00:20I'm reporting from Beijing, where a series of extreme weather events has affected several
00:26regions across China, leaving at least 71 people dead and triggering a large-scale emergency
00:34response.
00:35In the province of Guangxi, floods caused by the typhoon Maisac killed at least 39 people
00:42and left 9 missing and forced around 130,000 residents to evacuate.
00:49More than 8,000 rescuers were deployed in affected areas, supported by boats, drones and emergency
00:58equipment.
00:59In the province of Hubei, tornadoes and severe storms left 11 people dead and more than 330
01:08injured.
01:09Meanwhile, a landslide in the Guangzhou province killed 21 people.
01:14In response to this case of disaster, the Chinese authorities announced 310 million yuan in
01:22emergency and recovery funds to support rescue operation, reconstruction and assistance for
01:30the affected communities.
01:32The President Xi Jinping called the stronger rescue effort, ensuring the safety of citizens
01:38and accelerating the recovery of affected areas.
