00:00with the latest. Yes, so Charleston to Wilmington today finds themselves in a level three out of
00:05four, so that's where some of the heaviest rain will be falling. We're talking about three inch
00:08per hour rainfall rates possible. That's why you see that red area that includes Myrtle Beach right
00:14in the center of it. We've seen these heavy showers. Obviously, we know what this front can
00:18do. It's taken its sweet time getting through, and we're going to see this all the way through
00:22Saturday afternoon. So if you have plans to go to the beach, looks like the coast gets some of the
00:27heaviest even going through Saturday afternoon down through Garden City, Charleston, Myrtle Beach
00:32included. Some of those totals could still top four to six plus inches. Here's the silver lining.
00:38North Carolina, 28 percent of it is in the second highest level of drought or was in yesterday's
00:44update from the drought monitor. This will be helpful, at least for that part, guys. Yeah,
00:49we'll take the silver lining. Okay, Ginger, thanks. Oh, Jimothy. Okay, so let's do this. Let's talk about
00:55several fires that are burning in Washington and Oregon out in the Pacific Northwest. It was hot
01:01earlier this week. Now they've got this, the Roe Creek complex fire. 31 percent contained evacuations,
01:06though. They're still in effect. The heat is building and has been very hot in Southern California,
01:11parts of Arizona, and it will stay that way through the end of the weekend. But look what's
01:15about to happen as it builds into the Rockies. Denver above 100, both Saturday and Sunday. Rapid City,
01:22106 and 105. Billings, Montana, above that 100-degree mark. Add humidity, and Sunday through next
01:28Thursday, going to be hot in the middle of the country. Your local weather in 30 seconds.
01:31The day, Sophie Flay is here with the story of a good Samaritan doubling as Spider-Man.
01:35Incredible. He was fast, too. Yes, he was. Shout out to him.
01:39That's a real man. I hope he gets lots of work with a nice young man.
01:42Thank you, Sophie, for that. Coming up, a sweet new arrival. A little 76-pound bundle of joy. Baby
01:49manatee born at the Tampa Zoo is the first in more than a decade they've had there. The mom was
01:54rescued earlier this summer, June 5th. So beautiful to see all of that working out. Then I wanted to
02:00just show you Florida. Yeah, still hazy, hot and humid. They have stayed that way and going to be
02:06that way. Look at Orlando at 104 for the feels likes. Tampa, same deal. Going through the weekend,
02:10it's going to be pretty toasty in Miami, too. They have seen significant improvement in drought.
02:15Coming up, turns out the terrible... Hey, good morning to you, Whit. So it really gives you
02:20perspective of what happened in West Virginia. This was Tuesday, remember, the flash flooding
02:23sucking that vehicle under that bridge. So just new images coming in that really emphasize how
02:28powerful this front has been. Then in Statesville, North Carolina, trees down on top of cars. We had
02:34them throughout because the soil got really saturated very quickly. Today, we still have a threat,
02:40a level three out of four. Four flash flooding from Wilmington down to Charleston, including Myrtle Beach.
02:45You could see three inch per hour rainfall rates. That comes down really quickly through tomorrow.
02:50So tomorrow afternoon, we could end up with more than four, upwards of a half foot of rain. Now,
02:56that's some good news because they've had a drought. But look what happens on the other side of that kind
03:01of
03:01system that's been in the southeast. Heat is building from extreme heat warnings in Palm Springs to
03:06Billings, Montana. And now Extreme Heat Watch is giving you a heads up from Minnesota down through Iowa. We are
03:12going to be super hot going through the end of the weekend.
03:15Start of next week. Look at the numbers. Billings staying above 100. Daily records possible in Rapid City,
03:20Denver into Texas. Add a little humidity. The corn is going to be sweating and adding to that humidity.
03:26Kearney, Nebraska feels like 114 this weekend. Rebecca? You just made me want some corn. Okay,
03:44be more present during those critical teenage years. So I love this conversation. We've all been going
03:48ahead and tell you myself as a parent of a tween. Be present, be more involved, but also giving them
03:53their spins. Yeah, right. It's tricky though, but I love the idea. I love the idea, but I also think
03:58it's
03:58very important to show kids hard work and be an example. You know, it goes both ways. Totally. Be
04:05present is, I think, the bottom line. And once a parent, always a parent, even when they leave. I know.
04:11Right. Okay. Talk to me, sister. Yeah, my parents know that well. It doesn't end. We're going to go
04:17now to superstar singer Shania Twain revealing what it takes for her to stay at the top of her game.
04:23And
04:23Sophie Flay is back with the Grammy winners pre the food. Yeah, that's right. I'm so happy for her.
04:29What a renaissance. It's incredible. Wow. Thanks Sophie for that. And Larry,
04:33you got some pop news. I do indeed. We're going to begin guys with John Mayer. The Grammy winner has
04:38been honored with a live. Tom was saying that one of the most difficult parts of the wings. It's not
04:43the
04:43wings. It's the milk. It's the gallons of milk that you have to chug afterwards. But he stayed so earnest
04:49through the whole thing, which is so in chill. So good. All right, we're going to go to Jen.
04:53Yeah. Yes. And if you're not, you know, cooling off at the library, maybe you've got to head
04:57decorate. And you can dream of that decoration right here at our GMA Beach Club. We are serving
05:02us some tasty tropical drinks. Janet, cheers for everybody in the audience. But also,
05:07we're all getting ready for Grammy winner and R&B singer Coco Jones to take the stage for our special
05:14concert series. Everyone's excited for that new single. Yes, we are. We are having such a good
05:20time playing. You've got some of the connect four, of course, right here at our beach. I don't know if
05:25you noticed, but the water's warm, right? We put our toes in already. And our sponsor, Norwegian Cruise Line
05:30has a great spot for enjoying a day at the beach as well. They are redefining the privacy. It's designed
05:36with younger guests in mind. Of course, you can scan the QR code for the exclusive GMA discount of up
05:41to $500
05:42off select sailings on Norwegian Cruise Lines. Let's get a check now. Cheers to everyone because Coco's
05:49coming up. Let's get a check a little closer to home. Oh, so good. Thanks so much for watching,
05:54everybody. Thanks for Coco for being here. Yes, have an amazing weekend. Thank you.
06:03Coming up here on GMA3, how one nonprofit is making sure that there is access for everyone at the stunning
06:10Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Plus, GMA game day is at the heart of the flag football
06:15universe, home of this weekend's NFL flag championships. And we've got the right stuff
06:21in clothing to keep you cool in these hot summer months. You don't want to miss it all when we
06:26come
06:26back. On to Coco Jones earlier this morning on GMA and the Grammy Award winner, the R&B singer,
06:33the actress. She is joining us right now. Just released a brand new single, Body So T, that is
06:39climbing the charts, and she is working on a new album as well. So early this morning. Thanks for
06:45getting up so early. We saw that performance there. Your new single is out. Talk about what inspired it
06:51and what you're looking forward to. I just feel to be part of the new album, which you are working
06:55on,
06:56but you posted recently saying you're not entirely sure where it's going. Why did you want to be so
07:01transparent with fans about that? Has everything all the way together. And sometimes, like,
07:06I'm not posting because I don't have it all together. And that, like, maybe, you know, I'm
07:10gone somewhere living my life, and I'm engaged, and I don't care about, you know, I think about music
07:14every day. I just felt like I didn't have this perfect answer. So I was rather like, either I
07:19explained that I don't understand right now, or I just wait until I do understand. And it just felt
07:23better to share. And in addition to your incredible music career, you also have a very busy rom-com
07:28coming out called That's Her. So tell us a little bit about that move. Also, it was my first time
07:33executive producing anything film and TV, and that was really cool as well to, like, be behind the
07:39camera. I'm warm, so I'm excited for the film. What a slice of life you're really in right now, because
07:44also, you mentioned it, you are engaged to Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell.
07:48Congratulations. Yes, congratulations.
07:50So many dresses and events and performances and cameras and photos, but this is nothing to do with her. You
07:56know,
07:56I want to forget that I'm a singer, honestly. I want to forget that I'm a musician and that I'm
07:59in this
08:00world at all, and I just want to be me, the woman who's marrying somebody I love. So that's going
08:04to
08:04be my favorite part. Well, congratulations on everything. Thank you. I truly appreciate you
08:08coming in as well. Thank you so much, you guys. Thank you. And we will be right back after this.
08:14That's a good plan to try to do it just at you.
