00:00If your aesthetic is this, then here is your personalized story time about whether coffee
00:06helps you live longer. I wish it was a clean yes or no, but it's biology, so the answer is
00:11maybe.
00:11After a huge study on nearly 30,000 women and their coffee drinking, turns out that no amount
00:17of coffee was linked to making it to age 90. But this kind of research can't prove cause and effect.
00:22Like, it might be linked to a lower risk of dying earlier in adulthood, but it can't tell us that
00:27coffee has zero effect either. So in that group, coffee wasn't like a longevity cheat code.
00:33But other big studies that look at dying earlier often find that coffee drinkers have a lower risk
00:38of premature death. In some huge studies, coffee drinkers had about a 7 to 12% lower risk of dying
00:43during the study period compared to non-coffee drinkers. And it's not just lifespan. Across
00:48lots of research, coffee intake is often linked with lower risks for things like type 2 diabetes
00:52and some liver disease outcomes. But just because coffee isn't a cheat code to live to 90, experts
00:58say it can still be part of a lifestyle linked to better health when drank in moderation.
