00:14see my transformation, subscribe below. I want to get a long lob today because I've
00:20been wanting to get this haircut for a while and I was trying to get it when I
00:23was in Korea but I wasn't able to. I just didn't have the courage because the
00:28style wasn't really in and so I've been waiting to get it when I come back to
00:34the state so here I am. I hope the stylist tells me before I cut my hair that I'm
00:39gonna look super cute. My name is Michael Sparks. I'm a hairstylist specializing in
00:48cutting working out of Tab and Sparks in Santa Monica. So I kind of want to keep
00:51it a little bit longer but I do want to change your look. Cool. I think kind of
00:55like a lob. Something that's not a bob but something a little longer. Cool. We
00:59would look hot. All right. As long as I'm hot. You'll be hot. Okay cool. So first
01:05thing first is I'm gonna drape Cayenne then I'm gonna wet her hair completely
01:09wetting.
01:12I'm just so excited. I haven't been this excited since quarantine started.
01:17Especially about my looks like there hasn't been a big change so this is
01:20definitely like refreshing. I'm gonna section out the back of the hair first.
01:26Go up section by section. Cut completely down. Use scissors, clippers, razor. I'm gonna
01:33want to build any unnecessary layers.
01:38This is the first time I cut my hair shorter in the last five, seven years. I had my
01:46short really short when I was in college. Oh my god that means I was in college five or seven
01:52years ago.
01:53Should I put that on camera? I love changing my hair a lot. I've done a lot of hair
01:57coloring because I'm an actor. On my last show, American Gods season two, I was doing
02:02a lot of fun hair color like pink, blue, purple, everything. So normally I just do my
02:07hair depending on what kind of character I'm playing but since we're in quarantine and
02:11nothing is really going on. I wanted a big change that I want it for myself and this is just
02:17perfect.
02:19Once I'm done with the perimeter, I will blow dry it the way that I blow dry. I like to,
02:23especially with this kind of a haircut, I blow dry straight down. No body, less body is better for
02:28this. I can add that at the end.
02:32Hair means everything to me and that's the word of Phoebe Waller-Bridge from Fleabag. She has this
02:38amazing monologue when she goes into the salon with her sister because her sister's hair looks
02:42all weird. It is so true because as an actor I think even before an audition you really do have
02:48to put a lot of time in with hair. I do think it changes like the whole image of how
02:53you look.
02:55Then I'll add textures into it, start tweaking out little corners and playing,
02:59taking weight out of certain spots and then curling irons back into the hair.
03:07My specialty is to make people look hot. It's simple, easy, chic, modern with a little edge.
