Parish priest Philip Gillespie talks about the King's visit
Transcript
00:00So if you could just introduce yourself and then how you feel about the day
00:05getting started. Yeah my name is Philip Gillespie I'm the parish priest here at
00:10St Mary of the Isle on Hill Street and some of the children from St Mary's
00:16School are down here as well. It's a great day I know over the last couple of
00:21days there's been an awful lot of work around here so hats off to those who
00:26have been working in what is not that the coolest of places to be but it's
00:32really lovely now that people are gathering together and we hope that His
00:37Majesty has a lovely lovely day and I think it must be a good 12 or 14 years
00:42since he was here last. Yeah I mean His Majesty's last visit he was Prince of
00:47Wales wasn't he? What do you think the significance of him coming to the Isle of
00:51Man is? I think it's a reminder not only of the the very close links that
00:56we have with him as Lord of Man but also a reminder of the the respect that's
01:02given to to Tynwald and to the legislative process here on the island.
01:08Well thank you very much. Great pleasure.
