00:00Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp opened up about how coming out as gay transformed his experience
00:04while filming the highly anticipated final season of Stranger Things. Speaking to Variety at the
00:09Broadway premiere of Stranger Things The First Shadow, Noah reflected on how much has changed
00:13since coming out publicly in 2023, saying, It's such a better experience being able to walk onto
00:18that set and know that I'm finally living truthfully. It made this season a million
00:22times better to not be hiding. Noah first came out in a short TikTok video in 2023.
00:27You know what it never was? That's serious. He has since spoken about his decision to come out on
00:32TikTok. It was important for me to kind of make it casual and in today's day and age it doesn't
00:37need to be this big announcement and it can kind of be a casual thing. Noah's decision to come out
00:42was the result of a journey he says truly began when he confirmed in a July 2022 interview with
00:47Variety that his Stranger Things character, Will Byers, is gay, which was then explored in the
00:52fourth season. However, in November 2023, Noah faced calls to be dropped from Stranger Things
00:57season 5 after a video featuring him showed those around him displaying stickers that read,
01:01Zionism is sexy. He later addressed the controversy.
01:04I think anyone with any ounce of humanity would hope for an end to the hostility on both sides.
01:09I stand against any killing of any innocent people. At the Broadway opening, Noah also teased fans
01:15about what to expect from the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, which will premiere sometime
01:19this year, three years after the previous season ended.
01:22People are going to be like truly like devastated. I'm honestly like as sad as it was, I'm so excited
01:28to see the world's reaction to like watching the finale because I mean there's not going to be a dry
01:34eye. It's going to be sad.
