00:00uh let's start with blake in wilmington blake three years into josh harris running the burgundy
00:05goal what do you think well i will say you know it's hard not to be impressed you know at
00:15the end
00:15of the um he he house or at the end of the dan snyder era it was hard not to
00:22be sad um but you
00:25know with everything that's going on and the way he's trying it it makes me feel uh a little bit
00:32seen and um i think we got to give him a chance it's only been three years and look how
00:38much he's
00:39done so um i'm i'm excited and i'm i'm excited for the these next couple years moving into rfk
00:46all right i like it man good call phone lines are open 800-636-1067 800-636-1067
00:55i think if you can separate like owning the football team from the football aspect of the
01:01football team by far my favorite decision they've made is fixing the uniforms is is going back to the
01:08traditional uniforms and bringing them forward with the the black ones the the hail razors i think
01:14are dope um i think that what they've tried to do that's been so impressive is to kind of thread
01:20the
01:21needle of embracing the past the really strong history this team has and moving it forward and
01:28i think that's hard to do and they've done a pretty damn good job of it they've done a good
01:33job of it
01:33but i think for me that's that my thing is getting back to dc and trying and you see them
01:41actively
01:42actively trying to build a winner you know before it was about making money you know how much he can
01:49make from it how he can make himself look now they their their goals are to get this thing
01:54how it used to be something that just works smoothly and you can be in in contention all the time
02:03you know i'm saying that's what they're working on and of course like the guy said you got to give
02:07them time and basically it's been two years of them really having control i agree it's three years
02:12that they purchased the team but two years of control and i think we as sports fans we are not
02:19let's say what the word i'm looking for understanding we think if you bought the team you're supposed to
02:26be right where the uh the the the seahawks are and what the chiefs did forever there's a building
02:34point of this thing and you can see them doing the right things totally they do the stuff needed
02:38to try and build this foundation like i've always said you gotta have a foundation have a nucleus to
02:44where things can be successful for a long time instead of just going at it every blue moon agree
02:49yeah i think from a you're correct in that i don't know when i can say the rfk move is
02:57the best move
02:57they've made but that will be like what 2030 when there's a game played in there that'll certainly be
03:03it maybe it already is the other person couldn't even get a meeting or a picture taken there'll be
03:09some guarantees and some people moving it forward so that right there says a lot certainly my favorite
03:14football move from the harris group was i mean literally once they fully took over in 24 their
03:24first football move was a move dan never made they went out and hired a real general manager to run
03:31the
03:32football not not a flunky not a flow like yeah i mean if you look at the years of vinnie
03:41sort of shanahan sort of had control for a period of time then he lost it to bruce i mean
03:49that because
03:49shanahan shanahan basically was blocking out
03:54the owner right just like marty did and that's why they go he got people to be on his side
04:01and
04:01protect him marty shanahan rolled in here if marty shanahan had been able to do what he wanted to do
04:08off the bat things would have changed then but you saw how quick which come rolled right back in
04:14because they did not want to see that he basically told him get the hell out of here let me
04:18handle this
04:18you handle business i'll handle football right i mean it's just remarkable to think basically from
04:242000 to 2023 you can count ron you know ron was an actual football guy that shouldn't have been in
04:32charge of no personnel shouldn't have been but i mean you had between vinnie and bruce i mean legit
04:38two of like the worst technically football people running football operations that nfl organizations have
04:47and the first thing harris does once he's got his arms wrapped around it is go hire
04:54the number two guy from one of the best organizations in football we'll find out if it works i don't
04:59know
04:59it looks like 24 it worked 25 it didn't like maybe the jury's still out on ap i think he's
05:05done a pretty
05:05good job we'll see how it goes yeah but the the move of ownership hiring a general manager was a
05:11sea change
05:11yeah definitely in burgundy coc you need that you need that in professional sports
05:17and in the military a chain of command let's go to don and ashburn don three years of the harris
05:23group
05:23owning this thing yeah and it looks uh beautiful um i mean i think anybody that that doesn't think
05:31that uh it's a great thing is really just trying to nitpick and will never like what uh what's going
05:37on but you know you mentioned that they got the uniforms right and to take that a step further they
05:42embrace the fans a way in a way that we've never really been embraced by uh by snyder and
05:47the going back to the culture of you know what we know is the washington redskins even though i know
05:53we're not called that they went back to those roots and then i think um you know we've heard a
05:58lot
05:58about the alumni and the improvement in the relationship with the alumni which is huge because
06:03when you have some of those ties to the success um you know that we've had uh being being part
06:10of it
06:10it brings fans back as well so i mean i'm so happy and excited man yeah man darryl green
06:16thanks darryl green art monk john riggins santana moss those moves right there i think did more for
06:27this ownership group and the connection with the fans and the bringing alumni back then which
06:32call them did in their whole time here think about that the first three i named for sure i'm under
06:38you're talking about last time art monk was here yeah i don't know but riggo daryl and art those three
06:46people right there when they decided let's let's do these things it should have been done that made a
06:51world of difference let's check out with alex and silver spring alex three years of the new owners
07:00i love it it's a new taste in the air uh new everything i mean uh bmich kind of took
07:07mine which
07:07uh before man we would have never been in the conversation of even uh inch of rfk and for the
07:17for all the new new school with rfk man rfk i'm 51 rfk is you have no idea uh those
07:26bleachers the way
07:26they used to jump um we won dallas that's the manly when he would be when he was fighting his
07:34demons
07:34and he said uh hey look if i die i want i want my ashes to be spread out through
07:39rfk i mean i can go
07:41on and on and on the hogs i mean they but uh these dudes were working part-time jobs and
07:48and uh
07:48they would they build the the uh foundations for these new cats up here now getting these big
07:55checks right around bmich you grab on bmich and jp continue on with it brother i know what you're
08:01talking about but you know what we had uh klaus right here mark klaus he said that they're working
08:07on getting the area a section of the stadium where the stands will move baby i believe they'll do it
08:13because i believe jay this that's you have to do all ears from that section that'd be fun bro i'll
08:20do
08:20it your ears might start flapping dog might fly away uh i've got a couple tweets on it um returning
08:28to
08:28rfk says the party at the bullpen that night felt like a super bowl oh i didn't get to experience
08:34that
08:34well i mean don't worry i did it for you i i know you know i was i was i
08:38put out a little
08:38liquor for my homie somebody said you did the show from the brewery out in ashburn though that day
08:45right i can't remember what we did that day though yeah we did yeah yeah we did somebody sent me
08:49a
08:49picture of stallion you and greg sitting next to you greg drove us that's smart what what what kind of
08:57did you go to the bullpen that night oh i went to the bullpen that night what kind of shape
09:00were you
09:01with i was in awful shape i remember it was a work night too but no one cared like no
09:06one cared
09:07when i went on tmz i it was i do remember that yes it was you went on tmz that
09:14night everybody was
09:16like yo bro how did you straighten up like that i'm like i just when the camera came on i
09:21spoke and
09:22then i got off and i went back to do what i was doing jeff what'd you get into that
09:26night bullpen was
09:27going man who was that burgundy and soul i was there until i wasn't because i was lit all i
09:36remember from burgundy so i remember talking to some people it's after we took the shot all on the
09:42stage yeah you guys were yeah yeah people were sending me pictures after that my my night was
09:48just a blur i believe that so i had to work it was fun though man like i i was
09:54working you out
09:54of town still you hadn't even gotten back i was in minnesota dude yeah and i remember nikki and i
10:00nikki jabal and i were on the same flight home we were the last flight out of minneapolis delta runs
10:06minneapolis i i tend to be a united guy but if you want to get to and from minneapolis it's
10:11going to be
10:11delta um so we were on the last flight out and i hadn't had a drink yet i hadn't had
10:18a moment yet
10:19right i've just been scrambling running through the airport and nikki's like oh i think our gates
10:24down here i was like yeah i'll be there in a minute she's like the plane's leaving soon i was
10:27like i'm
10:28getting a drink and you could have got one of those on the plane jay well i did that too
10:33but i remember i
10:35stopped at this the little and you got one martini i got one martini yeah yeah and that was when
10:40i got to
10:40like finally smile and like realize what had happened i slammed that joint but it but seriously
10:48if you are if you have any connection with this football team when that happened wasn't it kind
10:56of a lift of like angst and and pressure off of you absolutely listen man i'm serious i late on
11:03that
11:03evening you know like when i'm in my own confines i let myself relax and i don't want nobody to
11:08see me in
11:09mind vulnerable moments i did have a little tear i'm like you know cool let's do this finally out
11:15the damn way because i'm gonna be honest with you what i remember coming here in 1990 and what he
11:21had
11:21took that to it was night and day you know i'm saying like when you would go around 90 in
11:30the 90s and
11:31stuff like that you and you say who you played for where you were from people even respected you
11:37around the country around wherever i went around the world and people would be like they recognize
11:41who the hell the team is but then all of a sudden when you tell me you know it just
11:46like give you a
11:47little smirk they start laughing it was it was it was like a right a damn joke and and that
11:53how do
11:54you destroy something like that because i can remember when washington was number two one one and two
12:00as far as the money that was being generated but they wouldn't spend the money like dallas was
12:07but they were still there and then all of a sudden we were spending more money than everybody and still
12:13couldn't get in the top 10 i remember think about that when i started working super bowls and going
12:18to league meetings and like seeing the league in its totality and the conversations i would have with
12:23other media people or nfl people or other executives like from other teams around the country and it was
12:29just like oh washington who knows what's happening there i remember it when it got bad bad we were
12:35down in carolina one year and i knew some of the folks working in that front office and they're like
12:39dude you realize the panthers i mean what's the market size of charlotte it's a great place but it's
12:46significantly small the panthers were going to produce more revenue than the skin and it's like
12:50what is going on here
12:51you
