00:07I'm really excited by the fact that we rejected the last offer, so they didn't really improve
00:16it that much, just kind of said we'll put your cash at the start instead of the end,
00:22and I think tried to suck a few people in that way.
00:25I feel there was a bit of backlash about the way the government kind of was a bit sneaky
00:30and contacted members directly instead of going through the union, so there were definitely
00:35some underhand tactics from the government in that sense.
00:39And for people that aren't impressed with the issue today, why did you guys reject the proposal?
00:46It doesn't go far enough to address workload issues, and I think what people need to understand
00:53is it's no longer actually about money, especially here on the border.
00:58If it was about money, most of us would just go across the border and work in New South Wales,
01:03where they are paid substantially more, but it's basically to do with workload.
01:09So, you know, you hear a lot about teachers get 12 weeks holiday a year and all of this
01:14other stuff, but I honestly don't know anybody that actually gets a break during the holidays.
01:19I, for example, do the timetable at my school. We had a staff member resign on the last day of
01:25term,
01:26so the majority of my holidays were spent making sure we had a workable timetable
01:30for when the kids came back last week.
01:33And as a regional teacher, would you say that impacts your workload?
01:39Yeah, definitely. Especially because sort of here regionally we don't have access as easily to as many resources
01:48and opportunities for our students, so we have to work a little bit harder and a little bit longer
01:53to make sure they're getting the same, I guess, opportunities that you would get in the city.
