00:02President Trump's longtime teleprompter operator is under investigation by the Commodity Futures
00:07Trading Commission over alleged bets tied to Trump's speeches on prediction market Calci,
00:12according to CNBC. The operator allegedly earned more than $90,000 betting on words or phrases
00:19Trump would use in scheduled speeches. Calci froze most of the profits after flagging the
00:24trades as suspicious and referred the matter to the CFTC. A person familiar with the CFTC
00:30investigation identified the operator as Gabriel Perez, who has handled teleprompters for Trump's
00:36speeches since the 2016 campaign. White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt said the operator
00:43is cooperating with regulators and was placed on paid administrative leave. She said the individual
00:49would no longer work at the White House. Calci said its surveillance team flagged the trades,
00:55referred them to the CFTC, and provided regulators with evidence from its investigation.
