00:01Hi Bowie Inferiors, good to see you. I'm Gabi and this is Zoltan. Welcome to our home,
00:07come inside and take a peek into our paradise. We are on 800 square meters of land in the heart
00:24of Canggu and we are surrounded by a lot of nature. We have a sungai, a river in the back,
00:31we have a water temple, we have a family temple and we have rice fields. When we purchase this land,
00:37we design the house and we work together. I don't like to follow a lot of rules when it comes
00:43to
00:43design, so I think basically we had two guiding principles when it came to designing this home.
00:49We didn't only want to build a house, we wanted to build a home. I think we both like a
00:54space
00:54that has meaning, not only just bricks and walls and windows. Yeah, my favorite feature of the
01:00house is the volume. It is a very big house, yet all this space are very intimate, so this is
01:06probably what I like the most about it. So come on, follow me, let me show you around.
01:18So when I think of the design of the house, I like to think of it as New York City
01:22is having the love
01:23affair with Bali. And when I create a space where we design a house, I always try to make sure
01:28that
01:28we bring something in from our past that brings us memories and keep us grounding. We also like to
01:35create the space for our present, but also make some room for the future. I love visit shopping,
01:41I love flea barn, I always like to bring new pieces that have meaning. So this is the area which
01:47I
01:48consider the heart of the house. And we don't have a typical kitchen island, we have coffee island.
01:56And the reason why we have a coffee island is because my husband is a passionate coffee enthusiast.
02:01So for the coffee island, I use this very rich colored, beautiful, luxurious onyx material. And
02:10although the house is very linear, we have a lot of straight lines and 90 degree angles. I like
02:16this couple of places where I introduce soft edges. And this is one of them. So it's a big two
02:22by one
02:23meter coffee island that is rounded. And it's just luxurious. It feels good. We love gathering around
02:29it. And since I got a little bit of leftover piece from the material, I used it as a floating
02:35shelf on
02:36the wall, where I actually display all my china cups that I gathered over the years. So this is a
02:45dining room.
02:45So I love the fact that we have the high ceiling. I also like to use crown moldings to elevate
02:52the
02:52space. And I love about it that it's airy and has a lot of light coming through. I chose these
02:59translucent
02:59chairs again enough to make it bulky. And when it came to the design of it, my husband came in
03:06the picture
03:07and he chose the fantastic glass floors where there's more light comes through from the swimming pool.
03:14Yeah. So this area is cantilevered over the swimming pool and we wanted to make sure that the swimming pool
03:19will be light and airy. And that's why we decided to make it glass. And on the top of it,
03:24the deepest part
03:26of the pool is just under this corner. So we can just jump in. So follow me. Let me take
03:31you to my
03:31favorite room in the house.
03:40So this is probably my most favorite place in the house. I like to use colors. I'm not shy about
03:47bringing in deeper and darker colors. We have this four meter, very, very comfortable sofa. And again,
03:54I love sourcing materials that are eco-conscious and the sofa is covered in material that is made
04:01out of recycled plastic bottles. So it's very eco-conscious and it's four meters, super comfortable.
04:07I complemented the space with these beautiful rocks from Morocco. So this is the place where I like to
04:14read my books, do some work. And it's also just a fun place to hang out with my boys who
04:18are on the mall.
04:20So living in Bali, we also learned that outdoor living is very important, but
04:24also outdoor, it must be covered. You know, we've been living here for over six years,
04:29and I think this is the area where we really like to be outside. When we designed the house,
04:34we decided to make it as sustainable as possible. So we installed solar panels, and that's basically,
04:41you know, cooling and heating the house. And we are using heat pump technology for the jacuzzi,
04:49as well as for the showers and the bathtubs to make it very energy efficient.
04:54So over here, we are surrounded by a lot of nature. It was a very important thing for us to
05:00preserve
05:00all the large and mature trees that came with the land. So since we don't have a lot of direct
05:07sunshine, we decided to create a dry garden here. And this Toronto round seating area,
05:15bench area with a fire pit. And I just love the material. It's natural, it's curvy. And again,
05:23we have a lot of linear lines, we have a lot of corners. I always like to bring in some
05:28softness
05:29into the space by creating this semi-circle seating area. So we have six bedrooms in the house. And this
05:35is one of the bedrooms that we don't use as a traditional bedroom. This is a very sophisticated
05:40pinpock table. It's actually the size of a professional pinpock table. That is a very versatile
05:47piece. We have this amazing handmade net on it. So our kids come here and play a lot of ping
05:54pong.
05:55But if you remove the beautiful net, you can use it for board games to create or play cards, pulling
06:01out these beautiful benches. And also it's a versatile space. It's a bedroom, but we don't use it as a
06:07bedroom. So this is probably my favorite bathroom in the whole house. In Bali, we do a lot of outdoor
06:12bathrooms. And again, straight lines, but I really, really love softening the space with some curves.
06:20And I use this beautiful dark green handmade tiles all around. So in this curve area, we have the shower,
06:27we have dark vanities that kind of bring a little bit of drama in the space. And we also have
06:32the
06:32toilet. So this is also a bathroom area for this room and also can be used as an outdoor bathroom.
06:38So come with me upstairs. Let me show you around.
06:47Welcome to my office.
06:51So this one is another room in the house, which was created as a bedroom. It has an en suite,
06:56but we have set this up with an office. It has a gorgeous view on a clear day. You can
07:01see all the
07:02way to one tour. And I really like to have a lot of fun with creating the built-ins. And
07:08it has a
07:09concealed door that actually takes you into the en suite shower area. We have this walk-in shower with
07:16a band and this beautiful marble countertop. And again, I used black vanities for the sink and for the
07:23toilet just to bring some more drama in the space. And I also chose brass faucets and accessories just
07:32to bring some warmth into the bathroom.
07:36So this room is the one that's closest to the master suite. And we set it up as a children's
07:42room
07:42instead of a large double bed. We chose to do two single beds. The beds are handmade, made out of
07:49bamboo. It came from Java. I think it's beautiful, all the details on it. And it's set up specifically
07:56for younger children. Again, we have a growing family. Our children are leaving the house. So when
08:02we designed this space, I think what we had in mind is that to create a children's room very close
08:07to the
08:07main bedroom so that parents can actually have that connection with their younger children.
08:13And certainly this is my favorite room in the house. Come follow me.
08:21So this is our master suite. It actually has two main areas. We have a sitting area where we also
08:29have
08:30these bamboo chairs. Like I said before, I really love recycled materials. I use recycled fabric that's
08:37made out of plastic for the headboard and also for the couch in the sitting area. And over here,
08:45we have a French balcony. We reintroduce some of the greenery that surround us. So I really love this
08:50space that we have light coming through throughout the day from both sides. And again, with the accent
08:56pieces, I love to bring some soft colors. And also with the straight lines, I love this mirror. It has
09:02the soft edges. It has the curves. So this is probably one of my favorite places in the house.
09:08So the question, what is behind this door? Is this a coffee shop, a closet, or a master bedroom bathroom?
09:14Let's find out.
09:21So for me, it's a closet. It's really large, based on Bali standards and Bali sizes. I love that I
09:28have
09:29so much space to display my things and my bags and my shoes. I am very OCD. I love to
09:34color coordinate.
09:35So I really, really enjoy that the space is really big.
09:38And there is something for me as well. I have my little coffee shop set up just right here,
09:44since the kitchen is really far away. So on Sunday mornings, this is the best spot to make a coffee
09:49and enjoy in the master bedroom. So in this bathroom, we use double vanities. So we have the dark
09:54black standing water bases, and also use brass fixtures, double shower head, custom-made soaking
10:02bathtub. And what's really fun about this bathroom is that we have this smart Japanese toilet. And I think,
10:09you know, we try to bring so much inspiration from our travels. And I think once you go to Japan,
10:14and you try one of these, there is no turning back.
10:24So Villa Terra Tirta has two buildings. We have the main house, where we have five bedrooms with
10:29ensuite bathrooms under the same roof. The exterior of the house, we decided to choose,
10:35use this beautiful, beautiful handmade terracotta tile. They're actually handmade by one family from
10:41the nearby town Tabernan. And besides the long linear lines, we have a lot of curves and rounded windows
10:48to bring some softness in. So this is our loft style studio building that stands separately from the main
10:56house. It's currently used as a studio loft for our son. We have a sitting area downstairs where they can
11:03watch the replay, play some games. He has a mini kitchen space with the water dispenser and some
11:12mini fridge. He has a bathroom, which has an outdoor bathtub. And also on the top of it, it has
11:19a sleeping
11:20lot.
11:38Thanks Balint Harriers for taking a peek into our paradise. See you next time. Bye guys.
11:50Bye.
