00:00We're losing pubs. Pubs need to know that the cavalry is coming. This is, to me, our heritage.
00:08It's working class culture. Once pubs are gone, they don't come back. So we've just got to signal
00:14what support, when we can. That's why I've made this early announcement. This is a significant
00:19cut to the business rates that pubs and other venues pay. It could make the difference for a
00:25number of venues that are struggling. And it was right to confirm it quickly because,
00:31as I say, so much good happens bringing communities together. And when these places are gone, you
00:37know, they don't come back and we can't afford to lose anymore. And for me, you know, the
00:42pubs that we've got are at the heart of high streets. And I think it's really important
00:47to signal at the start of my time in office that I will be a defender for them. I will
00:54speak up for them and act. It's all about doing, isn't it? You know, I'm doing something
00:59today. It may not be everything that they're looking for, but sometimes the small things
01:04matter as well.
