00:00What was the main kind of obstacle or objective when you were kind of getting together to put
00:05together this soundtrack and kind of differentiate it from stuff that you've done in the past?
00:08I think it was obviously coming out with this unique sound world that we haven't heard in a
00:14movie like this before. I mean, this movie is obviously so unique and original, but Chris was
00:18particular in a way that he didn't want any recognizable sounds in this type of movie that
00:24we've seen before. So finding that kind of instrumentation, finding those ancient Greek
00:31instruments, working with those instruments and also bringing in the humanity and the human
00:37emotional aspect in it in terms of like James Blake's voice and James Blake's artistry into
00:42the score, you know, was really fun and something I've never done before. And being able to also
00:52work with Travis and write something together was really cool.
00:57I mean, it's so interesting because the Odyssey is all about these oral storytellers. So to have,
01:02you know, one of the most prolific actors from our modern age to work with him on that is a
01:06very
01:07cool symbolic.
01:08Absolutely. I mean, the Odyssey has been, like you said, an oral story, most likely sung, right?
01:15When you're telling it. And, you know, what's better than to finish this movie with two of our
01:21greatest, you know, artists of our time, retelling the story in a way that they interpret it.
01:28Was there any specific like movies from the past that might be from this time period that you were
01:33inspired by when creating the score? Or did you kind of like do your own thing?
01:37I mean, Chris always, when we work on something, he always invites me over and he always shows
01:43movies to, yeah, to some of the people that he works with. And I remember one of the movies that
01:50we saw was, you know, it was The Last Temptation of Christ, which is like just so interesting in a
01:57way where it also sounds in a very modern way. I think it was Peter Gabriel that wrote that score,
02:03but it was also like a very contemporary score for an old story.
