00:00You should be shameful. You don't know basic facts. You should resign. You don't even care
00:05about the number of U.S. troops that were wounded. American service members are in the Middle East
00:10risking their lives in the war with Iran. How many U.S. troops have been wounded in the Iran war?
00:18My understanding from the Defense Department's latest numbers is over 100, but about 70 percent
00:24or 90 percent of those have immediately returned to duty. Okay. That number is wrong. According to
00:33Defense Calgary Analysis System, 482 American troops have been wounded. Now, it's not surprising to me
00:41that you did not know their answer to that. The reason you are here today and in your position
00:46is because you were fired by the president from your former position as national security advisor.
00:52You disclose classified information that harmed American pilots and put them at risk.
01:01About me. That's your spin, I guess, for your next campaign commercial. I don't know.
01:06How many American troops have been killed in the Iran war? In these ongoing operations, 18. Okay. Now,
01:15President Trump has repeatedly stated that Iran's military was obliterated. On March 16th, President
01:22Trump stated that Iran's military was, quote, literally obliterated, end quote. How is it possible
01:31that 482 American troops have been wounded and 18 service members killed
01:39by a Iranian military that's been purportedly obliterated?
01:45The Iranian Navy, Air Force, Air Defense system and industrial capacity have been massively damaged,
01:53if not completely ineffective. But this is a state that is trying to reconstitute. This is a state,
01:59a regime that is obsessed with a nuclear weapon. And it's a regime that still maintains some missile and
02:05drone capability that it's firing on all of its neighbors, including our bases.
02:10I think that's a pretty common sense evaluation. But if I need to explain it to you further, I can.
02:17You need to explain to American people how an Iranian military that's been purportedly obliterated,
02:24killed 18-year service members and wounded 482 service members.
02:28Seven of those service members died in a plane crash.
02:31Let me finish my question. And has struck multiple U.S. facilities in the Middle East repeatedly.
02:39So I'm going to show you a video from Jordan. And this is an Iranian strike. And if we could
02:47play the video,
02:47that will be great. Thank you. I would hope the Republican-controlled foreign affairs committee would
03:08know how to use audio next time. But we did see the video. And it showed multiple missiles hitting
03:15this base in Jordan. Let me tell you what happened. It was disclosed later that two U.S. troops died
03:24in that strike from a purportedly obliterated Iranian military. And this is what Donald Trump said.
03:32He said that the Iranians, quote, did slip something through in Jordan. And if we had other operators,
03:38it would not have happened. He then went on to say, when you let other people do your job,
03:43with the United States, we let other people do a job. And sometimes it doesn't work out so well.
03:48So let me ask you this question. Do we still have American troops stationed in Jordan right now?
03:54It doesn't surprise me that you're referring to Al Jazeera in terms of your video.
04:03I'm here as the U.N. ambassador, but I'm happy to refer you to Pete Hegseth,
04:08Secretary Hegseth's testimony yesterday. And your opening statement,
04:13you bragged about doing a Security Council resolution on Iran. So yes, Iran is in your job
04:20responsibility. Focus on it and focus on the troops that have been wounded and killed. Do not be so
04:25callous with the safety and lies of American troops. I'm going to ask you again, are U.S. troops
04:31currently stationed? Are U.S. troops currently stationed in Jordan? Are U.S. troops currently
04:37stationed in Jordan? Try to get reelected. I will. You should try. November is coming
04:44for you and this administration. Are U.S. troops stationed in Jordan? It's not even a trick question.
04:49Are they? Of course they are. Okay. And if Donald Trump doesn't trust the Jordanians to protect
04:55U.S. troops? Do you trust them? Who are we going to have to protect U.S. troops? They are
05:00exposed
05:01right now in the Middle East. Repeatedly being exposed to Iranian missiles and missile strikes
05:07and drones. You don't even know how many U.S. troops were wounded in this Iran war. Shame on you
05:12for not
05:12even know basic facts. You are the U.S. ambassador and you don't even know how many U.S. troops
05:19were
05:19wounded in Iran war. You got that wrong. You should be shameful. You don't know basic facts. You should
05:25resign. You don't even care about the number of U.S. troops that were wounded. You did not know
05:30how many U.S. troops were wounded. You gave false information to Congress. You should be ashamed of
05:36yourself for not even knowing how many U.S. troops were wounded in the Iranian war. The gentleman's
05:41words should be taken down. You should not use such derogatory language for the distinguished ambassador.
05:48Seriously, I know you're upset. Nothing in the last administration. Zero. Politics and the worst of
05:56it. He lied to Congress. He gave a flat-out false number minimizing the number of U.S. troops wounded
06:03in Iran. That's what he did in his first answer to my question. It should be recognized that the
06:08ambassador is a 27-year veteran in the military. Thank you. Mr. Smith.
