00:04Everything that you do, it encompasses education, empowerment, and community.
00:08Would you agree?
00:09That's very, yeah.
00:10With those being the pillars of what you do in your life, what was the first, like, call to it?
00:15Because I feel like this is a calling for you.
00:17So what was that first moment where you were like, no, I think I found it.
00:20I think I found where I want to be.
00:22I think it's chapters, too.
00:23I think it's layered.
00:24Right.
00:25Back when I was in high school, I took a debate class, and it kind of changed what I wanted
00:29my career to be.
00:30In high school, I wanted to become a lawyer based on the Trayvon Martin case that had happened.
00:34Oh, wow.
00:35And so that was, like, the first, I guess, like, seed that was planted.
00:40But then I got to college, and things shifted a little bit.
00:43And then I wanted to buy back.
00:46I grew up right there on Pearton and Cheyenne, and my great-grandparents owned a house there.
00:51We lost the house during the whole tax foreclosure thing.
00:54The house got tore down.
00:56So it was just empty land.
00:58And this was, I want to say, 2018, that I approached the city like, hey, I want to buy
01:04back this property.
01:06And I was going to make it into a community garden.
01:08I started learning about the term nutrition desert, food desert, all those things.
01:12And I felt like it would be a good way to pay homage to my family.
01:15Although the house wasn't there anymore, the land was, and it was owned by the city.
01:19And those plans fell through, and I'll tell that story another day on why those plans fell
01:24through.
01:25I wasn't able to get that, but I think that was probably the first real, right, like you
01:29have power to change the conditions, not only for yourself, but for those who are in community
01:34with you.
01:34And I was going to be with you.
01:35And I was going to be with you.
01:35And you can be with you.
01:36You can be with you.
01:38You
