00:02President Donald Trump is reinstating broad tariffs hours before a temporary global levy expires,
00:07keeping trade policy in focus for investors, according to Benzinga.
00:11The administration said imports from 60 trading partners will face tariffs of 10% to 12.5%
00:18beginning at 12.01 a.m. Eastern Time on Friday.
00:21Countries with stronger enforcement against goods made with forced labor will receive the 10% rate,
00:26while others will face 12.5%.
00:28The tariffs replace a temporary 10% worldwide levy
00:32and are being imposed under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974.
00:36Goods already in transit are exempt through July 28th,
00:40while oil, gas, fertilizer, certain foods, Section 232 products, and USMCA-compliant goods are also excluded.
00:49The move preserves much of Trump's tariff strategy after the Supreme Court struck down earlier emergency-based duties
00:55and keeps inflation, corporate margins, and supply chain costs in focus for markets.
