It is one of the great events on the Australian sporting calendar. Every year, hundreds of people jump on small planes or take a ferry to head to Bathurst island for the Tiwi islands afl grand final. This year, reigning premiers Imalu tigers secured bragging rights for a second year, defeating the ranku eagles 75-TO-50.

00:07Island after the Imalu Tigers secured their back-to-back Premiership flag.
00:12The local football grand final is the largest event on the Tiwi Island's social calendar
00:17and this year was no different, with hundreds flocking here to Wurrameunga to watch Imalu
00:22take on Rancu.
00:23And while Rancu Eagles had the hometown advantage, a sea of black and yellow blanketed the Oval
00:29with many supporters travelling from the nearby island.
00:32Others made the journey from around the country just for the experience, including Prime Minister
00:37Anthony Albanese.
00:38Just minutes into the game Imalu scored the first goal, setting the tone for what was to

00:43As for Rancu Eagles, it was always going to be a David and Goliath battle, with Tigers being
00:49largely undefeated this season.
00:51The fans didn't let that faze them.

01:04Reigning Premier's Imalu took home the cup for a second year in a row, in a 75-50 victory.

01:14It was a tight tussle until the end, with Tapalinga narrowly taking the cup home, winning the game

01:21For the thousands living here on the Tiwi Island, Grand Final Day isn't just a day

01:28It's also a very vital day for the local economy, with local artists throwing their doors open,
01:33hoping that many tourists will buy their works.
