00:00I'll show you.
00:01Look straight, though.
00:02Look straight.
00:03Come on, girl.
00:03Georgia, stop.
00:04Riley, it's time.
00:05Stop, stop, stop.
00:06Oh, oh, Jesus.
00:08No, no, Riley.
00:13Virtual reality.
00:15I'm Evan Real.
00:16I'm Rachel Meller.
00:17And we are recapping this wild-ass episode of Next Gen NYC.
00:22You and I are obsessed with this show, but this episode,
00:25the drama, it just went above and beyond.
00:28Like, these kids are really putting in the work to make this such a great show.
00:32I don't even know where to begin because there are so many delicious feuds
00:37like just playing out in front of us.
00:39Which one was the most captivating to you?
00:41We were talking about this before, but Ariana and Riley,
00:44I think it's so interesting because they have such history and they're such good friends.
00:48But then to see them fighting like this, it like makes me a little sad.
00:51Yeah, I was honestly very much shocked when Riley in her confessional explained that,
00:56unbeknownst to Ariana, there are issues in their friendship.
00:59And she was like, I hate that I have to explain it to her, but she can't read my mind.
01:04It can be frustrating at times having to tell someone your needs,
01:08but they won't know unless you tell them.
01:11So I'm preparing for that.
01:13So they had this little meetup at Ariana's apartment
01:16before they were getting ready to go to the Rocky Horror Picture Show thing
01:19that Riley opted out of. She was going to go to Atlanta to hang out with family.
01:23And I think she was feeling, I'm just presuming that she was feeling a little bit embarrassed
01:28after girls night. And I don't think she wanted to be confronted with facing the entire group
01:33after the way that she acted with Georgia.
01:35And nearly threw a drink at her, like was about to like hurl a heavy glass at her.
01:42She ultimately didn't, thank God.
01:44But I do think that she was a little bit embarrassed.
01:46That's why she didn't go to the big Halloween group event.
01:49But she wanted to have this chat with Ariana and tell her what she needed in their friendship.
01:55And as she was explaining herself,
01:58it was not necessarily registering to Ariana because I think in Ariana's mind,
02:04she felt like she has been a good friend to Riley.
02:07She has been supporting Riley.
02:08And even in that moment when Riley might have had one too many drinks
02:11and acted out in a way she shouldn't have. And she did acknowledge like that was inappropriate.
02:16Yeah, she acknowledged that.
02:17She was like, Ariana, you should have stepped in and protected me in that situation and intercepted it.
02:23No, I really don't like that. Like if that was me, I'd be very upset because
02:26Ariana did literally all that she could. She was offering her water.
02:30She was trying to get her out of the situation.
02:32She could have gotten mad at her because really like she was in the wrong.
02:35She went around the table and was like kind of comforting her.
02:38Like she did everything in her power to help the situation.
02:42So for her to then make it back on Ariana, it's just not cool.
02:46You know, I'm in an argument with her and you know, she antagonizes me every single time.
02:50And you know, people are not going to view it that way.
02:52Why wouldn't you like say something or stop it?
02:56Well, and Riley's memory of the evening is probably a little bit fuzzy, whereas Ariana,
03:00she's currently not drinking. She's like stone cold sober. So she remembers everything very clearly.
03:06And it's an it's an interesting dynamic they have because they were friends when they were kids.
03:10Then, you know, their moms famously did not get along for quite some time.
03:14And Next Gen NYC reconnected them and they became, as I explained, very close, very fast.
03:19But I think sometimes those really fast and furious friendships when you're just like
03:24getting along and moving so fast and you're filming a TV show and you're doing events and blah, blah, blah,
03:28this, that and the other. You really kind of there are missed opportunities to really check in with
03:34one another and explain what you need in a friendship. Yeah, I think Ariana has been going
03:40above and beyond in the friendship. So I am a little bit confused by Riley and the sentiment that
03:49she is trying to express to Ariana. And I know they made up. I think Ariana was coming from a
03:54place of
03:54like, OK, Riley's clearly going through it. I'm just going to like nod and say yes. And like because
04:01she was trying to explain herself and then she kind of gave up. Yeah. Which I girl, I feel you
04:07because
04:07I feel like Riley just wasn't I don't think Riley was in a good place to explain herself. She should
04:12have just
04:12like gone home and taken a break from filming and just like gathered herself a bit more before filming a
04:19scene
04:19like that. Because I still don't think even in her mind, her thoughts were clear about the situation.
04:23And I think as the show progresses, we'll probably see different versions of this story and like her kind of
04:29processing what happened and like as she hears it from different perspectives, like we see that all the
04:34time on Housewives where like even in our lives, we don't remember exactly how things, you know, went.
04:40Right. And then she's going to be hearing it from every single person that was there and then
04:43kind of piece it back together and maybe have a different side of what happened.
04:48Yeah, it was also interesting seeing her conversation with her mom, Candy Burris,
04:51the day after because this news hit the blogs about her nearly throwing a drink at Georgia.
04:56And it was a little bit different than the way it was. The picture was painted in the press.
05:00Like, yeah, there was no beverage that actually splashed onto Georgia. The glass wasn't thrown.
05:05It was just sort of like the kind of threatening motion. And then I think someone stepped in to save
05:10the day. I forget who intercepted, but she didn't end up doing it. However, Candy was a bit concerned
05:17and worried, like, girl, why am I hearing about this on the internet? Why didn't you come to me
05:21first? And even in her explanation to her mother, she was kind of like dancing around it. Candy was
05:26like, what happened? What did you do? Why did you do it?
05:29She doesn't know, I don't think. And also when she was saying like, I don't remember the exact
05:33word. She was like, stop, stop. Let's stop doing this during the fight. I almost felt like she didn't
05:38want her mom to see it played out on TV. I think that's why she just wanted it to end.
05:43Not just her mom, a lot of other people also, but for then people to have to see that moment,
05:48she just wanted it to be over. Yeah, no, I'm, I bet you, you're right. And I feel like,
05:52I feel like probably filming this show, she is very cognizant of, oh my God, not only what is the
05:58public going to think, but what is my mom going to think? That's what I was thinking the whole time.
06:01Like, what is her mom going to be thinking about this? Because Candy Burris,
06:04she was such an incredible housewife on Real Housewives of Atlanta. And you know,
06:09she's had her moments, she's engaged in drama. She like, she's definitely been fiery on screen
06:14before. But for the most part, Candy really handled herself with a lot of class. And I would say 10
06:22out of 10 times, what she said always made sense. And Riley, to me, isn't making a whole lot of
06:29sense.
06:29And I think that's just on being young. And I, she's only, we forget, she's only 23 years old. So
06:35I'm sure I did not sound completely coherent at all times when I was 23 years old. So I, girl,
06:42Riley, I get it. I think she's going to learn and grow from this. Hopefully. I love that she and
06:46Georgia were able to kind of patch things up over text. Yeah. I think Georgia doesn't want too much
06:52of a part of this because she sees how things are being handled. And it's like, if you can't deal
06:57with
06:57someone with logic, there's almost no point in continuing to fight it out. You kind of just have
07:02to be like, okay, right. I know that you're not going to be as close as maybe you are with
07:06other
07:07people. And that's the approach that I think Ariana was kind of taking in her conversation with Riley,
07:11where it's just like, okay, like, clearly, we can't communicate because you're not in a logical
07:16place to have solid communications with me. So I'm just going to like nod and say, move past this.
07:22Yeah, I guess that was the best approach for Ariana at this point. I do wonder sometimes,
07:28because Riley, she's feeling distance between herself and Ariana now. She and Ava were really
07:35cool. But also Ava and Riley kind of had a little tiff this past episode. I don't know. I wonder
07:42where
07:42Riley currently stands with everyone. And if she even feels like she fits in with this cast,
07:47because I don't, from what I can see as a viewer, it doesn't seem like she has too many strong
07:52relationships within the cast at this present time of filming. I mean, maybe things have changed for
07:58her. I hope so. Because like, I thought, it seemed like she was in a better position on season one
08:03with
08:03everyone in the cast. And I don't, I don't know what happened. I do worry. I'm like, is this a,
08:09is this a place and space for Riley Burris? I could kind of see her maybe, yeah, taking a break.
08:15I know that's what's so hard about reality TV is like, sometimes we love people and we hype them
08:20up. And then the next season comes and like, maybe they're in a bad mental space. And it's like,
08:24as much as I want to see her like, learn and grow, and I do really like her. And I
08:28like her in the
08:29group. It's like, maybe that's not the priority. Right? Totally, totally. Whereas like, it seems like
08:34Ariana for, you know, whatever reason, she's thriving in this space. I feel like this is just
08:40such second nature to her. I, you know, I loved watching her as a kid on the Real Housewives of
08:46Atlanta, but seeing her as this like, I mean, I know she's young, like 23, 24 years old, but she's
08:51like this like fully formed adult. I feel like she makes a lot of sense. She's a voice of reason.
08:57Voice of reason. Totally. And I think what Riley did kind of say that she was like, I hate how
09:00like
09:01you're painted as like the voice of reason, the good friend, and I'm like the crazy drunk one.
09:05I just, do you know what I think Riley should do? Because Ariana has decided to not drink.
09:09I feel like if Riley just like made a conscious effort to like not drink, at least on camera,
09:14I bet you the reality TV experience would go better for her. Or just, it might be a little
09:19bit easier. No, I totally agree. And like, I'm just thinking about my friends and like going out,
09:23I can't imagine if we had like some crazy wild night. And then to think about like in six months,
09:28this is going to play for the whole world to see, right? Because it's like fun and games when
09:32like no one remembers, but like this is documented. Yeah. Like we're going to remember this forever.
09:36It'll be streaming on Peacock. So sorry about that Riley. No, I think, I think she'll be fine.
09:41I think she'll be okay. I think she will. I'm optimistic because you know what I know. I know
09:46Candy Burris probably stepped in, you know, off camera and off camera conversations occurred
09:52and she was like stern talking to. Yes. Oh, when she went to Atlanta just to hang with her family.
09:56It wasn't just a hang. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Candy definitely spoke to her,
09:59spoke some sense into her. I'm sure. Now what else happened? But there was,
10:03there was other drama too. I'm like, wait, Riley, girl, you stole the show. Uh, what else happened?
10:08I thought it was so funny when Brooks called Meredith and he learned that he was disengaging
10:13incorrectly. Disengaging is not about avoiding conflict or avoiding communication. It's about timing,
10:21not about walking away. Well, cause same. Um, I, so by, by definition,
10:27Brooks taught me that what I also have been doing is just disassociating, avoiding, avoiding life,
10:34avoiding life's a drama, but disengaging. According to Meredith, it's not about
10:40disassociating or just avoiding the drama. It's about timing and knowing when to, I guess,
10:45interact with the person who is creating drama in your life. And she was kind of giving him advice
10:50about when to step in and talk to Charlie. And it seemed like she wanted him to talk to Charlie
10:54very soon about the situation because I'm still a little bit confused. Charlie said,
10:59you know, make, make sure you keep my name out of your mouth, et cetera, about Brooks, but not to
11:03Brooks. And then the, that message eventually made its way to Brooks via Gia, via Gia's boyfriend.
11:08Oh, geez. Yeah. And so, but like, why, what's the, what's the issue? Are they beefing over the
11:13Chloe drama of last year? I don't think so. Is there a new drama that they're beefing? Why are they
11:17beefing? I don't know. Is it just the crypto torture chamber? It might be the crypto torture
11:22chamber. I cannot believe that is a phrase we just regularly say now. So the crypto torture
11:28chamber and he's just like still on the show. Or dating a sister. One of the two. One of those
11:32things. Yeah. It's so, uh, they're so polar opposite. I just can't even imagine them being
11:38actual friends. Or like in the same room. Yeah. Like what? Like when Brooks agreed to go to Gia's
11:44night, uh, first of all, that's the bravest thing he could have ever done. Cause that could
11:48not have been me. I would have been at girls night from the jump. I don't even like, even
11:51though girls night was not great. Girls night was crazy, but like just a more comfortable
11:56place for a gay boy. You know what I mean? Like playing pool with Charlie's the core is my
12:01like worst nightmare. Yeah. I would rather be in the crypto torture chamber, trust and believe
12:08I would rather be tortured and people looking for Bitcoin. I don't have any, no, no,
12:14literally. And then even on this episode when Hudson, I mean, I know Ariana and Hudson,
12:19I think they're back together and I actually do love that. And I think it's very cute. And
12:22I love Zaxby's so much. Have you had Zaxby's before? Once. And what was your review?
12:28I thought it was like fine. This was like a long time ago. I went one time.
12:31So Hudson is, if you guys don't know the, the heir of Zaxby's, which is kind of like a,
12:35I would say a cousin of Raising Cane. So it's like chicken fingers, Texas toast, french fries,
12:40et cetera. I grew up with it in North Carolina. It is absolutely delicious. And him being so closely
12:45associated to that fine dining establishment, I can understand why Ariana would want to re-engage
12:49in this relationship. But I do think they have like a beautiful friendship and relationship that
12:54they've had since like middle school or whatever. So I get it if they are each other's person. So I
12:59don't want to talk too much about Hudson because I do love Ariana and I support if, if it makes
13:03Ariana
13:03happy, it makes me ecstatic. But the way he like touch it down and his PJ and then gets in
13:10the car
13:11and then it's just like- No, I'm sorry. He annoys me.
13:13It's so flashy. And Georgia called him out, well, not to his face, but called out that he has been
13:18like flashing his cars and his Rolexes on Instagram while he and Ariana are going through this separation.
13:24So Wells like walks in the room before him, like-
13:27For sure.
13:27And I feel like his actual personality, all of that aside is kind of boring. And I think his,
13:35like how he's so possessive over Ariana is actually-
13:39Weird.
13:39Oh yeah. Weird. I don't like it. I can see Ariana watching the show and being like,
13:43that's so cute. Cause you know, when you're like obsessed with a boy and then he doesn't want
13:47anyone to date you, like you take it as a compliment, but like the actual action of it
13:51and watching it is strange.
13:52It's kind of icky.
13:53This kid does not intimidate me in the slightest.
13:56Oh God.
13:57Like don't try to come in here and think that you're going to my ex-girlfriend and that it's
14:01just going to be a thing for you.
14:02And then also, this is the episode where Hudson learns that Liam has been very flirty
14:10with Ariana and he gets very upset about that. And I honestly, it was not shy's place to say that.
14:16I know.
14:16If he's, if he's closer to Ariana, which he explained to the girls, he asked the girls for
14:21advice. And then he did the complete opposite of the advice that they gave him. He ended up
14:25telling, he shouldn't have told Hudson that was not, that was not good. And that was not cool.
14:28I don't know. It's not good or cool, but I, I can see him being in a very awkward situation.
14:32If he's like with him and not bringing it up, he like couldn't help himself. It was like
14:37bubbling up in his heart. He was like, I have to expel.
14:40I think Shy's such like a mushy little baby.
14:42He's cute. I do like him. I, I, despite me thinking that was not the right move, I do like
14:47Shy. I think he's a sweet guy. And I think that's ultimately what happened here is that
14:52his sweetness got the best of him. He was with Hudson in the room and who he's friendly with,
14:56not as close as he is with Ariana. Still, he, he felt in his heart, like it would be weird
15:02if I didn't share this information with him. So I don't know how this is going to
15:07impact the dynamics, but it doesn't look like it's going to be good because I think in a preview,
15:11Hudson and Liam, they confront each other and Hudson accuses Liam of trying to F his girlfriend.
15:17And Liam was like, well, it wasn't that serious.
15:19Well, it's not like not the case.
15:20It's not not the case, but so far it's just been like building a dresser.
15:24I honestly feel like Ariana really likes him too. Like she feels lighter around him.
15:28Yeah.
15:29She's cooking him banana bread. They're going on the motorcycle. Like what more could you ask for?
15:33She does, she does seem into it. Like it doesn't feel inauthentically because there's,
15:37there was a part of me that was like, okay, is this just kind of like a bit for the
15:40show?
15:41I don't think so.
15:41But you're right. Her energy around him is like, it's very sweet. It's flirty. It's light. It's bright.
15:46It's fun. It's silly.
15:48So it's like, we love her and Hudson together, but like,
15:51I wish we could see her date other people to see like what that would look like.
15:56Right. Well, I guess it would, you know,
15:57it wouldn't look like having full access to the Zaxby's menu.
16:01So maybe that's what she's thinking about.
16:03Ain't that the truth?
16:04I don't know. I don't know. I gotta say Hudson, instead of like, you know, leading with your wealth,
16:10try leading with the chicken fingers. I feel like that would work. That would work well.
16:13That would work better on me. Yeah. Right. I mean, they're so good,
16:17especially Zaxby's has this honey mustard. Oh, it is so good. I'm like drooling over it. I need
16:22to find wherever the closest Zaxby's is. Wait, I've realized now I've never been.
16:26You've never been?
16:26There's this thing you have somewhere called Saxby's.
16:30Saxby's? Now, what is Saxby's?
16:34That's like, that's like the, the, the Canal Street version of Saxby's. Was it chicken fingers?
16:40No.
16:41Oh my God.
16:42It's like this random deli. And you're like, so it's kind of crazy.
16:47You're like, I don't remember it like that. Oh my God. That is so, that is so funny. Okay.
16:53That was a long time ago. Saxby's. Okay. Well, I guess we got to go. We got to go to
16:57Saxby's.
16:58Thank you so much for following us along for this journey and stay tuned because this season
17:04of Next Gen NYC, it's only going to get crazier and crazier guys. Yeah. We're along for the ride. Bye.
