00:28starts with a fresh shot of
00:29espresso. Bold, rich, pulled just right. Then comes the milk. Steamed smooth, creamy, and balanced. The perfect latte is not
00:44brushed. It is crafted one cup at a time. Your perfect latte is ready. Coffee first, then everything else.
00:55Good afternoon and welcome to Beyond the Headlines. I'm DJ Moises and today's conversation is brought to us by Coffee
01:01First.
01:02Awards make the headlines but behind every standing ovation is a story of sacrifice, rejection, resilience, and hope. Today, we're
01:12looking beyond the trophies to meet the people behind the performances.
01:16Joining us are the stars of award-winning film Pinikas, Sinag Maynila Film Festival Best Actor, Jade Makawili, and Best
01:25Actress, Angela Villarin.
01:27Thank you so much for having us.
01:29Thank you for having us.
01:30It looks like we have an audience now.
01:35So, Jade and Angela, welcome to Beyond the Headlines and congratulations to your win.
01:41Thank you so much.
01:42Welcome.
01:43Anyway.
01:44It's for the Visayah.
01:46Yeah.
01:46So, let's talk about the winning moment first now. So, when you first learned, so this is for both of
01:52you, that you won Best Actress and you won Best Actor. What was inside your mind at that time?
02:00Can I go first?
02:01Can I go first?
02:01Can I go first?
02:02Yeah, I can go first.
02:02Okay.
02:03For me, I was not in that area. Like, I wasn't in the award ceremony. I was in Qatar during
02:08that time. So, I was just watching live, to be honest. And actually, I don't have any expectations. We were
02:14just thankful that Sinag Maynila gave us the opportunity to appeal me.
02:19We're the only Visayah film on that category. So, no expectations for me. So, it was really a total shock
02:25for me.
02:26Because I know the actors and actresses that we're competing with. So, I don't have expectations.
02:31Who were you competing with?
02:33R.C. Munoz.
02:35And some of the legends of the indie film actresses. So, I'm like, no expectation. I was just praying the
02:40night before that. So, I was like, Lord, if you give it to me. Like, things like that.
02:43So, yeah. For me, it's more of like a total shock. Like, I didn't even have anything to say. I'm
02:49like, wow. I'm just so grateful.
02:50You did not even go home.
02:51I didn't even go home. I wanted to go home, to be honest. But because of everything. Yeah.
02:56R.C. Munoz.
02:57And then, what about you, Jade?
02:58R.C. Munoz. Same here.
02:59R.C. Munoz. Wala pod ge-expect.
03:01R.C. Munoz.
03:02R.C. Munoz.

03:27R.C. Munoz.
03:29R.C. Munoz.
03:31R.C. Munoz.
03:34R.C. Munoz.
03:36i did not expect oh yeah uh and then one actually wala
03:42mm-hmm so tell us more about what the film is about so any of you or both of you
03:56can answer
03:57the question uh angela can answer that since it's the life story of maya which she
04:06is portraying the role of maya so basically the story revolves around becoming of a woman
04:10so it's about the story of maya how she navigates her life through making decisions like typical
04:17poor filipina like struggling filipina uh so it's basically rediscovering herself but at the same
04:23time understanding uh there are a lot of like hard choices to make and how like a story that revolve
04:30around how is she going to make those choices and how will it affect her life so natural choices
04:35between her family her dreams her love so that's the struggle of this that's how the story revolves
04:41around like maya's life what about uh you jade no were you the dream the family or the love the
04:49love
04:50okay okay so that's about your character
04:54and the family
04:58okay continue continue okay
05:07okay so this is the triangle a family the dream or the family just kidding
05:14it's a different dream it's a different dream it's a personal dream it's a personal dream okay
05:18continue going back to you jade so yeah i just want people to watch soon in cinemas here in cebu
05:38okay so now the film as you've mentioned is also a representation of visayas and even mindanao
05:46so how important is it for both of you to tell this story from that perspective now
05:57i think for me uh given that the film itself is written directed and all the people behind the
06:04camera most of them are from visayas and mindanao yeah all of them okay all of them shout out and
06:10even the actors as well i think as a cebuano visayas and people from mindanao as well it's really a
06:17big thing for us because we don't really get to be recognized that much and we have a lot of
06:21great
06:21talents in visayas and mindanao and being able to have this recognition is such a eye-opening for
06:27the people even in luzon that there are talents in visayas and mindanao and we want to cater that and
06:32we want to show them that we're also capable of producing a film that actually make people seen
06:38and a lot of people who saw it like really told us they felt seen and they felt like it's
06:43really an
06:43actual thing that happened in real life only as visayas and people in mindanao can tell the story
06:49because this is actually our story it's for everyone and sige you want to say something i think
06:55so thank you so i have a question for you but a similar question eventually for angela also so when
07:04before because now you're nationally recognized now but before the recognition happened who was jade now
07:13before the recognition before the recognition jade is just a ordinary human being a barber a local artist
07:22and yeah and yeah i'm soul-feeding kai yo kay kato nabot mig manila nabot miss a hall of fame
07:31let's just
07:32say nga naka dogman ang award naka atbang mig mga mga banggiitan nilisad wala nagpasabot nga mas
07:41maayaw minila ah honor lang kayo nga naka uban na mo sila sa usaka contest or like film fest
07:48uh jade before is just a ordinary ordinary human being sige so basically because you mentioned
07:54you're a barber and you're also a into music can you articulate more about how these as many
08:01spaces fit into your life as jade and into your life as an actor ah as an act uh as
08:09a musician um
08:11music my god is dihan ako ginabotan ako ang mga feelings mga unsaid words like magmao ko kung
08:19mag na ako i-dream nga gusto na akong maabot and then di na ako ma-express sa o sa
08:25kataw ma or like
08:28ma-express na ako into music ma-express na ako sa kalibutan magbuhat ko kanta about dream magbuhat ko about
08:34love so it's like storytelling and then for the barber space the barber space is though i'm i'm
08:44also passionate about it but yeah dipod na ko siya mabiyan good kay somehow happy ko and feeds my
08:54stomach maybe you can tell them promote promote no the barbershop
08:59aesthetic by jade shout out to my team yan yan migi uh polas uh preach oinin and shark
09:08uh marmar dominic shout out sa inyo her aesthetic by jade nakalocate lan na siya sa siluy
09:13street basak sanicolas cebu city and my search for them sa google maps her aesthetic by jade yeah that's all
09:20sige so now let's move to angela so outside acting what do you do monsaid so currently i am in
09:28international flight attendant so i work in the middle east flight attendant but aside from being
09:33a flight attendant i'm just really a typical daughter i'm a daughter i'm a sister and yeah
09:40and then how is your being an international flight attendant fit into the world of acting yeah i think
09:48to be honest flight attendant just happened like unexpectedly i didn't really want to be there
09:52but it was like a blessing that was given to me an opportunity so i just took the chance
09:58i tried pursuing acting in manila for a year i tried modeling and commercial short films and
10:04everything but of course to be honest if you're not a famous actress if you're starting to build up
10:09it's really hard financially and of course i also have other dreams you know for my family
10:14so when the opportunity came to become a flight attendant i realized okay why not try it because i can
10:19travel the world and i'm still young and i know that i'll be able to go back to acting anytime
10:24i
10:24anytime i want so yeah but it's helpful actually being an actress it was helpful being a flight
10:29attendant because i got the job because of acting i showed them like you know during the interview
10:35process and everything i showed them like no i'm not acting but i was able to compose myself like i
10:42was
10:42able to show them what they're looking for wow yeah the aura of an actual flight attendant yeah so i
10:48think
10:49being an actress is very helpful in a lot of aspect in life yeah and what about you jade because
10:54i've also
10:55did my research you also went to manila no yeah so just like angela so tell us also about the
11:03journey way
11:04back 2018 uh after nag sorry emotional yeah after ako nag graduate senior high since we were the first
11:14batch of senior high grade 11 grade 12 uh nag nag decide you go okay since my family is supporting
11:21me also
11:21what i want to do nag decide kung mawad to manila mo try mo try my mo try sa ako
11:27ang acting career so yeah
11:30nag try ko actually almost ko nadala sa pbb 2018 um batch nila set fedelin
11:36naka-typing ko ato sa sorry emotional na nakat-typing ko ato sa abs 2018
11:42naka-typing ako like for pbb for pbb like naghan ako nasudlan
11:48wow
11:48uh
12:16jiga
12:18Who had the taping?
12:19Yep, 100.
12:22Continue, and then?
12:24And yeah, aside from that,
12:26I was hoping to get a hope here
12:28when they came to Manila.
12:29I got the opportunity to get a finalist in Bulacan.
12:31Direct Joggin is a big deal.
12:36And...
12:38Yeah, maybe it'll be a long time.
12:40Okay.
12:40What happened?
12:45What happened?
12:46I got the casting call for commercials.
12:49But what happened?
12:50Okay, if you don't mind, what happened?
12:52There was further elimination
12:55after the taping.
12:56So that's the cut, right?
12:58That's the final good.
13:01That's what I saw in PBB.
13:03My friends are here.
13:05Okay, now we'll go back to Angela,
13:07but let's work with this.
13:08But I think you will have an idea already on
13:10what the question will be.
13:11But the question actually is,
13:13how do you...
13:14Because I know that some of our viewers
13:15who are watching
13:16also wants to win big, no?
13:21In the entertainment industry
13:23and they also want to be actors.
13:25But in your case, Jayden,
13:26and we'll go to Angela later,
13:27how do you normally deal with no as an answer?
13:31Because I think that's not an easy pill to swallow.
13:35At first,
13:38I'm not sure.
13:40I mean,
13:41it's a little good to swallow
13:43but in the long run,
13:46it's like, okay,
13:47it's a good life.
13:48It's a good thing.
13:50It's a good thing.
13:51It's a good thing.
13:52It's a good thing.
13:52It's a good thing.
13:53So at least you've tried.
13:56I know.
13:57And what about for you, Angela?
14:00Both of you are winning as an actor
14:02but there was also a time that you went to Manila
14:05to try it out
14:06and had to deal with no's also.
14:08So how do you deal and manage your feelings?
14:11I think what people should know is,
14:14especially in the entertainment industry
14:15or in life in general,
14:17there's more no's than yes's actually.
14:20So I think if you really want to succeed in life,
14:22you just have to keep going
14:24and keep doing what you love to do.
14:26So for me, how I navigate it,
14:28I'm just lucky that I have
14:29a very supportive family with me
14:31and I'm very confident as a woman as well.
14:34I know that if an opportunity doesn't come my way,
14:37it's not for me.
14:38It's meant for someone else
14:39and I want to celebrate other people's success as well.
14:41So for me,
14:42it's like really something not a big deal for me.
14:45It's painful, yes.
14:46I cry about it.
14:47Every time I receive a no,
14:49I self-pity about it
14:51but it's just a one-hour thing, you know,
14:53and then I get back on my feet and just continue.
14:56Yeah.
14:57Because I believe that if it's meant to happen,
15:00it will happen
15:00and I'll be grateful
15:01and I'll be honored to receive it.
15:03And if it's like a no,
15:04if it's a big no,
15:05even if it's a small no,
15:06it's like it's okay.
15:07It's resonant.
15:08Yeah.
15:08No, actually,
15:09it's okay.
15:10At least before I move to the next question,
15:12the reason why it also resonated to me,
15:15because I would agree, no?
15:16In every aspect in life,
15:18we always have to deal with no as an answer.
15:22Even in our family, no,
15:23no is also an answer.
15:25And there's one piece that you actually said,
15:27which I also can relate,
15:29because it's good to acknowledge the emotion.
15:31Okay.
15:32Some people, they just show it, no?
15:33But that's not healthy.
15:35But I also give myself a deadline.
15:37I'll just deal with this for the next two days
15:40or the next three days.
15:42And then after that,
15:42oh my gosh, let's move on.
15:44Yeah.
15:45Yeah.
15:46True, true.
15:47Sige.
15:48So,
15:49now whether it's,
15:51in your case,
15:52whether it's acting or modeling
15:56or even in your career right now,
15:58and the same for you,
15:59Jade, no?
16:00What's your decision-making point, man?
16:04When you would say,
16:05ah, this particular dream is still worth pursuing?
16:08Or this is already time for me to move
16:12towards other dreams?
16:14Okay.
16:15Diba?
16:15Try and try until you succeed.
16:17But sometimes,
16:18there's also a point that
16:20maybe I'll be more successful somewhere else.
16:23So,
16:24what's your line, no?
16:25When you say,
16:26this is still worth pursuing
16:28or time to do something else.
16:31Okay.
16:33So since I'm acting
16:35in music
16:36or in barbering,
16:37and
16:38it's hard to hold on
16:40to my project.
16:42Like,
16:44I was, like,
16:45looking forward to
16:46the project
16:47for six years in the making, man.
16:49So,
16:50six years in the making
16:51and then after shooting,
16:53and then after shooting,
16:54the flight attendant
16:55by Angela,
16:56I focused on barbering
16:57and then
16:58music.
17:01there's,
17:02there's,
17:02there's a part of me nga,
17:04that I have a chance
17:06in the acting world
17:07because,
17:08if I can only do
17:09what I can do,
17:09because I believe
17:10what I can do,
17:11that project.
17:13And, yeah.
17:14Which happened.
17:15Which happened.
17:16Praise God.
17:17And,
17:18and,
17:19the best actor
17:19was,
17:20okay,
17:21thank you,
17:21Lord,
17:22I have a chance
17:23in the industry.
17:26And,
17:26yeah.
17:27I don't know.
17:28I just enjoy my moment.
17:29And,
17:30okay,
17:30I don't know.
17:34And,
17:34how about for you?
17:35I think for me,
17:36I believe that there's a season
17:37for everything.
17:39So,
17:40for me,
17:40it's not more of like a,
17:41yeah,
17:42a question about boundaries
17:43or limitations, right?
17:44When it comes to pursuing a dream.
17:46So, that's what happened
17:47when I pursued
17:47flight attendant.
17:49Because,
17:49I was really on fire
17:50when I was in Manila
17:51doing all the commercials
17:53and short films.
17:54Like,
17:54I was,
17:55I really wanted to be an actress.
17:56And,
17:57there was a time where I felt like,
17:58I was stagnant.
18:00You know,
18:00there were no projects going on.
18:01And, that's when
18:02being a flight attendant happened.
18:04It was introduced to me.
18:05I was offered.
18:06And,
18:06then I applied for it.
18:08So, I think,
18:09I just thought to myself
18:10that maybe,
18:11there's a season for things.
18:14And,
18:14maybe this season is for me
18:15to become a flight attendant.
18:16And, I believe that
18:17if I go there,
18:18I might learn something new.
18:19But, of course,
18:19the passion for being an actress
18:21is always going to be with me.
18:23Because, I really want to become an actress.
18:25So,
18:26yeah.
18:26I know that,
18:27like, I'm a very spiritual person.
18:29So, I really try to connect with the Lord
18:32and ask Him
18:33and ask for advice.
18:34So, it's more of like a connection
18:35and a relationship with God.
18:36Trying to navigate through that.
18:38So,
18:39I just ask for advice.
18:41It's a constant discernment.
18:42Discernment.
18:43Yeah.
18:44So, when,
18:44before Pinikas was aired,
18:46just like Jade,
18:47I really believed in the project.
18:48The first time I read Pinikas itself,
18:51I knew that it's going to be big.
18:52Because, it's really a good story.
18:54Like, it's really,
18:56you can really feel seen in the story.
18:58And, it has a message to it.
19:00So, I know that it's going to be big.
19:01But, it took a lot of time.
19:02Because, of course, nobody knew us.
19:04Nobody wanted to invest in us.
19:05Right?
19:06Because, we're nobodies in that matter.
19:08During that time.
19:09During that time.
19:10I don't know.
19:11But, yeah.
19:11So, I just trusted the Lord.
19:14And, when we won Best Actor and Best Actress,
19:17it was really more of like,
19:19an eye-opening for me.
19:21And, a realization that like,
19:22there's still space for me in the acting world.
19:25I still have a chance to be an actor.
19:27So, yeah.
19:28It's more of like, timing.
19:29Seasons.
19:30And, all of that.
19:31So, if you feel like there are,
19:32there are a lot of like, setbacks.
19:34It might be a time for you to reflect.
19:37And like, you know.
19:39But, not all the time.
19:40It depends on the situation as well.
19:42Because, I don't want people to also give up.
19:44Just because things are hard.
19:45Because, it shouldn't be like that.
19:47But, it's more of like, seasons.
19:48There are seasons in our life where we need to pause.
19:51Or, we need to go and get it.
19:54Yeah.
19:54I would agree.
19:55It's a constant discernment.
19:57Because, there are also moments.
19:58I think for both of you.
19:59Like, Pinikas.
20:00When, Lisod said, you could have been so close to it.
20:04And then, you gave up.
20:05Right?
20:06Sayang.
20:06Which, as we now know.
20:08It was actually worth pursuing.
20:10Yeah.
20:11After all.
20:12In spite of the setbacks that you both faced.
20:15So, how did winning now change the way you look at yourself and your career?
20:22Let's start with you, Jade.
20:25What was your pressure on?
20:27What was your pressure on?
20:28I was not drinking.
20:29I had no drink.
20:30You didn't drink the drinks.
20:30I think, whatever.
20:32Okay.
20:32Okay.
20:33Sige.
20:33Normal.
20:35My feeling is normal.
20:36Hmm.
20:38Like, if I was first to be a problem.
20:40I wasn't the best actor.
20:41You're still in Japan.
20:44And then, just that.
20:46I just want to thank you.
20:47After that, I got a lot of opportunities.
20:50Which is my project in Thailand.
20:54Vertical series.
20:55After that.
20:56When you say vertical series.
20:57What does that mean?
20:57Vertical series.
20:58Like, what you can see.
21:00Real.
21:01Real short.
21:01Like, drama box.
21:02Like that.
21:03So, vertical series.
21:05Korean production.
21:06And I was the only Filipino on that project.
21:10Yeah.
21:11That changes my life, I think.
21:13And this is after you won.
21:16After I won.
21:17And how about for you, Angela?
21:21I think it's the same thing as well.
21:22For me, nothing really changed.
21:24It's more of like, a recognition.
21:27At the same time.
21:28It's just a feeling of like, okay.
21:29My hard work was paid off.
21:30And I'm grateful for that.
21:32But of course, I need to understand that.
21:34That recognition requires a lot of responsibility.
21:37For me.
21:38To keep going.
21:39So.
21:40Yeah.
21:41To keep it short like that.
21:42Yeah.
21:43For me.
21:43Yeah.
21:43Same.
21:43More on.
21:44The only thing that changes actually is the connection.
21:47The connection widen.
21:48A lot of people try to contact us now.
21:50Communicate with us.
21:51But of course, because of my schedule.
21:52A lot of people try to get me in certain projects.
21:55But because of the circumstances I'm in right now.
21:58There's a lot of things that now I don't.
22:00I can't commit as well.
22:02But I'm trying.
22:03I'm trying to find my leaves.
22:06To find time for shooting.
22:08Yeah.
22:09And then now let's also move closer towards realities now.
22:13Because receiving no is part of show business now.
22:18The other thing also is about what are the aspects about the industry man said.
22:23That you wish.
22:24If viewers are watching and they wish to pursue this route.
22:29What are certain aspects of the industry also that not many outsiders like me know that they should be aware
22:38before they get into show business.
22:42I think for me, I just want to say that if you really want to pursue the entertainment industry in
22:49general.
22:49It requires a lot of patience, hard work, dedication, sleepless nights.
22:55And yeah, I think it's the same as all the other jobs out there.
22:59It's a hard job.
23:01But of course, this one is more very public, right?
23:04So it's very hard.
23:06But I think if you really want to pursue it, it should come from the inside.
23:10You should have a passion for it.
23:11Because if you don't have a passion for it, you just want to be famous.
23:13You just want to have the money.
23:15I'm going to tell you, it will drain you.
23:17Because it's not enough to satisfy you.
23:19It should be from your heart if you really want it.
23:22Just like for me, when I started acting, I thought, I didn't even know that you can earn from acting.
23:26I just love acting.
23:27Because ever since I was a child, I just like to act, you know?
23:29I'm just OA like that.
23:31So yeah, I think just make sure that deep down in yourself, you really, really, really want it.
23:38Because it's really a hard game.
23:40A lot of competitions, not towards other people but to yourself.
23:44Because a lot of projects and there will be a lot of no's.
23:46So they just have to be really strong and really find it in their heart that they really want to
23:51do this.
23:51So that if things doesn't go their way, it will not be so painful for them.
23:58So yeah.
23:58How about for you, Jay?
24:00If you want to pursue a career path, as cliche as they say, just enjoy the journey.
24:12It's not about the journey.
24:13It's about, I mean, ah sorry.
24:15It's not about the goal.
24:16It's about the journey.
24:17Just enjoy the process.
24:20Because...
24:21Yeah.
24:21Because if...
24:24Same with you.
24:24There's no one expected of your life.
24:28You're only going to enjoy it every step.
24:32Every...
24:32Stair step.な...な...な...な...
24:37Enjoy this
24:38journey.
24:39Sorry.
24:43how important and don't compare yourself to others just focus on your path that's all
24:49articulate more on that though because in in such an industry a comparison sometimes is inevitable
24:57okay okay mom
24:58kui kong mag think magkuh ka I mean mag compare kass and mong self a other like
25:05kong say mo career and then mag ah may pasikuan kini dao naginani
25:09no don't compare your day 1 to day 100 of other or like just like that
25:14and dili ta parihag agianan though parihat nagpadulngan but dili ta parihag agianan tanan
25:20so ang ginu naigi hatag sa imu nga dricka magagig ikaw dricka magagig ikaw
25:25If you don't want to be angry, don't you want to be angry?
25:29That's a good point about looking at it as a path.
25:33Now, for Cebuanos, for example, or people from Visayas and Mindanao,
25:37and they wish to also pursue acting.
25:39Do you recommend that they always go the Manila route?
25:43Or is that something that's possible also that they just stay in Cebu or in Mindanao
25:49and still be able to find their way through entertainment industry?
25:59If you're in Cebu or in Mindanao or in Manila and then you want to pursue it,
26:03you're still able to do it.
26:06But...
26:06There are some suggested things that they need to do if they stay.
26:11I've used consistency.
26:14And yeah, if you don't want to go to Cebu,
26:18you don't want to go to the project immediately.
26:22If you want to go to the project, you do a passion project.
26:26You don't want to go to TF, go to the project.
26:29Collaboration team.
26:30Collaboration works.
26:32And...
26:34There are a lot of things that they've been in Manila.
26:36We're here in the show business.
26:40So yeah, Motto, you can still be able to do it here in our place, not in Manila.
26:46And there are a lot of things that you've been here in Manila.
26:50What?
26:51I think for me, it's like...
26:54It's gonna be a different journey.
26:55If you're gonna start in Cebu or Visayas and Mindanao for example,
27:00it's gonna take a while compared to Manila, to be honest.
27:03That's the sad reality if you're in the film industry.
27:06Because Visayas and Mindanao, we're still up and coming.
27:09And that's something I really want to dream about.
27:12I'm dreaming that Mindanao and Visayas can produce a film that actually people would watch.
27:16Like Filipinos and internationally.
27:19Because I really believe we have what it takes to do it.
27:22But the reality is, it's not really that easy.
27:26So if you really want to reach a certain kind of growth or success,
27:32then yes, you have to go to Manila.
27:34Really, that's the truth.
27:35Because here, less opportunities for actors to do.
27:39Unless you have connections, you know someone, or you're really presenting yourself out there.
27:44But in reality, if you really...
27:46That's a sad reality.
27:47But yeah, you really have to go to Manila.
27:49But still, it's still gonna be a hard game there.
27:51You have to always present yourself.
27:53Like when I was in Manila, I'm auditioning hundreds every day.
27:56And I'm receiving no's almost every day.
27:58Yeah, because I have to submit all the auditions, VTR and all of that.
28:02Yeah, because nobody knows you.
28:04And especially if you're from Visayas, Mindanao, it's like a hard game.
28:08So that's why I think also I want people to understand that in the entertainment industry,
28:14people see only the good side.
28:15They only see the awards or the red carpets.
28:19The day 100.
28:19But in reality, those are just the gist of it.
28:22The real work is actually in the process.
28:25What Jade said.
28:26That's where it all boils down to having that success.
28:31So...
28:31How important is it to have a manager?
28:35Very important, to be honest.
28:37I think.
28:38But we don't have managers.
28:41You can articulate more on that.
28:44Yeah, I think.
28:45When I was in Manila, that's when I realized, wow, managers would get you to places and doors and opportunities
28:51that you don't even know exist.
28:53Because they have connections.
28:54They know people.
28:55And when I was there, I don't even have a manager.
28:57I was doing commercials like Gcash, Dunkin Donuts, and all of that.
29:00I don't have a manager.
29:01But I know people because of certain works that I do.
29:04So, yeah.
29:05Connection, again, is very important.
29:06Because every time I work with someone, they connect me with people.
29:10But since I don't have a manager, it's slower for me.
29:14It's more of really hard work.
29:15But I saw people like my friends who have managers who are now part of GMA, for example.
29:20Because they can connect them to those places.
29:23So, it's very important.
29:24But I don't even know how to.
29:25Sige, so now this one is for Jade.
29:28So, if, for example, somebody from Visayas or Mindanao or from Cebu, and then they want to connect to a
29:35manager, what are the steps, man said, that they need to take?
29:39So, this is for our viewers, no?
29:41The best actor or best actress.
29:44I don't know if I can really tell about it.
29:47Okay, what's the manager?
29:49Self-manage?
29:51Whatever.
29:53Whatever.
29:53Okay, right?
29:54If it makes sense.
29:56Okay, right?
29:57Whatever.
29:59If you're a manager or a manager,
30:00if you're a manager,
30:02you do this, you do that.
30:05Like, you're in the box.
30:08If you're independent,
30:09you can do this in your own.
30:11You can do that in your own.
30:12You have the freedom.
30:14And these steps may be to be a manager.
30:20Do a lot of projects for them to discover you.
30:23So, is that something that you also need to audition?
30:27Build yourself at first.
30:29Portfolio.
30:30Portfolio.
30:30To get noticed.
30:31Yeah, to get noticed.
30:32And until...
30:35Sometimes they just message you.
30:37Ah.
30:38Okay, sige.
30:39And then, last lang on this area.
30:42What would be the steps man said?
30:44Like for example, somebody who just finished college,
30:47who's watching.
30:48Okay, bago para ba ang graduation season?
30:50Or somebody who just finished senior high, no?
30:53Who are watching.
30:54And then they wish to explore this side.
30:58This is for both of you.
30:59Once I suggest ninyo nga steps for them.
31:04Once I suggest nga steps.
31:07One get sila karang nag like this.
31:09Like nanon out get sila.
31:10Once I step anino.
31:11Step one.
31:11Kung gusto sa mong gusto sa acting.
31:13Yes.
31:15Audition good number one.
31:17Maawalang good na kay...
31:18Sama, walang may naka-advise ng mong good.
31:20And once I buhatun.
31:21Once I step nga nung naabot may diri.
31:24Kuan,
31:25Siguro since maka-advise me.
31:28Audition and then...
31:31Do your best sa audition and...
31:33Be good people.
31:36Like...
31:36Be kind.
31:38Treat people with kindness kay...
31:40In this...
31:41Industry.
31:44Not just being good actor or being good actress.
31:48It should have to be a good person.
31:52Like...
31:52Good human being.
31:54Kay...
31:54Bay, di ka makakuhaag project bay.
31:56Kung maayo lang ka.
31:58Bisagun sa pakamayo.
31:59Basta bullshit.
31:59I mean, sorry.
32:01Basta...
32:02BS.
32:04Basta...
32:05Kuan...
32:06Less manners ka.
32:08Maka gig ka.
32:09Maka kapadulangan.
32:11Just...
32:11Be good.
32:13Siguro.
32:14I think for me...
32:16Like practical step that I actually did.
32:18I went to Facebook and like audition in Manila.
32:21Like when I was in Manila, like audition.
32:22And then I joined a group.
32:24Like there's a lot of group of auditioning.
32:26Yeah.
32:26So first, maybe you can find on Facebook.
32:28That's where I found it.
32:30Like audition.
32:31Things like that.
32:32And once you audition, that's what...
32:33Where like character comes in.
32:35That's what Jade said.
32:36That it's really important to have like good character.
32:39Like good work ethics as well.
32:40Because...
32:41Once you start...
32:42For example, one project.
32:43That one project can lead you to a different project.
32:45Because of...
32:46How you work.
32:47So I think that's one thing.
32:49And then...
32:50Yeah.
32:50Maybe hard work is very important as well.
32:52Because you need to really...
32:53Be...
32:54Attentive.
32:55And submit, submit, submit.
32:56Almost everyday.
32:58Yeah.
32:59I think that's one of the advice I can give them.
33:01And then just continue it.
33:02And character.
33:03Yeah.
33:03And Quan said.
33:04I'm glad you're doing a project.
33:09Do your best.
33:10I don't want to do a lot of it.
33:11I don't want to do a lot of it.
33:13To try and get a little bit.
33:16Because I'm trying to do the project and see what I'm doing.
33:18Don't you worry about your own father,
33:20Maybe you might be able to see this.
33:23And then you see him who's 필요 to get.
33:26So, I think that's the door.
33:28For the next one.
33:29Yeah.
33:29Never close doors.
33:30so now let's go back to the winning moment
33:35so the moment after you
33:37after you delivered your acceptance speech
33:40and in your case
33:42after you learned
33:43that you won
33:45who was the first person
33:47you talked to
33:50like after
33:52listen to me
33:54before
33:54before
34:02like me share
34:03family my family
34:06and what did you tell them

34:44and when i heard that i won
34:46actually it was like
34:47it was like a slow-mo moment
34:50actually
34:50i was like having goosebumps and everything
34:52and i was just like panicking
34:53like really
34:54i think like it's better
34:55to be honest
34:57i was panicking
34:57i was shaking
34:58i was like
34:58i don't know
34:59and then my family
35:00they were shouting as well
35:01so yeah
35:02actually it's more of like
35:03a speechless moment
35:04i really don't know
35:05what to say
35:05because i really didn't expect
35:07to win at all
35:08i was just happy
35:09that we were part of it
35:10to be honest
35:11so yeah
35:12i just
35:12they just congratulated me
35:14they were crying

35:26he's the one who
35:29received the award for me
35:30so
35:31he gave me a little
35:32like happiness
35:33because he was making jokes
35:34and all of that
35:35so after all the
35:36trauma
35:37not trauma
35:38but i mean like
35:38the shaking and everything
35:41so for both of you

36:09in a way that

36:49so
36:50once

37:45understand
37:46that

37:48of people
37:49are struggling
37:50to make
37:50decisions
37:51i
37:51the gist
37:52of the
37:52film
37:52is about
37:53family
37:53love
37:54dreams
37:54and all
37:55of that
37:55but in
37:55reality
37:56the film
37:56also
37:57tackles
37:57about
37:57poverty
37:58and how
37:59hard
37:59it is
38:00to
38:00have a
38:01difficult
38:01life
38:02and
38:02yes
38:03people
38:03might
38:03say
38:04that
38:05oh
38:05you
38:05have
38:06to
38:06choose
38:06your

38:06you
38:07have
38:07to
38:07choose
38:07certain
38:07things
38:08but in
38:08reality
38:09if you
38:09have
38:09the
38:09advantage
38:10if you

38:13to
38:13choose
38:13between
38:14family
38:14and

38:16what
38:16privileged
38:17people
38:18have
38:19where
38:19maya
38:20for example
38:21on the
38:21other hand
38:21she doesn't
38:22really have
38:22a choice
38:23she needs
38:24to make
38:24a decision
38:24because
38:25she's
38:25struggling
38:25so i
38:27hope

38:27people
38:34go
38:35through
38:35on a
38:36day-to-day
38:36basis
38:37and that
38:37it shouldn't

38:39in reality
38:40we have
38:40a lot
38:40of those

38:48hopefully
38:48it would
38:49be
38:49more of
38:50a
38:50motivation
38:51that
