final 53 for week one, at least for now,
03:27John thinks that Van might be on the outside looking in.
03:31At quarterback, he has just Jaden and Marcus.
03:34I think most people would agree with that.
03:36The question will be, what do they do with the kid from Rutgers,
03:38and are they going to finally let go of Sam Hartman?
03:41I don't know.
03:41I mean, the Rutgers kid, he's got practice squad written all over him.
03:45Why would you keep Sam Hartman?
03:47Right.
03:48Like, what's the point?
03:49Like, last season when they were basically forced to play Sam Hartman,
03:53they looked outside the building.
03:54Yeah.
03:54The only thing you can say is...
03:55I don't understand what the point is.
03:57I don't know.
03:57Maybe a good team guy.
03:58Maybe a guy that he has a lot of room.
03:59And J.D. likes him.
04:00He's probably good around J.D.
04:01I mean, who knows?
04:02Well, Jaden can hire him as his personal assistant.
04:05Right.
04:07Hire him as his friend.
04:08My guess.
04:08Do whatever he has to do.
04:09I would think Hartman would be...
04:10I don't know if he wants to coach,
04:12but I would think he'd be good coaching candidate.
04:15Yeah, I think coaching would be big in his future.
04:16After he gets his modeling career out of the way.
04:19Once again, it's ugly.
04:21The running back room was kind of interesting to me
04:22when you look at John's breakdown.
04:24He has four running backs there,
04:27but they don't include Jeremy McNichols.
04:31Now, of course, I think unless someone picks him up,
04:34I think they would bring him back again
04:36and he'd be part of that 80 or 90 guys,
04:37whatever the number is that they keep.
04:40Have him on the practice squad.
04:41But he has, his final 53, Rashad White, Bill,
04:46Catron, and Jerome Ford.
04:48Ah, Jerome Ford, okay.
04:50Or the top side during the offseason.
04:52With no McNichols.
04:54Tight end, pretty standard.
04:56Chig, John Bates, Ben, Sinnott, and Colson Yankoff.
05:01We talked about wide receiver.
05:03Offensive line, no real surprises there.
05:06Tunsil, Paul, Allegretti, Cosme, Connerly, Coleman, Wiley,
05:10Trent Scott, Matt Goulbin.
05:12That's the center that they drafted.
05:14I guess maybe the biggest battle will be,
05:17they say Allegretti is battling,
05:19but he's got like 39 starts.
05:21Like, who's he battling?
05:22He's by far the most...
05:23Probably just Goulbin.
05:25He's by far the most veteran center on the roster.
05:27But I believe only there's four starts at center.
05:29Yeah.
05:30Right.
05:30So, not a lot of experience there.
05:32And then Coleman and Paul,
05:35I think people think,
05:37based on Coleman's athleticism,
05:39he might have the edge there,
05:41especially if they go to zone...
05:42People think they're going to have a zone-blocking scheme
05:45in that running game.
05:47Defensive lineman, John's got Payne,
05:49Kinlaw, Settle,
05:51Amenahue,
05:52Johnny Newton,
05:53and Dietrich Wise.
05:55Linebacker,
05:56Dorrance Armstrong,
05:57Owe,
05:58Frankie Louvu,
05:59Sonny Stiles,
06:00Leo Chennault,
06:00I can't wait to see.
06:03Chase on,
06:04Josh Josephs,
06:05the draft pick from Tennessee,
06:08Jordan McGee,
06:09Nick Ballore,
06:10and Kane Madrona.
06:11That's 10 linebackers.
06:13So, Frankie Louvu will be a second teamer.
06:16Probably.
06:18I don't know.
06:20I don't know that.
06:20Chennault will start.
06:21Sonny Stiles.
06:23I thought,
06:23I'd always assume...
06:24Chase on will probably start.
06:27Yeah.
06:27So, I don't know if Louvu will start over any of those guys.
06:30I mean, but you know that Owe's going to be out there a lot, too.
06:33So, I don't know.
06:33It's just kind of like how you characterize him.
06:35Yeah, I just consider him an edge guy, but...
06:37Yeah, me too.
06:38Just on the depth chart.
06:39Armstrong.
06:40Armstrong's an edge guy, too.
06:41I think you're like sort of traditional linebackers,
06:44the way we think of it,
06:45is going to be Louvu-style Chennault.
06:47That would be my guess.
06:50Coroner, Trey Amos, Mike Sanistro, Amik Robertson, and Rasul Douglas,
06:55they recently signed.
06:57By the way, are there concerns about Trey Amos starting season on the pup list?
07:02I initially did not think so because this is...
07:06I feel like this is kind of what they do.
07:08Like, if guys have been injured, like the end of the regular season,
07:10kind of injured or had issues, they're just going to wait.
07:12I feel like it's a formality, but maybe I'm being naive.
07:16Maybe he's really hurt.
07:17I mean, he suffered a fractured fibula on November 9th.
07:20Yeah.
07:21I think it's more procedural.
07:24Let's hope so.
07:25That's my guess.
07:26That's a guy they're counting on to be a starter.
07:28Yeah.
07:29I think there would be a little more urgency
07:31if they thought he was going to miss significant time.
07:34Right.
07:34I feel like this is just more procedural.
07:36But we'll see.
07:36If I could raise one eyebrow, I would have one eyebrow raised.
07:40With Trey.
07:40I can't just raise one eyebrow, though.
07:42Not in my genetics.
07:44It is interesting that there is a kicking battle,
07:48and I guess if you had to bet right now,
07:51John is going to give it to the veteran, Jake Moody.
07:55Over Drew Stevens.
07:56Yeah.
07:56The rookie, though, if they could keep him around,
07:59I think there would be no doubt they would re-sign him to the practice squad.
08:03People still talking about Stefan Diggs, potentially,
08:07even though we went through the receiver room,
08:09and Terry thinks that you've got to just trust that the guys are going to step up.
08:16Diggs is still out there.
08:17This is Keenan Allen.
08:18But I did see a report.
08:20I don't know if you guys also saw this.
08:22But the Diggs, certainly he is interested in Washington.
08:27I also saw he's interested in the Ravens.
08:29Must play near his hometown.
08:32Must stay local.
08:33If LBs, could you chime in?
08:35I don't know the Ravens personnel.
08:36Well, their receiver room, could they use some help?
08:40Yeah.
08:40I mean, Zay Flowers is their number one.
08:43And then Bateman's always been kind of hit or miss, often injured.
08:47They just drafted two wide receivers.
08:50Pretty high.
08:51One from USC.
08:53God, I forget his name.
08:54That was Jacoby Lane, right?
08:56Jacoby Lane, and then another from Indiana.
08:59Yep.
08:59Surratt.
09:00Yep.
09:00So maybe there's an opportunity there, of course.
09:02They always like to find some veteran receiver.
09:05They did it last year with DeAndre Hopkins.
09:07I actually think the commander should take a look at DeAndre Hopkins.
09:11Really?
09:12Yes.
09:13He still has it.
09:15I thought he played very well last season as a Ravens.
09:18When given an opportunity.
09:19Now he was only in 20% of the snaps a game.
09:23I think he did.
09:24Didn't he suit up for like 15 games or something like that?
09:26Yeah.
09:26I mean, his usage was low.
09:28So when JP goes and looks at the stats, it's not going to be impressive.
09:31But he was effective when he was in.
09:33He showed up at Patriots training camp, but he was like, not as a player, he was like
09:40helping out like the coaching staff like a couple days ago.
09:42Maybe that's what he sees his future as.
09:44I don't know.
09:45Very weird.
09:46Maybe he's still like a coaching internship while he's looking for a new game.
09:50I don't know.
09:51Possibly, yeah.
09:51But there are still some big names that teams are going to pluck some of these guys.
09:55They just are.
09:56Well, Keenan Allen's out there.
09:57Of course, we talk about Debo's out there.
09:59Where I've heard some say that Debo's style doesn't necessarily fit Blau.
10:03That's one reason why he may not have been sort of already plucked by Washington.
10:10And then Diggs is out there.
10:12Diggs, of course, 33.
10:14But he had another 1,000-yard season last year.
10:17Seven of his last eight seasons.
10:19The one year he didn't have 1,000 yards was the year that he was cut short with the ACL.
10:25And by the way, he had that 1,000-yard season with Drake May playing only, I believe, 55%
10:30of the offensive snaps.
10:33Still super productive.
10:34May was going after him.
10:35Yeah.
10:35And unlike, you know, Brandon Ayuk in that saga, I mean, Diggs is showing you that he's putting in the
10:43work.
10:44Constantly putting out workout videos and that sort of thing.
10:48Diggs seems like the lesser of the two divas between him and Ayuk.
10:52I never thought I'd say that, but that clearly seems to be the case.
10:56And then, not that it really matters, but Ayuk is still in limbo.
11:04The Niners were asked about it.
11:06John Lynch was, you know, cordial.
11:10He understood why they had to ask the question, but that he's on the left squad designation.
11:15He's not on their 90-man roster.
11:18And then he says, we as an organization, we're going to focus on the players that are here.
11:24I don't have anything to say on that other than to add, we wish him well, and we wish his
11:28family well.
11:30But he's kind of in like a purgatory.
11:32Yeah, behind the scenes.
11:33I got so many questions about him tonight.
11:35Behind the scenes, they would say, we hate that guy.
11:36We never want to see him ever, ever again.
11:38And we can't wait to release him.
11:41Someone texted JP and I yesterday and said, I just saw Brandon Ayuk at the Cooper's Hawk restaurant, which is
11:47right in Ashburn.
11:49It's probably true.
11:50I've driven by that.
11:50And he said, he yelled his name, and Ayuk threw up two fingers.
11:55He was driving some red sports car.
11:57Okay.
11:58And I said, hmm, that's very interesting.
12:01I don't know where he lives, where he's staying.
12:04I have no idea.
12:05What if he drops in on the commander's happy hour tonight?
12:08That would be interesting.
12:10That would be awkward.
12:11That would be a weird bit if he did.
12:13But it would be funny.
12:15Oh, that would be amazing.
12:19I don't know.
12:20I'm just trying to look at the...
12:22I don't know how many spots there really are open when you look at this.
12:27When you look at their 53-man...
12:29Yeah, it looks like they're pretty solid.
12:30I feel like they're pretty set, barring a training camp disaster where somebody goes down.
12:36Let's hope that doesn't happen.
12:38If they don't sign anyone, who do you think is going to emerge as their number two receiver?
12:44Well, I now have a vested interest in Antonio Williams beating that guy because I made a bet on Friday
12:49that he would have 50 catches as a rookie.
12:51That's a lot of catches.
12:52I know what you're doing.
12:53You're doing the Amon Ra bit.
12:55I'm trying to manifest it.
12:56I'm trying to make this happen.
12:58I'm trying to get it out into the universe.
13:00I'd love to see it.
13:00I feel like I see something special in him and the way he runs routes.
13:03I believe if you look at his college records, you mentioned DeAndre Hopkins.
13:08I believe he broke several of DeAndre Hopkins records.
13:11All I need is about three and a half catches per week.
13:14I don't think that's too much to ask.
13:17Well, I'm just going to see how early he emerges.
13:19For a rookie, this is...
13:20Yeah.
13:20You've got to see how early he emerges.
13:22There's going to be some games where he gets none.
13:25One, two, possibly.
13:27If he comes out of the gates hot, though, he gets like six in week one, eight in week two.
13:32Oh, then you're on your way.
13:33I'll be counting JP's money if that's the case.
13:36But as Cakes mentioned earlier, tomorrow is the official day for all the veterans to officially show up.
13:43Of course, most of them have been there in and out most of the offseason.
13:47We haven't had any situation where we've had a guy just blowing off all the camps and just hanging out
13:52at the beach like we have in years past.
13:54Even guys like Tunsil have showed up.
13:57So they'll show up and then I assume they're on the field.
14:00First practice Wednesday.
14:01On Wednesday.
14:01Yes.
14:02There you go.
14:03Not sure the exact starting time, but they will be on the field practicing Wednesday.
14:06And fans, I believe, are invited Saturday.
14:09I think it's the first day fans will be out there.
14:11So it's here, man.
14:12Yep, it's coming.
14:13All right, when we come back, we will pivot over to the NBA.
14:16Big news broke on Friday.
14:19LeBron finally made his pick.
14:21He picked the Philadelphia 76ers.
14:22I think I owe JP some money.
14:23I thought it was going to be Miami.
14:25You might.
14:26I think I owe JP five bucks.
14:27Let's check the bet book on that.
14:29Are the Sixers now the favorites going forward by landing LeBron?
14:33We will discuss next here on The Fan.
