00:01These 84 students at SMK Putrajaya Precinct 15-1 just got a hands-on lesson in Powering Malaysia's Future.
00:09The school is the first stop for Powering the Future 4.0, a nationwide energy literacy program by Tenaga National
00:16Berhad and Star Media Group.
00:18Now, in its fourth edition, it'll roll out to 30 primary and secondary schools across Selangor, Putrajaya, Perak and Melaka
00:25in the coming months, with support from the National Education Department.
00:29As we continue to go from school to school, we also expand the program into universities and with the aim
00:38that the impact is much greater.
00:42We hope that we like to see the energy efficiency is being part of the culture of our people of
00:49Malaysia, so that we will continue to utilize the resources such that it is utilized efficiently.
00:58What we like to encourage the younger generation, because it starts from the younger generation, as they grow to become
01:06the future consumers of electricity.
01:10Putrajaya State Education Department Director, Nadimin Abdul Aziz, said that the program has been raising energy awareness among Malaysian youth
01:17since 2023.
01:19It's a new thing for them to explore, where this energy comes and everything, and with the modules that have
01:26been prepared by TNB, so the students can have hands-on activities, and they do know and realize that electricity
01:34is very important, the energy is very important, and they will learn how to conserve them for the future.
01:39The program blends classroom learning with interactive activities, covering energy efficiency, electrical safety, and renewable sources like solar, hydro and
01:48wind.
01:49Students also take part in simulations designed to build critical thinking and everyday energy saving habits, while sparking interest in
01:56STEM.
02:02The initiative is absolutely vital because the climate change and sustainability are no longer future issues that are happening right
02:14now, and by giving this experience to the students, they can relate what they learn in the classroom, and how
02:25to apply them to the students.
02:28And the lessons are landing.
02:30For me personally, I think it would have to be how much my daily choices have an impact on the
02:36environment.
02:38It really made me aware of my carbon footprint and the importance of sustainability.
02:42I feel like ingenious is saving our world from global crisis, especially when we're using energy like coal and gas.
02:52We can switch it out with green type energy like sun, water, and air.
02:59What did I learn today is, we need to use electric efficient, and if we don't use electric but efficient,
03:06it will give a huge impact for us and the earth.
03:09Since 2023, Powering the Future has reached thousands of students nationwide, building the knowledge, habits, and mindset for Malaysia's next
03:18generation of energy ambassadors.
