00:00All right, it's Tuesday, 3.20-ish, 3.25-ish, so let's get a little real or fake.
00:10I say a statement, you let me know if it's real or fake, 713-572-4610.
00:15You can text in YouTube and Twitch, you can jump in as well.
00:18Real or fake? Let's start with you, Tyler Milner.
00:21Real or fake?
00:22This is the year that the SEC gets back to being the best conference in college football.
00:32Three straight years by three different universities as the Big Ten won the national championship.
00:38Michigan, Ohio State, and Indiana have won the last three straight championships.
00:47They've had multiple teams in the college football playoff.
00:51This is the year the SEC gets back to being the best football conference in America, real or fake?
00:58Yeah, right now in college football, it's basically the Big Ten, the SEC, and then everybody else slower down on
01:03the totem pole.
01:04So they're one of two in the running, very possible.
01:07I'm going to say real.
01:08I think somebody gets it done as far as putting a nail in the coffin and making it happen,
01:13whether it's Georgia, LSU, Texas A&M, one of these powerhouses out of the SEC can make it happen.
01:20And all together, I'm going to say it's very real.
01:22I think they overtake Big Ten and take that top spot.
01:25We'll see.
01:28Yeah, the Big Ten has been really top-heavy, but they've also had some other teams that have gotten better
01:33towards the middle there, too.
01:35Clint, for you, real or fake?
01:37This is the year the SEC gets back to being the best football conference in America, real or fake?
01:42Well, I'm going to say fake because they never lost it.
01:46I mean, yes, yes.
01:47I kind of wanted to say something like that.
01:48Look, you can point to theirs.
01:50Very true.
01:51Oh, gosh.
01:52Michigan had a little run and won a championship and then fell completely off their coach.
01:56I mean, lost their coach.
01:57They lost a couple of coaches, actually, since then, including the national championship one.
02:02And Ohio State had a nice year, and Indiana's come out of nowhere.
02:06They've been the one team that's capitalized on NIL.
02:09And, you know, they've done a lot of good.
02:11But I still believe that when you look at the final rankings or you look at the college football playoffs,
02:18the SEC had more teams in the top rankings, had more teams in the playoffs.
02:23And we are talking about a conference.
02:24We're not talking about a championship.
02:25We're talking about an overall conference.
02:27I don't know how you gather the Big Ten was better,
02:32given that they didn't have as many teams in the tournament to start with.
02:36So, yeah, I don't think they've ever lost it.
02:38So, I'm going to go with fake.
02:40They've always been the best conference.
02:41They still are right now, and they will be for the foreseeable future.
02:46Once again, by the way, I think is what I read.
02:47Don't quote me on this, but I know it's close to being accurate.
02:5013 of 15 most difficult schedules in America, all SEC schools.
02:55Like that stat.
02:55I don't know.
02:57Old Dolly Parton.
02:58Yeah, I'm a fake, not the fake that you're saying.
03:02I think the Big Ten still may hold on to it.
03:05Oh, I just meant they were top-heavy.
03:06Yeah, they are top-heavy, but I don't know.
03:10When they started to move in the top of the Pac-10 or Pac-12, whatever they were then,
03:16and you started adding Oregon, and you started adding –
03:19and really, USC has become more of the middle as opposed to where they were for years out west.
03:27I do think it.
03:28I mean, head-to-head, they have had – the Big Ten has had the better record head-to-head
03:33over the last couple of years with the SEC when they've played,
03:36and three straight national titles.
03:39I could get with the thought of the back half of the SEC is stronger, but I'm not really thinking
03:47of it from that angle.
03:49Like, it used to be not only top-the-bottom, but top-heavy, boy, as you would say, like LSU,
03:55Georgia, and Alabama, and, you know, A&M, and Tennessee.
04:00Like, it was strong.
04:01Now, the Big Ten with Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State, and Oregon, and now, as you said, Indiana, which
04:12I just can't –
04:13it has taken a while for me to be able to express that.
04:18So, I'm going to say fake.
04:20I think Ohio State has got a hell of a team and probably are the favorites to win the championship.
04:26So, I'll say fake.
04:27All right, real or fake, Clint?
04:29British Brooks dropping 17 pounds is a mistake, going from 225 to 208.
04:36Real or fake?
04:37Well, I think it's fake.
04:40Wait, wait.
04:40British Brooks dropping 17 pounds.
04:41No, I think it's real.
04:44It's a mistake, yes.
04:46I think it's a mistake.
04:47I think British Brooks is a player that where he fits, he needs to be unique, whether it be in
04:56his build or his skill set, right?
05:02And I think him being that kind of a hybrid fullback, which is a bigger-bodied tailback, I think that
05:08benefited him on special teams
05:10as well as the role that he could feel on an offense of being just flat out a bigger back.
05:17And so, I think him slimming down and fitting more in the true tailback role, I don't know that that
05:26bodes well for him.
05:28I understand what he's trying to do.
05:29I understand he's trying to be the best tailback that he could be.
05:31I don't know that that extra 17 pounds isn't going to hurt him when it comes to special teams.
05:37We've seen him make some monster hits on special teams.
05:41And 17 pounds is a lot of weight to give up when you are – most of the time, you're
05:47the hammer, not the nail on special teams.
05:50And 17 pounds is a lot of weight to give up if you are trying to slide in as a
05:55short yardage goal line back or a fullback in a system.
05:59So, I think it's real that that is a mistake by British Brooks.
06:05I think it's real, too.
06:06And I feel like his best opportunity to get on the field was probably whenever they went to a fullback
06:13role.
06:14To me, we saw him as a lead blocker in many, many occasions.
06:18I forget what game that was.
06:20He almost took out somebody.
06:22It was a 49er game where he took out somebody right in the hole and led to a huge Woody
06:26Marks run.
06:26And I wonder, under 210, Clint, how much – you know, how different he is at the point of attack
06:33without having that extra weight there to go along with your point of special teams.
06:39You know, we'll see.
06:41Maybe he has been kind of – maybe hinted towards being the third back.
06:46I don't know.
06:47Gerard Jordan is there.
06:48But it feels like David Montgomery and Woody are going to get a lot of the carries.
06:52And his way to be on the field is at the fullback role.
06:57I thought, boy, man, really, really work on pass catching and doing those things as opposed to dropping that kind
07:04of weight to gain more speed.
07:05Well, I think this probably ran across the special teams coach's desk before anybody else's.
07:10So, I mean, while I look at it and go 17 pounds is a lot to give up on special
07:15teams, you know, the special teams coach may be looking at it and going,
07:18well, a little bit more speed is more important than that weight, and we want you to thin down.
07:22And, by the way, that's going to bode well for you at the running back position if you want to
07:25be a true tailback.
07:26I would imagine that this conversation around British Brooks started with Coach Ross.
07:30Yeah.
07:32That's what makes sense to me.
07:34So, maybe it does work out well on special teams for other reasons.
07:37But 17 pounds is a lot of weight.
07:39It's a big move for him.
07:41Yeah, 225 to 208, that's a big move.
