00:00Hi, everybody. Good to see you on YouTube Live.
00:02Gavin, you do what you want to do.
00:03Say what?
00:04Gavin can do what he wants to do.
00:06Gavin damn sure can do what he wants to do.
00:08I kept my opinion to myself, now didn't I?
00:10And you know what? I'm not even going to share it.
00:12You can use the Rewind feature on the free Odyssey app

00:21Because I went on a small diatribe a day ago that
00:26there was a certain time of year that I used to have to go to baseball practice
00:31and I had to do it for two times in the winter and it made me hate baseball.
00:37And the young man said he was thinking about it.
00:39I told him and I kept my mouth shut because not everybody's me
00:42and I'm not going to put that in that young man's head because I love that young man.
00:45I ain't going to do it.
00:45What was the part that you hated?
00:49All of it. Take your pick.
00:52Like, see, now you're doing it if anybody's listening.
00:55Like, he drives around with his dad.
00:57If he's listening, I don't want him to hear this.
00:59I don't want to dissuade him from anything he might do.
01:02Now, listen.
01:03We're getting to the Guardians here in a second.
01:05Every sport has their profile.
01:07What position does he play?
01:09He actually is a hell of a second baseman.
01:12Well, if he's good defensively, let's get him up.
01:15He's really good.
01:17Go ahead. What were you saying?
01:18Every sport has their pluses and minuses about when your kids get into it,
01:23about the expenses, the travel, all that stuff.
01:26The parents, right?
01:28When I am running around Bay Village and I see these baseball games
01:34and it's 90 degrees outside and I look at the parents,
01:37who there's just no reprieve from the heat.
01:41They're just standing out there, sitting in a lawn chair in the middle,
01:44and they're just getting pelted with, you know, the sun's blaze.
01:48And I look at how long these games go and I go,
01:51yeah, I wouldn't be that bothered if Mason doesn't really get into baseball.
01:56Well, do you want him to try it?
01:58Yeah, but you want him to try everything.
02:00I'm fine with that.
02:01But it's like it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
02:03No, it's not.
02:04There are other sports where I think the days would go by a little faster.
02:08The worst thing in the world is when you're in the Mexican standoff
02:11with the other coach with the weather coming in
02:13and whether or not you're going to play.
02:15Oh, boy.
02:16Oh, yeah.
02:17Because depending on who's taking care of your ball fields,
02:19there's like a city park situation there and all that stuff.
02:22And it can be a little bit rough.
02:24They start to text and then they put the pressure on.
02:26Well, I don't know if we can make it up on Friday, guys.
02:29I mean, he's been through that a million times over there.
02:31Oh, no, I don't have those problems anymore.
02:35Well, machine.
02:36Oh, we are there.
02:37That's true.
02:38Yeah, I have that stuff.
02:40There were those type of teams in 9U and 10U,
02:43and they're just not in the league anymore.
02:47See you later.
02:49Sensational.
02:51Sensational.
02:52They're still getting in about the cramps, by the way.
02:55Oh, I got an entire email.
02:57Saul Badman says,
02:58Banana before bed will give you Kevin Finity dreams.
03:01I have a couple of Kevin Finity dreams.
03:03That was a fun era, Sopranos.
03:05Go ahead.
03:06What do you got?
03:07Diane says,
03:08Tell Ken.
03:09I mean, she's from Alaska.
03:11She's emailing from Alaska.
03:13That's got to be the best advice ever.
03:14I mean, it's the great white north up there.
03:16Says, you know, contrast the baths to help with his cramping.
03:21Alternating hot and cold.
03:23Hot and cold what again?
03:24Baths.
03:25Baths.
03:25I'm not, I'm not, I'm not Lyndon Johnson.
03:27I'm not taking a 50 degree shower.
03:29When's the last bath?
03:30I haven't taken a bath in 30 years, I think.
03:34Owen, last bath.
03:35Mine's been more recent, but it's been at least 15.
03:42My dad likes a bath.
03:43I'm like, you're weird, man.
03:45A good bath?
03:45Yeah, man.
03:47That's weird.
03:48And it was only ever when I was like sick.
03:52Where you're just like, I can't fit.
03:54He's like, you like hot tubs.
03:56I'm like, so?
03:57That's not the same thing.
03:58That's superheated water.
04:00And I'm not like getting out the shampoo and all that stuff.
04:03Like, we're not doing that.
04:05There are people who believe, according to you guys,
04:09according to some things I heard on the air yesterday,
04:13there are some folks, speaking of baseball,
04:16who feel that the Guardians feel the same way you do.
04:18That they drive by the ballpark when it's 95 degrees outside
04:20and go, man, maybe I wouldn't want to be doing some baseball right now.
04:23And they're feeling that possibly that we should be sellers
04:28coming up this trade deadline.
04:30And in that turn, you're raising the white flag.
04:33That's why I've used that term here to tease coming up at 8 o'clock.
04:37We were at 8 o'clock.
04:38I think that's insane, guys.
04:41First off, this is a bad spell.
04:44This ain't going well.
04:45Can't take that away.
04:46The pitching is horrific.
04:48The bullpen's horrific.
04:50I hope – it's gotten to the point where I hope Sobrowski is hurt
04:54in pitching through an injury because that explains 11 straight balls yesterday,
04:59which I thought it was 10.
05:00I was actually corrected.
05:01I was one short.
05:02I credit him with one.
05:04It's almost like Freddie Kitchens in the opener against Tennessee in the flags.
05:07It's a Sobrowski's dozen.
05:09It's a –
05:10That's what they call it.
05:11It's very difficult.
05:14And there's some bad things going on.
05:16It's still a –
05:18In the terms of a season, we can make this a blip on the radar.
05:21We can salvage this series today, even though Gavin Williams probably has to go
05:25all nine strong because there's nobody in the bullpen left.
05:28And we'll see what we do in Miami, even though they're a much better team
05:31than where they were.
05:32They're 51-42 now.
05:33They won 2-0 last night.
05:35Anthony, let me ask you this.
05:37The second thing, who the hell would we sell off?
05:40Yeah, it was a great point because I brought this to you, to your attention
05:44the other day when I was looking online.
05:46You brought it up yesterday.
05:47I'm going, who do we give up?
05:48There's just this flurry of negativity surrounding the baseball team
05:52with like diehard fans.
05:53These aren't the fans that just kind of parachute in once the playoffs start.
05:57These are the diehard fans.
05:58So I guess the more you watch your team, the more you –
06:02it does run the risk that you can start to hate-watch certain things,
06:06certain elements of the team, especially when, you know,
06:09mired in a four-game losing streak, missing two of their better players,
06:13and certainly without Jose Ramirez, they have been one of the worst
06:17batting teams in baseball.
06:19So you start to see that negativity, and then you're like, yeah,
06:22but we don't have – like in years past, it was, oh, Class A.
06:27You know, what could we get for him?
06:29All right, that's gone.
06:30Yeah, what do you have that other teams would even want?
06:33You're going to get five to ten now for Emmanuel Class A.
06:36What do I – who do I give up?
06:38What, oh, that was a good joke, and you know it was.
06:40I was going to say two packs and a soup.
06:43Oh, come on.
06:44Get the soups.
06:46Let's see what's on the books.
06:48He'll have his day in court.
06:49We'll see.
06:50Who do I give up?
06:51I'm not – Jose Ramirez is not in the conversation.
06:54That's – no.
06:55That's a non-issue, non-starter.
06:57Stephen Kwan?
06:58What am I going to get back for Stephen Kwan?
07:00Who am I trading with one of the young guys?
07:03Honestly, who are we comfortable with trading?
07:05Right.
07:05There really isn't – everybody is, you know, cost-controlled.
07:09I think – unless some people – and I'm not saying anybody's stupid.
07:12Let me hear a differing opinion on this.
07:14Who can I give up?
07:15Because as I see this right now, this is either who you are or you can add to it.
07:20You can't subtract from it.
07:21All your young guys are your young guys you want to be a part of the future.
07:25I'm not trading away Bizzana.
07:26I'm not trading away Cooper Engel.
07:27I'm not trading away – I'm not trading away – not Rocchio now.
07:31I'm not trading away any of these guys.
07:33I know Rocchio's not one of the young, young guys.
07:34You get what I'm saying.
07:35Like, when you bring up – when you bring back on Hel Martinez, I'm not trading him.
07:39Like, I'm not trading any of these fellas.
07:41First off, they are affordable.
07:42That is part of it.
07:43Second of all, they're supposed to be a part of the future of the franchise.
07:46And I'm not messing with any of that.
07:47And this is an organization that really doesn't like to mess with culture.
07:49That, to me, would seem to be a very knee-jerk reaction, a bad reaction to this.
07:57This is a bad stretch.
07:58I'm not making any excuses for it.
08:00There is definitely – there's definitely some Cavs feelings that have spilled over to
08:05the Guardians, but I can't sit there and defend the Guardians when they've played
08:08really badly through four straight games.
08:10And when the hitting's not there, the pitching shows up.
08:14When the pitching's not there, the hitting shows up.
08:16It's all been all over the place.
08:18It's been bad.
08:20That's not an excuse.
08:21But I don't think there's moves to be made that help you by selling guys.
08:26That's not possible.
08:27You're not old.
08:29You're young.
08:29The one guy that you would have return with is a non-starting conversation.
08:33He doesn't go anywhere.
08:35Well, and then – and if you think about it, like, this is one thing that I always say.
08:39And then people, you know, they always think of radio guys being bombastic and they're
08:46the first to write games off.
08:47This is not a bombastic conversation.
08:49But what – the part of this that bothers me is – I always say this.
08:53Is there a team in this town that deserves more benefit of the doubt than the Guardians?
08:58So when they lose –
09:00Oh, the Browns.
09:00Easy.
09:01When they lose or have this stretch and clearly without their best player, which is a pretty
09:07big deal.
09:08Yeah.
09:09Yeah.
09:09I'm going to still give them the benefit of the doubt, especially after what they pulled
09:12off last year.
09:13But there are people who are annoyed by us when we say we give them the benefit of the doubt
09:16all the time because, then again, they bring up the division.
09:18They go, guys, they're playing in a crap division.
09:19You're playing in a AAA division.
09:21How are you giving them the benefit of the doubt?
09:23In fact, they think we should be more mad at them.
09:25I go, no.
09:25No, we are in the same constraints as most of the teams that are in the division.
09:30Detroit, that's a weird market.
09:32Chicago, they should be in a much better position than what they are, but they've actually tried
09:35to spend money before, and that's gone straight to hell on them.
09:38But Kansas City, Minnesota, we're kind of all in the same spot here.
09:41Minnesota's a big market, but I understand.
09:43We're kind of all in the same spot.
09:44Plus, you've got a pending lockout coming up.
09:46So how many guys am I going to be able to give away and bring back?
09:49You can't do any of that.
09:50So this is basically, if you can get maybe another reliever, let's see if we can make
09:56a move for another reliever at a decent price.
09:58Can we turn one of our guys who are in AAA into a reliever?
10:02Is it time to do something like that with some of the guys who might not be starters in their
10:06future, who might be in that rotation?
10:08I don't know.
10:08I'd have to look.
10:09I'd have to ask Justin Ladder, to be honest with you.
10:11There's other things that you can do, but you're going to have to get creative.
10:14That's not good for us talking on the radio about it, because there is that bombast that
10:19you talk about, big, huge, swinging moves, Lindor, the whole deal.
10:24That's usually what gets the people going.
10:26But guys, with all the things that we don't know about in the future, with how poorly they
10:31have played over the last, let's be honest, about a month without Jose Ramirez here, there's
10:40this is either your team or you're not making a big move.
10:42I'd be shocked.
10:44And I'm not getting rid of these kids, young men.
10:46I'm not getting rid of these young ballplayers.
10:48I want to see how these guys turn into something here.
10:51Steven, or Steven Vogt.
10:53Steven Kwan, do you want to give him up because he's still playing good defense?
10:57I know that his bat isn't there.
10:59What do you want to do with that?
11:00A little better lately.
11:01It would probably feel too little too late on Steven Kwan by now, wouldn't it?
11:05Like, honestly, I'm serious.
11:07Like, do I want to give up Steven Kwan now?
11:08I don't think I want to give up Steven Kwan now.
11:10What am I going to get back?
11:11Not much.
