00:04worn by none other than James Bond himself would be going under the hammer.
00:07The sale was held by Christie's in celebration of Bond's 60th anniversary on screen and
00:11fetched over £220,000 for the Omega Seamaster worn by Daniel Craig during the shooting of
00:16No Time To Die.
00:17While Bond was originally a Rolex man due to author Ian Fleming's affinity for the brand,
00:21things changed when Pierce Brosnan took over the role for 1995's GoldenEye.
00:24That film's costume designer, Lindy Hemming, conjured a new take on the 007 timepiece.
00:29She said that she was convinced that Commander Bond, a naval man, a diver and a discreet gentleman
00:33of the world, would wear the Omega Seamaster with blue dial.
00:35So began the Bond and Omega collaboration, with the UK's top spy having worn models from
00:40the Seamaster line ever since.
00:41Naturally this continued into the Daniel Craig Bond era, with the sartorially savvy actor
00:45even having some input into the watch he'd wear for No Time To Die.
00:48Plus, given that, spoiler warning, 3, 2, 1...
00:52No Time To Die ended Daniel Craig's Bond in explosive fashion, the watch is even more
00:57of a collector's item.
00:57That helps to explain why the watch far exceeded its estimated value of between 15,000 and 20,000
01:02pounds sterling, reaching an astronomical final price of 226,800 pounds, or about 466,000 Australian
01:10dollars.
