00:00I'm actually kind of speechless. We've had, I don't know how many killings, but I do know that
00:06it is a record number of killings. And instead of trying to make sure that we do our job,
00:13which is to conduct the oversight. In fact, our colleague who was trying to conduct oversight at
00:18the Dilley facility, because she wanted to make sure that people weren't dying in that facility
00:24in New Jersey is now facing 17 years in prison somehow for doing her job. Why is it that we
00:30can't just come to DC and do what we were elected to do, which is to make sure that these
00:36federal
00:36officers are protecting and serving. Instead, the only thing that's happening is that people are
00:43being taunted, they are being tracked, and they are being killed. And as I look at my colleague,
00:51I don't know if you've had anything to say, but as a Texan, I would hope that we could come
00:57together
00:57as Texans and denounce what just took place in Houston, Texas. How about we focus on making sure
01:05that this agency that has a record amount of dollars now, not because the Democrats were trying to send
01:12them more money because we didn't want to reward their bad behavior, but instead of us doing our
01:17jobs and conducting oversight as it relates to federal officers, you guys decide to waste our
01:23time in the American people's tax dollars with this nonsense. How about we do our part and try to
01:30start saving some lives? I'll yield. It seems like we are at a point where we have a solution in
01:37search
01:37of a problem. Unfortunately for the American people, when they send us to DC, they want us to solve
01:44problems. And so while I hear my colleagues on the other side of the aisle claiming that this is
01:50about protecting children, let's talk about the fact that children are not protected in so many ways
01:57right now. We can talk about gun violence, which I'll never want to talk about because our kids are
02:02being killed. And frankly, if you look at the numbers, if I was to ask you and you decided you
02:07wanted
02:07to be honest about whether or not more children are killed in their schools because of gun violence
02:12versus children dying because of issues like this, if you tell the truth, you'll know that gun violence
02:20is killing our children. You'd also understand the importance of making investments into things such as
02:25mental health. And when we look at the actual numbers as relates to mental health and what
02:31these types of bills do to our children, let me give you some facts because I don't want to operate
02:38on feelings. I want to operate on facts. Trans youth face some of the highest suicide risk of any other
02:44youth groups in this country. Nearly half of trans and non-binary young people seriously consider
02:51attempting suicide each year. The actual number is 46%, but I don't see y'all trying to propose anything
02:58to make sure that we can assist these children. Suicide actual attempts. We know that a study showed
03:06that one in five trans or non-binary youth have attempted suicide just in the past year. Over their
03:14lifetimes, up to 40% of transgender individuals report suicide attempts. And states that passed laws
03:22banning gender affirming care saw suicide attempts by transgender youth increase by up to 72%. So if you
03:33want to protect children and youth, maybe consider what is actually happening. You are absolutely not
03:43protecting their mental health and you're absolutely not providing mental health resources because we know
03:49that Republicans hate to put money into mental health, but they blame every travesty that we see on mental health.
03:56We also know that measles, which unfortunately have started to kill children in this country because it's back on
04:04the rise. Y'all haven't decided to have a hearing or pass a bill to make sure that we could
04:09eradicate measles,
04:10which was eradicated before the Republicans got back in control. TB is up. Whooping cough is up. Listen,
04:19Pramila asked earlier, why are we doing this? I can tell you we're doing this because the midterms are coming
04:25and you don't want to talk about the actual problems because you guys are the ones that have caused the
04:30vast majority of the problems that we're dealing right now. If some people don't want to talk about
04:35measles or whooping cough, we can just talk about the fact that the vast majority of the country right now
04:39is scared to eat lettuce because they believe that they may start pooping and can't stop.
04:44Now, I didn't even know that this existed, but this is where we are. We are at the point that
04:50y'all are
04:50so careless with who it is that runs the CDC and y'all are so reckless that from our farmers
04:57and ranchers
04:58not knowing whether or not their cattle is going to survive or literally people saying I can't eat
05:05the berries and the salad because I may not be able to get off the toilet. I think it's actually
05:13very symbolic of kind of how most Americans feel. We are in a very pooing place right now in this
05:22country. In all seriousness, though, we got a lot of things that we could be solving and I can guarantee
05:27you if you go knock the door right now and ask your constituents whether or not they want to be
05:33concerned about Ebola, which has come back around again, or whether they want to be concerned about
05:41the fact because of Elon and his recklessness as it relates to USAID. We know that there is an increase
05:47in HIV globally right now. I can tell you that there are some medical conditions that people care about
05:54in this moment. The fact that cancer research dollars have been cut. There's a lot that we could be doing
06:02and I would really want to engage in a real conversation. But going after trans children
06:07is just a campaign spiel for you because it has worked in the past. But I can tell you right
06:13now
06:13that the American people understand that y'all are not serious people in this moment.
06:19And therefore, the midterms are coming. The Democrats, we're going to talk about this
06:25Pooey situation that y'all got us into.
