A heartwarming victory for an 83-year-old man battling Alzheimer's and dementia! After three agonizing months without his essential medication from the Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS), good news has finally arrived.

Don Lorenzo Picado's story highlighted the critical shortage of his Alzheimer's and dementia treatment, leaving his family struggling to afford private pharmacy costs. Thanks to media attention and Telenoticias' follow-up, the CCSS has now delivered the much-needed medication.

The CCSS explained that a new local memory clinic in Tibás Uruca Merced increased demand beyond initial projections, leading to the shortage that began in May. Fortunately, through administrative and technical coordination with other health centers, the supply has been replenished. This ensures Don Lorenzo and other affected patients can continue their vital treatment.
