00:06The men's league is in its third season and has grown to include four teams.

00:21Others are chasing bigger dreams. Longtime netballer Daniel Statton represents Queensland.
00:27Now he's scored a spot on the national men's team squad.
00:32Yeah, feeling pretty privileged with it.
00:35But again, I'm just still hungry for more.
00:38There's still more to achieve in netball and I'm just wanting to get after it.
00:41He's moved from Cairns to Geelong for university and for men's netball, which is more established there.
00:48They can play every week and train pretty much every week with a high level of competition.
00:54Men's netball is growing here in Cairns.
00:56But it's in a league of its own as one of just a handful of male-only competitions in Queensland.
01:03The main obstruction? Getting enough players.
01:05I think it's just the stigma around it. Like, men do play netball. It's not a female sport. It's both
01:11male and female sport.
01:12But there are signs that more are donning the bibs.
01:16I'm also a teacher and I do find there's huge participation now amongst boys and high school boys.
01:22I think once you catch that itch of netball, it's hard to give it up.
