00:00How do NATO citizens view the alliance?
00:07Amid Russia's war in Ukraine, US President Donald Trump's threats against Greenland
00:12and his general criticism of NATO, the military alliance has been in the news a lot recently,
00:18and it appears that most citizens of NATO's member countries have a good impression of
00:23the organization. According to a study by the Pew Research Center, NATO is viewed positively
00:29in most of the 13 countries surveyed, especially Poland, Sweden, Germany and Hungary. The majority
00:36of respondents in non-European member countries, Canada and the US, also have a favourable impression.
00:42It's not the same story in every country though, with Spaniards split 48-44% between unfavourable
00:49and favourable opinions of NATO, while a clear majority of Greek and Turkish respondents have
00:55a negative view. The study also looked at each country's views on Russia, with all NATO members
01:01surveyed expressing an unfavourable view. This was clearest in Sweden, Poland and the Netherlands.
01:07As for views of Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky, citizens tend to be divided. The Swedes,
01:14Brits and Dutch are most likely to say they have confidence in him doing the right thing,
01:19while Hungarian, Greek and Turkish respondents are most likely to say the opposite.
