Prosecution on Cayetano's plan to file dissent to subpoena: 'The ruling will stand'

The House of Representatives prosecution panel on July 21, 2026 expresses confidence that the Senate impeachment court's ruling allowing the issuance of subpoenas for the bank records of Vice President Sara Duterte will stand amid a plan by some members of the Senate minority bloc to file a written notice of dissent. Impeachment Prosecutor Chel Diokno and legal spokesman Benjamin Tolosa Jr. issued the statement after Senator-judge Alan Peter Cayetano said he would file a dissent to the impeachment court's decision. Joining Cayetano were Senator-judges Loren Legarda, Imee Marcos and Camille Villar. Diokno, for his part, said that any senator-judge has the right to file a dissent if they disagreed with the impeachment court's ruling.
