00:00The U.S. and Saudi Arabia have signed a landmark agreement to develop a civilian nuclear program in the Gulf
00:06Kingdom.
00:07The U.S. Energy Department says the multi-billion dollar deal will expand American involvement in Saudi Arabia's nuclear energy
00:14sector.
00:15However, U.S. President Donald Trump, in a post on Truth Social, says the deal between the U.S. is
00:21conditional on Riyadh joining the Abraham Accords to normalize relations with Israel.
00:27While the details have not been released, U.S. media reports says it could allow Saudi Arabia to enrich uranium
00:34on its own soil.
00:35That has raised concerns among non-proliferation experts who on the move could bring the kingdom closer to a nuclear
00:41weapons capability.
00:43The deal comes as Washington says its military campaign against Iran is aimed at preventing Tehran from enriching uranium to
00:51weapons grade level.
00:52U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, however, has dismissed those concerns, insisting the agreement with Saudi would not create
00:59a nuclear proliferation risk.
