00:00What a big difference in this game that France played against Morocco with the last play
00:07where France played with Paraguay.
00:09That was a close game, they were fighting very much at the end of the match that France
00:17won for a penalty kick of Mbappé, they were really upset at the players.
00:22And a senator from Paraguay got involved, she said very bad words about Mbappé, and
00:28Mbappé answered to her.
00:29It was a big controversy in this World Cup.
00:33We have the details from Asuncion, Osvaldo Saez is going to put you up to date
00:38what's going on with this back and forth between Mbappé and the Paraguayan senator.
00:45Following the World Cup match between Paraguay and France,
00:49Paraguayan Senator Celeste Amarilla made racist remarks on her ex-social media account
00:54targeting footballer Kiliam Mbappé after he did not shake the Paraguayan goalkeeper's hand.
01:00The legislators' comments prompted a response from the player, which in turn sparked a political debate.
01:09This will not change unless we invest in education. It will not change unless we establish clear rules of the
01:15game.
01:17In that context, Mr. President, I reiterate my longstanding position in favor of a law against all forms of violence
01:24and discrimination
01:25as part of building a state that protects rights and equality.
01:33Representative Johanna Ortega criticized what she described as the opportunistic political use of the controversy,
01:40arguing that many of those now expressing outrage belong to the Colorado Party
01:45and are the same lawmakers who have opposed legislation against all forms of discrimination for the past 20 years.
01:52I can be critical of the senators' position, but everything that came from the ruling party, the Cartista faction,
01:59including the Foreign Ministry's statement, and the various positions taken by its leaders,
02:03such as Senator Javier Zacarias Irún and the vice president of the republic,
02:08is clearly an example of double standards.
02:11Former Senator Carlos Filizola introduced this bill against all forms of discrimination,
02:15and it was systematically rejected by the very people who yesterday claimed to defend human rights
02:20and an end to discrimination based on skin color, among other issues.
02:24For her part, Liberal Party Senator Celeste Amarilla, far from retracting her racist and discriminatory remarks,
02:30said she is undergoing a process of deconstruction and adapting to what she described as a fragile generation.
02:39I am deconstructing that mindset, which today, in light of modern times, I almost test.
02:44I am building a new Celeste Amarilla, one who adapts to this generation that is so fragile, so weak,
02:51a generation that I myself helped raise.
02:56Meanwhile, the Afro-Paraguayan Cambacua community in the city of Fernando de la Mora,
03:01through the traditional San Baltazar group, condemned Senator Amarilla's discriminatory and racist remarks
03:06and called on her to retract them.
