01:02Well, he seems to be a nice person, and he seems to be wanting to get the country back on
01:08its feet, and that's what we want. And I say give him a chance.
01:31I have just come from Buckingham Palace, where I have accepted His Majesty the King's invitation to form a government.
01:53In doing so, I am acutely conscious that I am the sixth person in the last ten years to walk
02:03up this street.
02:05The seventh Prime Minister since 2016.
02:09I really rate Andy Burnham for what he's done with Manchester. I think he's wicked.
02:13I'm cautiously optimistic. I'm a bit worried.
02:17I believe he's part of the Labour Friends for Israel, which is not awesome, but I don't know. Cautiously optimistic.
02:25Britain needs to show the world that we can regain our stability once again.
02:33And that is our challenge, to make politics work, to make it work better.
02:41I know people at home are fed up with politics. I hear you.
02:46Yes, it does worry about the amount of Prime Ministers we've had, because they all seem to do a little
02:53bit and not carry on with it.
02:56You know, and it makes me think, well, what is all this about? Why do we keep changing these Prime
03:02Ministers?
03:03We will make this moment a circuit breaker for Britain, bringing forward the biggest changes in the last 40 years.
03:14A new political model and a new economic model.
03:21In the 1980s, Britain took some wrong turns.
03:25Political power was centralised. Economic power privatised.
03:32Large parts of the country de-industrialised and they still haven't recovered.
03:38So I want him to succeed and I'd like to see good socialist policies which will help us with the
03:45difficulties we're going through, just not the North or the South, the whole country.
03:49We will take power out of here and carry it into every postcode in the land so that they can
03:56do more.
03:57And in doing more, build a new economy, where we put life's essentials back under stronger public control to make
04:07them affordable to you again.
04:11Re-industrialising Britain, using public procurement to back British industry.
04:18I don't actually know what he's done. He's put no policies forward, what he's going to do.
04:22He says he's going to make everything better, but he hasn't said what he's going to make better.
04:27But another thing is he's said nothing about immigration at all.
04:31Later this year, I will bring forward a new plan for Britain.
04:37A 10-year plan.
04:39Laying out a path from where we are now to where I believe we all want Britain to be.
04:47Wherever we're coming from, whatever party we support.
04:51But I can do something to give people some breathing space now, some help with the cost of living.
05:00And I will set out some of those measures starting tomorrow, including how we pay for them.
05:10We will help more young people into work by changing the education system and giving them more support, more mental
05:19health support.
05:20And we will build more council homes.
05:24That is the fair and sustainable way to bring the welfare bill down.
05:31To meet our fiscal rules and to honour our commitments on defence to our international partners.
05:41I really don't know who he is or what he does.
05:44And we really can't trust these prime ministers.
05:48They say they do things, but actions matter more than words.
05:54Do you know what I mean?
05:54I will soon go through that door behind me and issue my first instruction to end rough sleeping in our
06:04country.
06:22It's about putting the right values and the right standards at the heart of government.
06:29I will put the care of people at the heart of everything I do.
06:38I will give this my all and I ask you all to pull with me.
06:44Let's build a new national sense of unity, of common purpose and positivity.
06:53Let us make this the moment when Britain starts to believe again.
06:59The moment we bring back hope.
07:02Thank you very much, everyone.
