00:03The typhoon Babi is moving toward Japan's southern A-Islands with wind gusts exceeding 200 km per hour,
00:10prompting widespread travel disruptions and emergency warnings.
00:13Japan's Meteorological Agency says the powerful storm could make a landfall early Saturday
00:18after passing south of Okinawa in the Philippine Sea.
00:21More than 160 flights have already been cancelled, most of them involving Okinawa's Naha Airport.
00:27Authorities are urging residents to remain alert for dangerous conditions,
00:32including torrential rains, powerful waves and possible landslides.
00:36Forecasters also warn that destructive winds across the Tsakishima Islands could be strong,
00:42enough to damage or even collapse some homes.
00:45After passing, Japan's Babi is expected to continue toward Taiwan and mainland China,
00:50where officials have already stepped up emergency measures
00:54and issued maritime warnings ahead of the storm's arrival.
01:05China's National Commission for Disaster Prevention has raised the emergency response level to three
01:10following the severe flooding that has hit the cities of Nanning and Wigan in the south of the country.
01:16The Ministry of Emergency Management deployed a joint task force to coordinate rescue efforts,
01:21evaluate material damage and assist local authorities in the urgent relocation of affected families.
01:27The floods caused by heavy rainfall have already left 39 people dead
01:31and nine missing in the Wanshi autonomous region.
01:34Rescue workers are focusing their efforts on searching for missing persons
01:38and distributing humanitarian aid to communities cut off by the floor of waters.
01:43The central government is also prioritizing the repair of damaged infrastructure
01:47and the constant monitoring of river levels in light of forecasts of new storms.

02:30Four others were treated at the scene for minor burns and respiratory problems.
02:35Nearly 50 evacuees are being sheltered at a local cultural center and several roads remain closed.

02:44although witnesses say a fallen power line may have ignited dry vegetation.
