Women weren't required in U.S. clinical research until 1993. Not the '60s. 1993.
Most of modern medicine got built without us in the room, and for Black women, the record is thinner still.
Every dosage, every "normal" range, every side effect they call rare: measured mostly on men, or on bodies that weren't
ours.
@kepthealth, of the @newvoicefamily founders, hosted UNFILED at Unbothered & Well, our live experience at @essencefest. Their pop-up explored what happens when women's health goes undocumented and what could change if we finally had the data on our bodies that we deserve.

00:00This is Kept Health. Today we are showcasing our unfiled women's health data exhibit. We were not
00:06included in clinical studies until 1993. This exhibit is meant to showcase the gaps in women's
00:13health information, specifically conditions and symptoms that women of color face. So I'll take
00:18you through and show you what the ladies will be able to see. So here we have the unknown data.
00:24This is where there's nothing at all. There are different conditions that you see here,
00:29like personalized care, AI decision support. You'll also see that there's some locked drawers,
00:35which means we haven't even tapped into what's really going on within our space. Trust is a big
00:41thing for us. When we go to the doctor, we are hesitant, scared, anxious, have all of these
00:48emotions when we're there. And so sometimes we're reluctant to share our information to help inform
00:55decisions. However, our hope is that we can bring awareness to our community so that we can be
01:00a solution to the problem.
