00:17the network and restored water supply to the wider area. The spokesperson added that they were then
00:23carrying out further work to gradually return supply to the remaining customers and would then
00:28access the damaged pipe to plan the necessary repairs. The water firm said that some customers
00:34in the N1, N7, WC1X and EC1R postcodes might still experience low pressure or intermittent supply
00:42while work was underway. On 24 February, residents were being urged to avoid the area and a respite
00:48centre for affected residents had been set up at Islington Tennis Centre. Una O'Halloran,
00:53leader of Islington Council, said that her heart went out to those who lived and worked in the
00:59area. She said that local people simply should not have to face that level of disruption,
01:04that the council was doing all it could to resolve the situation and that it was calling on Thames
01:09Water to manage the situation and to help get residents and businesses back into their properties
01:15as quickly as is possible. The London Fire Brigade said that two of its specialist fire and rescue units,
01:22equipped with inflatable boats, pumping equipment and flood kits, responded to the flooding.
