00:05Next up is the Adeptus Mechanicus vs. Necrons – two highly advanced factions with radically
00:10different battlefield philosophies.
00:12This matchup leads heavily into map control and technology.
00:15The Adeptus Mechanicus excel at fortifying positions, building powerful bases, ensuring
00:19out armored firepower, while the Necrons are relentless, durable and capable of turning
00:24slow pressure into overwhelming force.
00:27Okay, welcome back to a new multiplayer match of Dawn of War 4.
00:31This time I'm playing the AdMech and I am playing the Necrons.
00:36And AdMech, very different from Space Marines that I played before, they have a lot more
00:43units, much quicker, so, you know, I can expand a little bit more aggressive.
00:49And also what I want to do is, with the Datasmith, these guys that are the Builder Units
00:55basically, I want to build up a new sphere network.
01:00So basically, whenever I build a building, I try to make sure that the next building is,
01:06you know, within the network, because what it does is, it makes the network stronger.
01:11And a stronger network means, you know, buildings produce for cheaper or, you know, turrets fight
01:17harder, you know, stuff like that.
01:19And so, yeah, one of the big things I want to do is build this new sphere network.
01:23Indeed, indeed.
01:24And as for the Necrons, my primary objective, what I want to do is I want to spread the power
01:31matrix, which is this funky looking effect that you can see on the terrain here.
01:35It is spread, as you can see, by every or almost every Necron structure.
01:41So Necrons don't need power or requisition or all those other things that the vermin species
01:48require in order to host their armies.
01:50We have only one resource, and it's called Dominion, which is earned by spreading this
01:56power matrix.
01:57The further out we spread it, the more we earn of it.
02:00The power matrix also grants additional bonuses to our units on it.
02:05So they gain improved HP generation, they regain members faster.
02:12All Necrons basically automatically heal slowly over time, and we can speed that up as long
02:18as they are on the matrix.
02:20So that gives us a big advantage in combat.
02:23So the further we can spread out, we do hit a maximum at some point for our Dominion, but
02:29with this, it can still benefit us greatly throughout the match.
02:32Right, and I assume these three points here will probably be very contested.
02:37So what I'm trying to do now is basically spread the network to the points, because this
02:44helps me in two different ways.
02:46First of all, my network grows, which is good, but also then when I build turrets there, all
02:51the turrets become much more powerful.
02:52Indeed, I already saw that you are trying to take this point on, so I've sent some scarabs
02:56out to fight your rangers.
02:59Yeah, scarabs are very annoying.
03:00They are pretty fast, can fly, and not super easy to kill, and so they are the best harassment
03:08unit in the game, I would say.
03:10And of course, as always, you know, he managed to get the Necrons into melee combat with my
03:15range units.
03:16And my rangers are much stronger than scarabs in range, of course, but if he managed to
03:21basically bind me into melee, you know, then I struggle because I can't use my best
03:25weapons.
03:25One thing you may have noticed is that the Necron units are generally quite powerful,
03:30but not particularly mobile.
03:32And the main way that they get around this is through teleportation or translocation technology.
03:37The main way that they do that is through the use of canoptic spiders that they can build
03:41through the canoptic foundry, which creates tomb pylons.
03:45These can be placed anywhere on the map, and as soon as they are placed, you can put units
03:50in the reserve, placing them into the tomb citadel, and then deploy them from that reserve
03:55to any tomb pylon on the map.
03:57Right.
03:57And as you can see here, my new cell network is growing and growing, unlocking all sorts
04:03of research, because, you know, AdMech have a lot of stuff they can optimize and unlock,
04:09you know.
04:10And this means that all my Scutari units, for example, now have better weapons, and they
04:17can get more models into the unit and stuff like that.
04:20So, you know, this is important to keep in mind, basically, to make sure all your units
04:27have the best stuff available.
04:30Okay, so I've managed to teleport a whole bunch of warriors relatively close to the
04:35front line, so we're going to make use of that as soon as we've got this Convergence
04:40of Dominion set up, essentially, which is a relatively cheap structure that allows us
04:45to quickly spread the power matrix.
04:46It doesn't have a lot of other functionality, but that is its core functionality, and that
04:53will help us with this coming fight, as you can see here.
04:57Right, and I let my commander, SecX23, I order him to lead these units, and then I can give
05:05him a couple of nice upgrades that basically make him and the unit a lot stronger.
05:11All right, so I anticipate that this fight is going to be a little bit tougher, so I'm going
05:16to go ahead and build some Resurrection Galleries in order to support any fallen units.
05:24When you lose units, you can have those be selected within a Resurrection Gallery, which
05:29restores that unit over time when it falls in battle, completely for free.
05:35So, building plenty of Resurrection Galleries will really help to bolster your forces if you're
05:40losing a battle.
05:41Losing more of the selected units while one is already being Resurrected speeds up that
05:47Resurrection, so that really gives you that effect of a non-stop, oncoming tidal wave of
05:53whatever units you want to choose to Resurrect.
05:57But you have to choose wisely.
05:58You can only pick one at a time.
06:00So there we go, and we've got one right here, right now.
06:04So we're going to go ahead and set this other Resurrection Gallery for warriors as well,
06:08and we're going to start churning these out.
06:11My user network is now at level 8, which is already really good, which means that I can
06:18now produce units a lot cheaper, and also turrets and so on are more powerful, so I can
06:24now really build a lot of units for relatively little resources.
06:30Okay, and while you're putting that all together and you're fighting, I'm just going to build
06:34more Resurrection Galleries.
06:36Try and keep those warriors coming out.
06:40I put all my units on auto-reinforce, which means that all the units are being, you know,
06:46healed automatically, but it's also, you know, a really big drain on my resources.
06:51And we're going to go ahead and do something a little bit sneaky, and hopefully we can catch
06:56a young of guard if we do so.
06:59It's actually not easy for him to do something sneaky and surprising, because what you can
07:04see here, these greenish blobs, they are the Augur Vision, so this is basically a way for
07:09Atmec players to see into the Fog of War.
07:12It's a kind of heat map, you know, and you can see where enemy units are on the minimap
07:18and also in-game, and this makes it very hard to surprise attack Atmec units, because you
07:23always get this little warning where the enemy might be.
07:26That's true, that's true, but with this amount of warriors here that I've got going on, I
07:32don't think I need too much surprise.
07:34There we go.
07:35Okay, now a real fight's breaking out.
07:37We're throwing out the stratagems here.
07:39All right, and I've thrown a gravity pulse onto you to hopefully soften up your army here.
07:44It's done quite a lot of damage to my warriors, but fortunately, they are already well on their
07:50way to return, so we're actually going to go ahead and put another one down here.
07:55So yes, Augur Vision is indeed, for the Adeptus Mechanicus, is very effective for predicting
08:00troop movement, but with the ability to teleport, it might give me the upper hand I need, because
08:08there is, I believe, like a very slight delay to Augur Vision, like when it gets updated,
08:13and so if you start seeing a big blotch of red coming around the corner, then it might
08:19already be too late for you.
08:21Yeah, that's true.
08:24There we go.
08:25In the meantime, while we're dealing with this encounter here, we're going to just further
08:29expand the power matrix, build a couple more sentry pylons.
08:36Ah, well, now I think I may have you pinned here.
08:39Now we're coming from both ends.
08:40We're going to see how quickly that's going to go down.
08:44There we go.
08:44Okay, we're going to throw down a solar pulse stratagem.
08:48That is Amnok's unique stratagem here, which should reduce the defenses of all enemy units
08:56on the field, and will also negate any cover.
09:00Of course, Necrons, you know, don't require cover.
09:04If you have no fear of death, then why should you ever use something like that?
09:10We're just going to march forward, and we're going to try and push forward as far as we
09:15can.
09:15We're going to see how long, whether Jan can deal with that or not.
09:19Let's find out.
09:20Yeah, well, I mean, this is definitely now something I want to hold.
09:24So I put some auto-reinforcements in here just to make sure I don't lose the most important
09:31units.
09:32I'm going to very gently start teching up here and trying to get some more effective units,
09:38because I'm starting to see here that you can now out-damage and out-fell my warriors
09:45faster than I can regenerate them.
09:47So that means I'm going to have to move on to some slightly more effective tactics from
09:53here on out.
09:54I think I retreat.
09:56Don't want to lose my commander.
09:58This is a lot of Necrons.
10:01This is a pretty strong tactic that I've found that Necrons can work with, but we'll see
10:08if it's enough to repel your attacks here.
10:11Ooh, there we go.
10:12Okay, we're going to throw a gravity pulse stratagem over here.
10:16Soften up your forces.
10:18Let's get out of the way.
10:20I have some resource problems here, because as you can see, I have relatively high upkeep,
10:26because my army is so big.
10:28And also, when you control a lot of points, then each additional points you control gives
10:34you a little bit less resources.
10:37And both of that combined...
10:39Oh, and I forgot to build generators here.
10:41All of that combined meant I did not have as much resources as I wanted to have.
10:48But now I have my stratagem back.
10:52So that is helpful.
10:55And also, I mean, his warriors are pretty good against a lot of things, but not against
11:00tanks, right?
11:01So these guys can hopefully keep them away for a while.
11:06Looks like I was able to repel the brunt of your force, but looks like it's going to
11:12take a little bit more.
11:12So I'm going to send in some wraiths here, using hyperphasing to get through options.
11:17Obstacles and the like, and make sure that I don't get bogged down by melee, so I can
11:21just hit your unit straight on.
11:22Yeah, my production is running well.
11:25Everything is relatively cheap now, but my user network is big enough.
11:30But actually, let me make it even bigger.
11:34Because even bigger means even cheaper units.
11:38There we go.
11:39Okay, I've got one of the Necron Endgame units out, which is the Monolith.
11:44So we're going to teleport this bad boy straight over here to come and deal with your forces.
11:51And we're going to start deploying units from it, from reserve, same as we do with the tomb
11:57pylons.
12:01There we go.
12:03And then we're just going to move forward until we hit your headquarters.
12:11Get our Lich guards out.
12:13Oh my goodness.
12:15They were just taken out by that Scorpius Decentigrator.
12:18We're going to have to take care of that.
12:23There we go.
12:26Ooh, that was a little bit too close.
12:29Probably shouldn't have done that.
12:30That's a mistake on my part.
12:35Oh, you got quite a few of these.
12:42Oh no!
12:44Yeah, that's the nice thing with the Atmec.
12:46The Atmec really has strong production capabilities.
12:50And so, especially when you come close to my base, you know,
12:53then you better bring the goods.
12:57Okay, well, I guess if you come for the king, you best not miss.
13:00So I'm going to give that another shot, but not to worry.
13:04In the meantime, while you've been dealing with that,
13:06I've been restoring my legion of warriors.
13:10Yeah, but now actually I come into your territory
13:13and looking for convergence of dominion.
13:16So if I destroy enough of those,
13:19he will have resource problems on his own.
13:23That's very true.
13:25The dominion or the domain that a Necron can set up
13:28can be very, very strong,
13:30but it is relatively fragile internally.
13:33Like, if you don't have enough defenses from the center on,
13:38it can be quite vulnerable.
13:41Yeah, also, let's see what we can deploy here.
13:46Maybe some sort of surprise.
13:50Uh-oh.
13:53Yeah.
13:53Oh, no.
13:55This is going to be a problem.
13:58I don't think so.
13:59I think it's going to be fun.
14:06Oh, and all your nice resurrection galleries.
14:08Because, obviously,
14:10the resurrection galleries here,
14:12each one resurrects one type of enemy,
14:14and so if I destroy all three of them,
14:18then three types of enemies won't come back anymore,
14:21which makes it a lot easier for me.
14:24Okay, time to take care of this.
14:28We're going to have to get rid of that knight.
14:32Fortunately, I've already got another monolith out.
14:35We're just going to teleport it as fast as we can.
14:38This is not looking great for me,
14:40but I still have a few cards up my sleeve,
14:42and we almost have that knight down.
14:44Yeah.
14:45What I'll do is I'll see if I can...
14:48There we go.
14:51Get a few Canoptic Doomstalkers out to try and tackle it.
14:55Long-range armor-piercing should do the trick.
14:58Oh, no, my knight.
14:59If only I had another one.
15:02Ah, no, not for real?
15:05We're going to go ahead and...
15:09Get a whole bunch generated.
15:11Oh.
15:11It's just a little too late for teleporting that out.
15:17Ah, well.
15:18I unfortunately seem to have been hoisted by my own petard,
15:21having not enough defense here.
15:24I very aggressively spread the power matrix,
15:27but I didn't have any other internal defenses here,
15:29so...
15:30Oh, this is going to be a problem.
15:32I'll just put one down now.
15:33Yeah, Necrons actually have pretty good turrets,
15:36and the smaller ones,
15:38they can actually teleport,
15:39which makes them especially nasty
15:41because basically you can,
15:43you know, push them
15:45wherever you want them to go
15:47with your front, you know?
15:48So that's...
15:49Oh, there it is.
15:52This is what I was looking for.
15:54Yeah, now I'm in danger.
15:59Well, it was a significant back and forth here,
16:02but it looks like this is going to be
16:04a pretty decisive victory for you.
16:05Well played.
16:06Thank you.
16:07As it should be,
16:08the AdMech won.
16:10See you later.
16:10See you later.
