00:17Thames Water have blamed the ban on a combination of prolonged dry weather and heat waves,
00:22higher than normal demand for water and a lack of forecasted rain.
00:25In fact, not a drop of rain is expected in the capital until the end of July.

00:32The ban affects every customer whose water is supplied by the company,
00:36around 10 million people in London and the southeast,
00:39strictly restricting the use of hosepipes, sprinklers and pressure washers.
00:42However, you can still use watering cans, buckets and water butts.
00:46They also suggest using the water left over from cooking or rinsing fruit and veg to water your plants.
00:52The ban will stay in place for as long as deemed necessary
00:55until conditions improve.
