00:00Quite simply tonight it's just great to be back in the Treasury after nearly 20
00:04years and just a huge honour to be here as Chancellor. I want to first thank my
00:11predecessor our previous Chancellor Rachel Reeves for all the service she's
00:16given this country. She brought financial discipline, she enabled growth and she
00:23will always be remembered as the first woman Chancellor in 700 years. For me
00:29the Prime Minister and I have talked about how we will work in lockstep to
00:34meet the fiscal rules with a buffer against uncertainty and how we'll make
00:38life more affordable for working people right across the UK and I join you just
00:44having come off a call with the Governor of the Bank of England and I've conveyed
00:47this also to him.
